Today is a happy day with a happy link up – Currently with Jennifer!
Jennifer is one of the most positive people in my blog roll. She helps me to start my day in a positive way! This link up is great because it helps me to appreciate the little things in life.

Did you read my Summer List yesterday? I feel like I came off a little bit meh about it. I think as women we feel guilty for having things we want to do that aren’t all the things that we feel we are supposed to do. I had a positive phone conversation with my sister Kate on the phone yesterday and a really nice conversation in person with my friend Victoria and I think both conversations helped me work through some of what you may have noticed in my tone. Maybe you didn’t notice anything and that’s good, too!
Loving
I find myself reaching for my two new pairs of Old Navy shorts lately. These are a linen blend and they have elastic waists and pockets and were $14.99 each. I feel like they could be J.Crew or J.Crew Factory quality and have already washed both pairs two or three times.
Here I wore them over a swim suit for the boat:

Here I wore them for a lunch date:

Don’t you love when you feel that you made a good purchase? I reached for cut offs in the summers of the past few years, but these seem to be more my speed right now.
Notice I also am wearing my new Target A New Day sandals from Jen’s rec!
Looking Forward To
I’m looking forward to savoring this season through my summer list. Tom and I love boating together and it’s been fun to have a new companion and our friends don’t seem to mind a sleepy puppy on board, either. The boat seems to lull him to sleep pretty quickly.
This photo both warms my heart and terrifies me:

Tom is letting him do his thing on the dock and he is so close to the water. When we arrive at this restaurant on the water, EO gets off the boat to go do his business.
I’m also looking forward to Eddie Otis and Luna’s next playdate. My friend Victoria got Luna the same weekend we got EO. They had a big time Monday at lunch. Look at Victoria’s darling fabric for her outdoor couch cushions that she sewed herself!
Luna is looking at him like he is crazy and they both have their tongues out. I need to pay Luna because EO slept for 3 hours when we got home.

I am looking forward to roasting more vegetables. These turned out so darn good. My secret is high heat and not to crowd your sheet pan. I did EVOO, salt, pepper, cajun seasoning, and, garlic powder. I broiled for the last few minutes. I served this with chicken sausage and quinoa and made a simple dressing of EVOO, red wine vinegar, dijon mustard, and garlic, salt, and pepper. Looking to eat more plant based and more healthy grains.

I’m also looking forward to all the fresh summery recipes! Let me know if you have any to share. I’m thinking a caprese chicken or salad some time soon, too.
Enjoying
I’m still enjoying my Chobani creamer and I’m still using my traditional coffee pot and I really hate the mess involved. Victoria told me her Nespresso has changed her coffee life and I’m really interested. She buys the Starbuck’s pods that work with the machine at Kroger.

I’m also enjoying watching EO work his second dog puzzle. You put treats in the little compartments and he has to find them. He really loves working puzzles! He is very motivated by treats! Ha!

Seeing
I really love our route to the river where we keep our boat and launch our boat. It’s the prettiest tree lined street. I don’t travel this road very much in the winter so it’s always a treat to get to see this again.

Do you have certain roads that you love to use?
I also love my yard as my regular readers know. It is such a quiet (most of the time) oasis and it is definitely my happy place.

Mosquitoes love me so much. I really have to remember to spray this around 4:00 p.m. and then I make sure to shower it off at night before bed. This is new to me this year and I really like it.

I would love to add some plants that keep them at bay, but Eddie Otis is very interested in plants.
Lounging Around In
Admittedly, this is an area of my closet I need to work on. I really don’t have nice lounge clothes and I hang on to my sleeping tanks way too long. Some have holes! I have been wearing my new Aerie set as a cover up and as lounge wear, though.

This intrigued me from the Walmart website. It’s a 4th of July themed sleep shirt that I would probably lounge in. Kind of cute, no?

And, that’s what I’m loving, looking forward to, enjoying, seeing, and lounging around in currently!

I’d love to hear some of yours! Thank you as always for reading!
Cheers!
Amy
As I am sitting here scratching all my bug bites this morning wishing I had used MORE (or maybe stronger?) bug spray yesterday… I can totally relate! Your sheet pan veggies look yummy. I have a couple pair of Old Navy linen shorts and year after year they end up being some of my favorites. They are so comfy and yet look stylish.

Bug bites are the worst! You might need the deep woods formula for hiking. Thank you – trying to do more veg! Right? I really like my shorts from ON!

My heart jumped a little when I saw EO walking so close to the edge of the deck with Tom! I think it’s good for him to learn, though. I love that road to the boat dock; I also have certain roads that I love to take: the road to Dad’s house is beautiful, and a few more in our area that lead out to the country. It’s such a beautiful time of year! I don’t always love a ton of rain, but I love what it does to the landscape after we’ve had some; everything always looks so full and lush! God gave us a beautiful earth to live on. Thank you for the kind words today! I loved our phone conversation yesterday, and we obviously could have kept talking for hours. I always love catching up with you!

I know! He has now done that three times on our outings. Tom is so calm about it. I guess so. I really appreciate certain wooded roads. I really like to see them in all the seasons, to be honest. I know you enjoy that part of driving to your Dad’s. It was great to talk to you and yes, we could have gone on and on!

You hit the trifecta with those shorts….linen blend, elastic waist and pockets! I have never seen a dog puzzle, but that is so creative. I need to roast some veggies this summer…but of course, then I need to get motivated to cook something other than sourdough, ha!

I think so – so comfy but not sure how flattering they are. Oh well! I heard about the dog puzzle from Carolina Charm blog. See what we can learn through blogs! Keep on with the sourdough I say!

Beautiful road you travel to get to your boat! I live on a tree lined street. It’s always come home down it. I love salads in the summer. I made caprese salad with mozzarella pearls, halved sweet cherry tomatoes, fresh basil and avocado added right before eating. I top with balsamic glaze. So good!

Thank you! Oh, so pretty! I really appreciate big old trees except in big storms! I love that. We had that a lot in Germany. They would make a bowl of mozz pearls, grape tomatoes, and add balsamic – or maybe I did that when I got home. I didn’t think of adding avocado! Great idea!

Here in Sweden we have big and slow mosquitos that are quite easy to spot (and slap). In Florida: no-sees! How can you defend yourself!?
Your roasted vegetables looked delicious!
I love shorts! And cut-offs! It’s a symbol of summer for me, together with flip flops!

The veggies look so good. I always like vegetables and salads better when someone else cooks them! Your roads and trees there are so pretty. We live in what used to be prairie land, so it’s just not as scenic. I saw that Walmart has a whole line of red, white and blue pajamas…so fun. Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday.

Thank you! I’m the same but now with prices the way they are – I’m trying! Thank you! I love the green around here. They have some cute things! Loft has so much red, white, and blue, too. Are we entering a new patriotism for the Olympics?

The pan-roasted vegetables look so good! I never think to roast broccoli, I usually steam it to death!

They were so good! I put the leftovers in an omelette for my son. I think roasting is a better flavor for broccoli.

That aerie set is really cute on you!
I love your summer list because too often, summer goes by and I wish I had been more mindful of doing certain things.
Luna was TOAST the rest of the day after playing with EO- even when Jasper came home she was not interested in playing! They were so cute together. Looking forward to our next puppy date!

You should do a list! Yes! EO was too! Poor Jasper!
