Do you still use Pinterest? It’s such a happy form of social media and I do still use it quite a lot for fashion inspo, ideas on what to wear – even that very day, holiday decor, and interior design ideas.

Recently there was a trend floating around on IG to search for “celebrity, outfit, quote, aesthetic”. I never did figure out if I was supposed to search those separately or all together?

Here’s mine:

Celebrity:

I do want to try tying my sweater around my shoulders and I have seen someone tie a striped Breton shirt and I liked that look. I am still considering some Adidas sneakers.

Outfit:

I do want a blue denim front slit skirt but one that is shorter than pictured here.

Here is my quote:

This really spoke to me. I have been struggling with Ernie, work (and something else happened on Friday) and how long to stay/when to retire, my stage in life changing with soon to be college graduates, work/life balance and a couple of other things.

I am feeling better now and I have a bit more perspective, I think.

My aesthetic:

I think a lot of people got this one, but heck yes! That is the exact color I like my coffee, too! I left the library Saturday with a stack of fiction and non-fiction books and was positively giddy.

I use Pinterest for inspo on how to style a new piece of clothing or an old piece that I need to wear. Here is what I got from “button up shirt outfit”:

I have a green and white stripe and a pink and white stripe!

Even though it sounds lame, I might not have thought to half tuck it or to put a white t-shirt under it. My green and white is a bit snug in the chest so I think I can do the white tee under.

So, yes I still love Pinterest! I don’t pin a lot but I do look around a lot. I don’t really look at anyone elses’ pins anymore either.

What about you? Are you a Pinterest person?

Amy

  1. Oh yes I use Pinterest a lot! I get a lot of recipes from there and use it for things like vacation planning and cardmaking/ scrapbooking ideas too.

  2. I still love and use Pinterest almost daily. I don’t necessarily use it for a reason other than nail inspiration and recipes, but I love looking around; it makes me so happy! You won’t believe this, but my quote and aesthetic were the same as yours. My celebrity was Taylor Swift, thanks but no, and my outfit top two were a flowy dress, and then fitted pants with a shirt and cardigan over it with loafers. That one was spot on! Did I mention that I ordered two of the Old Navy button downs? I got a navy and white pinstripe, and the wider striped bright red and white. I love them both, but I think I need smaller sizes. I’m hoping I can find it in our store here to save time. I did what you suggested, and in one I sized down one, and in the other, I sized down two sizes, but I could have done three sizes smaller in both. They’re so big! This post was fun to read. I’m still praying for you and will continue; I am confident that the Lord will give you the wisdom and discernment you need.

    1. That’s funny! I want to see your Pinterest outfit you got?
I washed and dried my shirts and I still could go down one, but with tucking I like them a bit oversized. You will see the blue and white one tomorrow in Fashion Files. Old Navy does tend to shrink. Try multiple sizes and see! I have had to do up to 3 ON orders before to get sizing right. They are notorious for being not consistent IMO!
Thank you and thank you. I need it!

  3. I use Pinterest to post my blog stuff and it seems like it is still very popular. I also use it for outfit ideas, I am constantly saving book recs, and recipes too. If it wasn’t for Pinterest I could have never known about blogs!

Thinking of you, and really like that quote – suits you perfectly!

  4. I love Pinterest and used it alot for a few years but then quit for awhile. I rediscovered it and am back to using it. I need to clean up my pins. I have so many things I don’t like anymore on there. It’s so useful for coming up with new outfits with clothes I own or dinner ideas!

  5. I use Pinterest for keeping track of books I want to read and have read already. I have one board titled To Read in 2024 and when I see a book I’m interested in I’ll add it. When I read a book, I transfer it or add it to my board titled Books Read in 2024. 🙂

It’s nice to have these on my phone while I’m at the library so I can see what’s on my list and find it. If I find a book at the library that wasn’t on my list (which is quite often) I’ll add it to my books read list after I finish it. I’ve been doing this for two years now and it’s worked out pretty well.

  7. I don’t use Pinterest much anymore! I guess when Instagram came along, it was a form of social media I said goodbye too. I think this trend is fun, and I loved seeing your results.

  8. Great post. I haven’t been using Pinterest as much as I used to, I need to get back to it. I’m going to give the celebrity, outfit, quote, and aesthetic categories a try tomorrow.

  9. I don’t use Pinterest at all anymore and have also seen the IG posts now posting the 4 items. I’ve kind of fallen behind in trends and what people are wearing. I like what i like and at almost 60 i dress more like a 20’ish lol 😂 do not care one bit!!

    1. I actually might have taken a screenshot of yours to use to remind me to do it and to use in the post? I didn’t know how to make it a collage thing – I guess if I had done it through IG.
      Thank you.

  10. I really enjoy your blog, and there is always one thing, but usually more things, in a post that really resonate with me. I have never used Pinterest, but I should because I see that it’s an excellent way to get styling ideas. I can’t get behind the new way of tucking in a shirt and leaving one half of the front hanging totally untucked. It’s too severe looking for me. I can empathize you about big life changes. This late summer into fall I had a lot going on… mostly good changes, but it was a lot for this person who doesn’t like change! I tend to carry all of my family members’ worries and heartache like I’m a beast of burden! I feel deeply, and even news stories will get me. My husband and I are empty nesters, and I miss them too (2 sons, nearly 23 and 26), but I realize they need to forge their own paths. My husband misses them terribly and will text me during the day to say so. He also wants to move closer to them (2.5 and 4.5 hours away by car). There are other changes too, and I never anticipated this. I thought the early years would be the hardest!

  11. OK, I tried that with all four words then each word individually. Apparently, my vibe is Zendaya with a touch of romance…hahaha!! My quotes (depending on which way I went) were actually pretty spot on. I’m going to “borrow” this for a blog post!

I’m going to expose myself as the blogging faker that I am. I had no idea you could use Pinterest for outfit inspirations! I will be checking them out now, though. And, I also don’t understand following a blogger/influencer. I use Pinterest primarily for home decor, ideas for teaching the adult Bible class (students are adults with learning/physical challenges), and recipes. If I get on Pinterest, I’m gone for hours! It’s worse than playing Candy Crush Saga (I gave that up years ago).

I have been an empty nester for a couple of decades now (still blown away my youngest just celebrated his 40th birthday). My kiddos moved out over time so there was always someone around. They all still check in at least weekly if not daily.

It’s hard to know when to retire. My only advice is to not take anyone’s advice! You are truly the only one who can make that decision! I will continue to pray for you, Ernie, and your guys.

  12. How fun! I got Emma Watson in jeans and a brown sweater, an outfit with jeans, black sweater and a black coat, head to toe black (why so much black!?) and my quote was “Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead”. Charles Bukowski – hm, does that mean the universe thinks I’m leading a boring life…?

I don’t use Pinterest much but I get that newsletter from them every day, and it’s fun to see what they believe I’m interested in! It’s very eclectic!

Thank you for a fun post!

  13. Great post! I have been using Pinterest for the last 13 years! Love it! I recently created my new account @blissfulboholiving for my blog and have already hit 131k monthly views just in the last 2 months of using it! I think it’s still a great platform for anyone looking for inspiration or trying to grow a business!
