You guys! How is it Friday already? My week went so quickly, but alas, I do have off until Tuesday…

I am happy to link up with Andrea and Erika for Friday Favorites today.

So, my first favorite is that it’s spring break and I’ve had the house to myself for more time than I can remember. I’ve gone somewhere each day, but I’ve not been in a hurry and I’ve had lots of time to do whatever I want. Let’s just say this was much needed!

I discovered the the original Sex and the City is on Netflix. It’s so fun to go back and watch. Were you a fan?

I bought this candle trio at Trader Joe’s and decided to put them all on this piece of wood trivet thing. I really like how it looks and then I pick which one to light!

Ok – new favorite wine for spring/summer and it’s less than six bucks. I’m headed back to get more to keep on hand for when I have people over. I got mine at Trader Joe’s. The bottle is really pretty and would make a good gift, too.

My periwinkle hydrangea never bloomed last spring or summer and my friend said it was due to the polar vortex. It already has little buds on it this year and I am so happy!

I went into the library and they had a multicolor display and I finally told the librarian how much I love these colorful displays each month!

I didn’t make a lot of plans for my spring break but I did make plans to meet my friend Victoria for breakfast and consignment shopping and it was so fun to get caught up!

Another Trader Joe’s find that my kids really liked when they were home:

One of our best dinners involved Jen’s chicken!

We had one crazy stormy day Tuesday but we didn’t lose power. We did have tornadoes near us and lots of destruction. I am super scared of tornadoes and this is the season for them.

I lost my slim can cooler and spent last summer without one so I used the gift card my student gave me to replace it with this adorable Stanley version from Target.

Another good dinner was my Peruvian chicken!

I made the best cake – I used a Betty Crocker fudge mix and it already called for 3 eggs so I didn’t add an extra. The frosting was on the Hershey’s cocoa canister and it is so freaking good- it was 3 cups powdered sugar, 1 stick butter, 1 teaspon vanilla, 1/3 cup cocoa and 1/3 cup milk. This is a reminder to me to always look at the recipes on the boxes and packages of different items.

One of my outings was to TJ Maxx and they had some great things! I am debating adding these because I have worn the heck out of my higher heeled lighter raffia version.

Swoon! I loved this Target outdoor dinnerware and I am debating getting some.

I think most hard seltzers are vodka based, but these are tequila and I tried one last weekend and loved it. I bought myself a box to keep at home.

I’m almost done with book number 2:

Then, I have the third one ready to go:

Everyone around here is talking about the eclipse. I ordered glasses from Amazon but plan to stay in my back yard. I am probably more afraid of getting stuck in horrible traffic than I am of tornadoes. Plus, I have to work the next day. This video that showed each state in reference to the eclipse was cool:

I think Tom will be at work and kids will be on campus but I do think I will have one companion for sure – my new pup! We are picking him up Saturday morning! I can’t believe it!

I keep having Facebook memories pop up because this is about the time we got Ernie 11 years ago. Look at Baby Ernie!

I’m waiting to tell you all his name when I formally introduce you next week!

Happy Friday! Happy Weekend! Happy Eclipse?

Amy

  1. I’m excited for you and your new puppy! Look at that sweet Ernie too, so many good times you had with your boy.

It sounds like your week has been perfect! I love a spring break at home just taking it easy and doing things I love. It’s like practice for retirement.

That chocolate frosting? OMG. I used to make it all the time, it is so much better than a can and it’s not hard. Makes a huge difference in my opinion to have a great frosting. YUM!!!

    Have the best weekend Amy!

    1. Thank you! I’m nervous and excited!
It really has and it really has made me think about retirement.
My trick is to use a box mix and then do homemade frosting. I think box mixes turn out great!

  2. I love those raffia sandals! I saw some cute ones last weekend when Mom went shoe shopping, and I haven’t stopped thinking about them. I’m debating going back today or tomorrow and picking out a pair before they run out. I’m so glad you’ve had a great week and that you’re picking up the new pup tomorrow! I can’t wait to meet him. Everyone is talking eclipse here, too. Ours is happening around 1:26 p.m. and we’re having a cooking out and eclipse party at work that afternoon! Enjoy your day and weekend, my friend!

  3. we were in the closet during those tornadoes! Can’t wait to meet your new little fur baby. You have the sweetest students! We’re in the homestretch for this school year, I can’t wait for summer and warmer weather 😊

  4. We plan to watch the eclipse from our yard as well; I even ordered a filter for my phone since I want to try and snap a few photos if I can figure out how it works. I’m terrified of tornadoes too and while I hated that we had a bit of ice and snow yesterday (and the aftershocks of an earthquake this morning) I’ll take that over a tornado any day.

  5. I love the colorful library display. The skinny can Stanley is perfect. I haven’t seen those. I can’t wait for puppy pics, name and info! I know you still miss Ernie, but a puppy will bring happiness back to your house. We got Homer quicker than I thought we’d get a puppy, and we all couldn’t wait to get home to him last night haha
I hope you have a great weekend

  6. Yay for the new puppy! I’d just seen a post on FB (so not sure how true) to keep your pets inside during the eclipse since they can’t wear the glasses and the brightness can also hurt them. May be worth some research for your babe.

  7. I’m so glad to hear that you’ve had a great break from school and hope it’s all you need to finish the home stretch! I love the look of the TJMaxx sandals and need to check them out, hopefully the heel is not high on them. I saw the Target dinnerware on a blog last week and can’t stop thinking about them, I love the blue! I’m so looking forward to hearing about the little puppy and what his name is. Enjoy the rest of your time off!

  8. It sounds like you have had a lovely Spring break. I ended up re-watching Sex and the City late last year, I still love it!
Ohh! I do like the sounds of that wine, rose is my favourite and that is such a pretty display in the library.

  9. I’m so excited about your new puppy! I watched Sex and the City back in the day. I just heard some people talking about it and how it might be considered politically incorrect today. Your library is #goals. Neither of the two libraries I go to have these fun displays! Have a wonderful weekend.

  11. I can’t wait to meet your new puppy! Congratulations! How wonderful to be on spring break and enjoy some time to relax. I have one more week to go and then we are off for autumn break. I miscalculated and thought that last week was our last week of term. But no, we have one more to go and it’s been such a long 11 week term. So I’m counting down! Have a wonderful weekend.

  12. I can’t wait to see your new puppy! It looks like your break was relaxing! I was sick during most of break and still get a sore throat at the end of the day, nearly three weeks later. I’m starting to think I have allergies. I bought the croissant swirls at TJ last night and can’t wait to try them. I like their apple blossoms in the frozen section. They’re like mini apple pies, just enough. Have a great weekend!
