I’m going into the season with two new suits. I ordered the first on at the end of the summer on major clearance from Aerie for $30.

And, the second is from Walmart for about the same price. I wanted it to be a deeper navy and it is a bit more royal blue. I guess it’s in between the two shades of blue.

For me, it’s all about the cover up that I wear over the suit on the boat or to the pool.

One of my most worn is this black Target gauzy lightweight dress. Did you see my gauze post yesterday? I left this out because it’s in my cover up category of clothing.

This also looks nice enough to wear in a restaurant or a store.

And, I also wear this white Target cover up.

The following I’ve had for years:

I got the above at Target or Kohl’s and I’m talking 10 years old or so.

I have two long coverups. This one is a couple of years old from Amazon:

This is from World Market last year:

After seeing my collection, I must be honest. I still like the first two, but I feel like the rest are dated. I placed an order for this one on Amazon. I plan to keep my eyes open when I get to the brick and mortar stores. I also am considering throwing on one of my oversized button ups. I really like that look for the season.

Don’t settle and make sure you love your cover up. You really only need one, but it will make you feel fabulous when you have to put on that swimsuit.

Where do you stand on coverups?

  1. I agree, the cover up is where it’s at! I have found that I really like ones that open in the front. I have a couple I really enjoy.

I got rid of several older ones. I tend to keep things if they still fit and have no rips or tears so I am having to change my thinking. Even when it comes to cover ups if I don’t love them, I won’t wear them!

  2. I have quite a few coverups and tend to go more for ones that look like dresses (or were in fact dresses that I just didn’t love as a dress). I rarely wear them though since I rarely wear a swimsuit anyway.

  3. Not a swimsuit girl so not a cover-up girl 🙂 I don’t like to get wet so I prefer to wear an athletic skirt and tank on the boat or on the beach. I know, I know….I own swimsuits but just don’t like the “restricted” feeling.
I love all the cover-up styles you have – you are ready for those days at the pool!

    1. Oh really? I am surprised since you boat! I also wear an athletic skort sometimes and I forgot to mention that. I am in need of a new one. Now I rarely go to a pool and am usually just on the boat.

    1. It’s a bit too long, so I guess I need a wedge sandal with it. It gives off serious Mrs. Roper vibes. They don’t take up much room so I have trouble getting rid of any of mine, but I did finally weed out really old tankini suits!

  4. You will love that new cover-up! It’s the one I have, that I love so much that I immediately bought a second one in a pattern to wear as a shirt. The more I wear the cover-up (three times this week so far), the more I love it and how gauzy and roomy it fits. I’ve washed and dried it several times now, and it does not shrink. I also bought myself a second swimsuit last night, just like my other one that I shared on my blog recently, but the top is navy and the bottom is a gauzy hot pink, white, and navy tropical print. I’ll share about it in Friday’s post! Yay for the summery things!

    1. I hope so! We are all about the gauze! I’m glad you found things you love! I have hardly shopped in 2024 but I have ordered myself a few things and it’s been so fun! They should start arriving soon. I’m pretty proud of myself for being content for so long!

  5. Love your choices. I feel like coverups are half of the fun of summer attire. I love the dress ones- I also like a shorter/terry cloth one for boat rides since they are so absorbant

    1. Thank you! I do, too! I have always taken my cover up collection seriously because I like to cover up! Ha! I like the longer ones for doing my day pass at the bougie hotel! I do that like once a year, but it’s fun to have a fancy one. So true – different cover ups for different water experiences.

  6. I have a few flowy, nicer cover ups, but then one that I always end up wearing. The nicer ones I wear more to the beach. The one I wear to the pool is sleeveless with a zip up the front. Great post!

    1. I haven’t had a beach vacay in a long time so maybe I would gravitate toward the older ones if I went to the beach. I mostly go on my boat so I need shorter so I can be a good first mate and handle ropes and do all the first mate duties – lol!

    1. Wow! That’s crazy! Can you make a friend with a pool? Lol! Aww, thank you. I think I will keep them even if I don’t gravitate to them as much. Coverups don’t really go out of style.
