It’s Friday and I am at the end of my long week (I will tell you why it was long later in the post! ! I am happy to link up with Andrea and Erika for a happy post!

I did not have off on Monday for President’s Day, but I had the whole day to work at school on catching up. I took time out for a cup of tea with colleagues, and I went to breakfast/lunch at Con Huevos like a real girl with an hour lunch break. Tuesday, we had another teacher day with meetings, but I still had a cup of tea, lunch out at McAllister’s and time to get things done and ready for students on Wednesday.

Do I still have my frustrations and personal problems of the last weeks – yes! But I shifted my mindset this week with the help of a great little book, lots of sunshine, and a pep talk I gave myself!

So, let’s do some happy favorites from the week

Andrea recommended this and it’s so good! I’ve been struggling to get all of my water in so this has been nice.

I really like my new Duck Plump as a topper.

I bought this in November and just now need a replacement. It’s pricey but it lasts a long time (I think – 4 months for a deodorant is pretty good, no?) and it serves as my fragrance, too. I need to test it in the sweaty summer months. Combined with my Diva laundry capful that I add in with my regular Tide myself smells real nice.

I marveled at my coordination in my Monday outfit. Yes, I wore tequila earrings to school with no students present. I’ve really enjoyed this light yellow/green flourescent press on mani this week!

This was our Mexican breakfast/lunch on Monday:

And, my salad and baked potato on Tuesday:

A couple of teachers skipped lunch or brought the same old boring sandwich, but I felt it was important to make the days “feel different” and I was right. This was one way I was kind to myself this week.

After work on Monday, I met my friend Jessica for a pedicure and a catch up:

I chose a dark teal color and I love it! After, we tried to get a drink and snack at Mojito, but it was closed so I asked her back to my patio and we chatted a bit more. It was so nice!

I had some healthy food faves this week…

Wednesday Erica made ground chicken kofta bowls:

Thursday I made farro, chicken, garbanzo beans with a tahini sauce bowls and it’s on a plate because it was also dinner for my family the night before:

I made a couscous, sweet potato, black bean, red onion meal:

I had a bunless Boca burger on the side:

Ernie and I took a slow sunny walk each day after work:

Puxatawney Phil was right! I kept saying we would get one more winter weather event, but now I’m not so sure.

I chose to go in to work an hour early and stay an hour late Wednesday through today to do my parent teacher conferences – we could do 6 hours however we wanted which was nice – and I was kind to myself by ordering Chinese instead of trying to rush to cook something.

And, it was even so mild that I was able to do my coffee outside one day this week. It reminded me of most of September through November when I did this and What’s App’ed with Mason in England to start each day.

And, again with the color coordination with the nails and the mug! It makes this color loving lady happy!

I’m buoyed by the time change coming soon! Are you excited?

People are starting to talk about the solar eclipse April 8th, too. We are out of school that day – it’s the Monday after Spring Break. We were IN school for the last eclipse and it was a waste of a day, so this is much better.

I cannot recommend this book enough! I already do some of the things so maybe I am a little Swedish?

I hope you also had many, many favorites this week! Leave me one in the comments!

This week I posted Hello Monday, My Current Blogroll, Pinterest Fun, and Fashion Files if you missed anything!

Happy Weekend,

Amy

  1. So good to hear that you have been kind to yourself this week! It’s the best way to deal with unexpected and sometimes disappointing things that pop up. I’m going to take a leaf out of your book and remember to do the same next week. We have extra work things that involve long days as well as a doctor’s appointment that I’m not excited about. It’s just a follow-up appointment but it’s an extra ‘thing’ I have to add to an already busy week. I’m already starting to stress! But after reading your post I’ve decided to add a few things to my week that will make my life easier. Have a wonderful weekend!

  2. I want to dry Duck Plump!

I am so happy to see you did some things for yourself this week, I swear the small things make a big difference. Yesterday I had a ton of to do’s on my list and was running from one appointment to the next and I actually stopped and bought myself a coffee. I felt so spoiled! And ya know what? It was from Wawa – like less than $2 and I was debating whether I should get it or not! Can you believe that? So silly!

Have such a great weekend sweet friend!!

  3. You made the most of the week for sure. Love your springtime nail color. I love the darker pedicure color. I want to get a pedi soon . We have April 8 off too…so random but I will take it, I guess. I hope you have a relaxing weekend.

  4. Yay, so glad you like the Liquid IV. That peach taste is great. I’ve heard the pear is good but I’m not sure if I want to try, lol. I’m so happy you took some Amy time! We just ordered our eclipse glasses. I was in the professional world the last time and we all took turns with only 2 sets of glasses. I bought several pairs this year and plan to go a couple hours south, probably Indy to watch totality. Have a great weekend!

  5. So, I read that book too, after your recommendation. Thanks for that! I liked it; I’m like you and already do lots of those things. I had somewhat of a revelation a few years ago that really changed how I spend my time, and what I spend the time doing. I caught your glimpses of the book in your phrasing of being kind to yourself. I know you will be glad to have the conferences behind you! It was nice of them to let you spend the six hours anyway that would work best for you. A favorite of mine this week has been the weather; it’s been windy, but it feels so good when the weather is warmer! We’ve also had lots and lots of sunshine which is always so nice. Happy Friday to you, my friend!

  6. Yay for being kind to ourselves! It looks like all of your meals look healthy and delicious! I am still struggling with the press on nails….apparently my right hand I use tons more because they haven’t lasted past 2 days. I wish you were closer and I would give you what I have. Have a good weekend!

  8. I love your nail polish color! So pretty for spring. It was 88 yesterday in San Antonio! 😳 I’m really not sure what season it is here 😂 I think today we are back in the 70’s.

  9. It sounds like you had a good time at work at the start of the week. I am glad you are feeling better about things now.
4 months for a deodorant is really good and I love those earrings!!
The clocks don’t change here until the end of March, I just had to check. I don’t want them going forward on the 10th. That’s Mother’s Day for us over here in England. hehehe

  10. Njuta, Hygge, Cosy, lots of ways to savor the moments. Great list of favorites, your Mexican breakfast/lunch looks delicious! We had Taco Tuesday at our small group last Wednesday and I brought way too much avocado so I made guacamole for a late night snack with chips when we got home.

  11. I remember from my teaching days how wonderful it was to go out to lunch on inservice days. I’m glad you did that, and also found other ways to treat yourself during the week. I’m sure it raised your spirits. My highlight this week was getting outside in the sunshine! Hope you have a great weekend!

  12. I saw you posted about that book in the comments on someone else’s blog and I tried to find it and couldn’t. Now that I see the cover I’ll look again. I love both your nail colors!! So much fun for spring, right?

You and Ernie have been on my mind all day – I was happy to see a picture of the two of you walking in the sunshine this week :). Dogs bring so much happiness, comfort, and completeness to our lives, don’t they?

  13. All of your meals look really good! When I was teaching, we always had an hour for lunch between kids’ lunches and their recesses. Of course, we couldn’t take that for lunch because half of it was our prep time. But, it was nice to know we could run down to the small restaurants and grab something to go.

I love those tequila earrings and the way they went with your sweater and nails! So fun! I really need a pedicure. The last time I got one, I asked for the same nail polish the tech was wearing. It ruined my nails so I’ve been letting them grow out. I always regret the color I pick. But, I really like this teal you’ve gotten.

We painted a bedroom this week so that was my fun project for the week! Actually, it really was fun because I love to paint…I do the edging in and find it so soothing. We are down to just the primary bathroom. I think I’m going to put up some peel and stick wallpaper.

It’s so good to see a photo of Ernie! I hope he continues his leisurely strolls for a long time.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. An hour! We have 20 minutes!
      Thank you!
I love a shade of blue on my toenails. It makes me happy. Go get you one! I am sure you just had a bad experience. Don’t get gel – just normal. It will last a good month or so!
I wish I was good at home reno stuff. I am not. I get big ideas, lose motivation, and then whine.
      Thank you! You too!

  14. I’m intrigued; what is that Njuta book about? Am I Swedish!? I checked my library and they have ordered it, so I have to borrow it when they get it!

I’m glad you did the best of your teacher days! Is that maybe something you learnt from the book Njuta…?
