It’s Monday and time to link up with Sarah and Holly to tell about our weekends…

How was yours?

Let’s start with Thursday night.

Tom knows the guy that wrote this book (booklet?). It was very short and very, very bad. He was invited to the book signing party at a big event space.

It was super weird but entertaining. But, when we got to Tom’s car (we were only there from 6:00-7:30 – broad daylight), I immediately knew something was off. Tom had basically everything stolen from his car. He had boat radios, boat stereo (we take it out when not on the boat), chargers, sunglasses, and so much more. I’ve always joked with Tom about how much crap he keeps in his car. I had my wallet (I had taken out the credit cards and my license) and my prescription sunglasses stolen. We were both so upset and called the police and made a report. We wished we hadn’t gone to the event. And, it seemed like Tom forgot to lock his car. Oops, Tom. There was no sign of forced entry.

Friday morning I woke up and my oven told me it was Olympics time! Ha! This oven! It changed to different sports and different scenes all weekend. I’m kind of freaked out if you must know. Does my oven need to be this smart?

Friday I picked up my sourdough and bagel order from my former student and I left some goodies for her kids on her porch. She sent me the cutest video of them opening their goodie bags.

We had to take Eddie Otis to get weighed for his next flea and tick dosage and he weighs 46 pounds! Here is a photo that shows the length of him now:

I actually decided to watch the opening ceremonies live and had it on all day. The boats on the Seine cracked me up. I thought it was funny when a small country had a small boat. I wonder how many of the athletes got motion sickness?

I mean, come on – you knew I would be wearing the Paris slides!

I made a French dinner and Mason’s college roommate came for dinner and they went to a movie. Mason had so much fun catching up.

Saturday I made a mess of breakfast sandwiches for anyone that wanted one.

This weekend I finished two books.

I think this was my favorite of the summer so far:

I also really enjoyed this:

Look at the beautiful inside cover:

This mani is going strong a week later and I really love the color.

I started this:

It’s probably for a much younger audience and it’s about ice hockey, so I’m not sure yet…

I am trying to get back on my iced protein coffee and this hit the spot! I like Premier vanilla or cake batter the best with some instant coffee grounds and water all frothed up.

Saturday afternoon, Tom, EO, and I went out on the boat.

Saturday evening Tom and I went to an outdoor concert with food trucks for dinner.

Sunday morning I rose and watched some Olympics! My bestie’s daughter does eventing and she knew an Olympian so I wanted to watch!

Along with his 46 pound weight, EO has had some neck growth, so we changed out his collar to his big brother’s old one. I think the green really brings out his beautiful eyes.

Can you see the tiny stick he has?

EO seems to have a pretty good vocabulary now. He can go get specific toys. He knows the words “sit, hungry, treat, water, tug (his tug toy), ball, stick, duck (his duck toy), lambie (his lamb toy), and margarita (his margarita toy)! He does not know the words, “come” and “no”. So, it’s a work in progress.

As you are reading this, I am preparing for a two day professional development today and tomorrow. I don’t have to do this, but it will knock out all of my hours for the year. I like to think of my “future self” with stuff like this. I will be glad to get it knocked out and it won’t take up mental space. I had to piece meal my hours last year and it was stressful – an hour here, two hours here, etc.

Oh well. I hope it isn’t the worst one I’ve ever done! Ha!

  1. Oh man, that is too bad about the car break in. It’s an awful feeling when someone enters your space and takes your things. Ugh.

Looks like you had a good weekend despite the break in so good for you all! EO is really getting so big and the green collar really makes his eye pop.

I think you’ll enjoy your PD because you can go home and relax and it’s only the two days – you are right, future Amy will be very grateful!

  3. Oh no! That book event sounds like it was no good all around! I hope they can recover some of the equipment or you can easily replace it. Eddie Otis is getting so big! Your manicure color is really pretty and perfect for summer!

  4. I am so sorry to hear about the break-in. Those kinds of things are always so frustrating! Will insurance help recover any of the costs, or no since the doors weren’t locked? Poor Tom! I’m sure he’s irritated with himself. On a lighter note, I think it’s brilliant that you’re getting these days knocked out early. Are you back full time this week? Your school system is right on course with the ones here in our town. A lot of my friends are back full time today, with the students starting on August 8th. I love EO’s green collar! It does help his eyes to pop. What a cutie! I hope these two days go by quickly for you, my friend.

  5. So sorry to hear your car was broken into! I hope all goes well with your teacher inservice days and I think it is so smart to cross them off early and get them out of your headspace.

  6. Good for you getting your professional days done before any other school stressors begin. I love how you are always thinking of your future self. Ugh, I hate what happened with the car Thursday night. What a bummer and those people are just rotten to do that. Glad y’all could still get out and enjoy the boat Saturday.

  7. Oh and good luck today and tomorrow at your PD. Sometimes it is best to get it all done together. I think I didn’t mention it because I am still in the ignoring that school will start again mode. I hope you learn something good!

  8. I’m so sorry that Tom’s car was broken into…what a pain!
EO in his collar is too cute. He’s such a pretty pup.
Your Olympics ideas for meals are great! All of our days next week are PD hours. I prefer picking and choosing in the summer (but I do like to have all hours when they year starts) the cancelled opening day was supposed to be PD hours so now I wonder if I need to get more on my own. Have a great Monday!

  9. Wow!! So sorry about Tom’s car. I need to show this to my husband. He carries so much stuff in his truck and forgets to lock it when it’s in our driveway 😬 We live in a small town within a big city so the police know alot of us. It’s going to be really embarrassing when my husband has to explain to the police that his stuff was stolen because he didn’t lock his truck! 🤣

  10. So smart to get ahead of your PD hours! I hope this is a great start to the school year. I’m sorry to hear about the car break in, I left our car unlocked at a vacation rental once and a few items were stolen from it, nothing important but it feels like a violation! I just finished the Abby Jimenez book too, good beach ( pool ) read!

  11. so sorry to hear about the car items theft! We have to be really careful and even with that, a few times a year cars are stolen and we hear about people tugging on car doors overnight. I know what you mean about doing PD for your future self – I did 4/5 online compliance courses this past week. I would have done #5 about active assailants, but it’s locked and won’t open. I don’t think I would have gone in to school to do them tho; that’s dedication in your part! I’ve heard that Catherine Center paints and does some of the artwork on her books, especially flowers. Have a good week!

    1. Thanks! I got 12 hours over with and don’t have to think about another ounce of PD. But, we have a whole work day dedicated to the stupid videos. I think we were up to 14 videos last year?

  12. Oh I’m so sorry about the car break in. That is so annoying and just a pain to deal with. Glad the rest of the weekend was better. Hope you have a great school year!

  13. We haven’t ever had a car break in, but one of the movers stole $80 out of my purse and a diamond necklace and earrings (I didn’t discover that one until this year). You just feel so violated when things like that happen. Did the police feel like they could recover any of the stuff?

On to brighter things…Eddie Otis is so big! Does he like to cuddle still? I love seeing the photos of him swimming!

I haven’t watched any of the Olympics. A girl from Brownsburg won the bronze in some biking event. I will, hopefully, watch Simone Biles, though! That young woman can move!

Have some fun at the professional development if you can!

      No, they didn’t.
He is very touchy but I think he will cuddle more when he calms down. Thank you!
      That’s so cool!
      It was ok.
