Happy Valentine’s Day! You better believe I am wearing something with hearts today!

Today is Let’s Look with Shay and Erika and when I saw the topic I thought my post would be too boring for words, but then I thought, what the heck. I enjoy reading other peoples’ routines.

So, today’s topic is “Little Things we do Everyday”…

I am going to focus on a weekday where I go to school around 7:45.

I almost always wake up without an alarm. I go to bed around 9:30 these days and my body wakes me up to go to the bathroom. What motivates me is coffee, though. I both hate and love this. I’m using a good old fashioned coffee pot now.

It’s been life-changing to have this mug warmer. I sit at my dining room table and…

always start my morning with my devotional…

I also light a candle every morning.

I then read my blog list (the blogs I read of other people) and prepare my blog for the next day. I also make sure my breakfast, lunches for Erica and I (if it’s my turn), and Tom’s yogurt are ready to go. I put frozen fruit and granola in a container for Tom every day and he mixes in his yogurt at work. During this time I do a few household tasks that will make my life easier when I get home after school. I also give Ernie lots of pets and help with his high maintenance food, but Tom is the main one who feeds him in the morning and evening.

When it’s time to start getting ready, I apply some coconut oil to my face and jump in the shower and do a body shower only in the morning.

I do minimal makeup, hair, and then get dressed and snap a picture each day for blog purposes. This is what I wore Monday:

I get to school and eat my breakfast, check emails, get things ready for my two different morning classes. After I teach those, I have my planning period to get ready for my third class that I haven’t taught yet.

I get about 10 reels from Tom a day and watch about half of them. He just recently discovered these!

So, I teach Spanish 1, then AP, then have planning, then teach Spanish 3, AP again, Spanish 3 again, and Spanish 3 again. Then, it’s time to go home!

I walk Ernie every day right when I get home.

I start dinner – Monday it was pizza bowls!

Tom calls every day on his way home somewhere between 5:08 and 5:15! I’m pretty sure he is just calling to make sure he will have dinner! Ha!

We eat together after Ernie gets another walk and his dinner. I go take my shower and then I go watch a show for just me in the basement usually. Tom goes to bed at 8:30 and that is just too early for me. I stay up another hour.

I also usually text or talk to one friend a day to check in.

I usually text or talk to a family member.

I laugh every day.

I like my little weekday routine. I wish I had more time at home, though.

My routine changes with the seasons a bit, but this is my current winter routine.

Maybe you can use this post for insomnia? Pretty boring, right?

  1. My mom used to say no news is good news…now I get it! No big drama, no major health crisis, finances ok…everything (mostly) on an even keel-I’m thankful for “boring”! Will you share your blog roll in a future post?

    1. So, so true! Also, I can’t share everything on my blog because I don’t want to hurt any feelings or share things that aren’t mine to share. My life is far from perfect.
I will! Again, I don’t want to hurt any feelings but I do have a list!

  2. I got to bed by 9:30 too – used to stay up later but my body feels better when I go early. My husband stays up later than me. Sleep is so important to me lately, I have even given up alcohol during the week – no more every once in a while glass of wine – ugh – I kinda hate grown up me!

    1. I try to listen to my body and when I start falling asleep I should go to bed. I think I could live without an alarm. My body wakes me up before it anyway! I think that is the key for you to be asleep before he starts his snoring! Has anything gotten better? I agree that alcohol can really affect routine during the week. Even the fact that if I have wine I drink less water. I really need to get my water in.

  3. I love reading about routines! This wasn’t boring at all. I think it’s interesting to see how people go about their days. I like that you watch something each day for yourself; I do the same thing, usually when I come home from work. (Minus Thursdays.) You know there’s nothing I love more than watching a movie! I love getting to do that on the weekends when I’m alone, which I haven’t had a lot of alone time lately. I’ll have lots of that this weekend!

    1. I do, too! I think I’m just nosy. I look forward to my after shower show! I really only watch tv then. I have gotten to where the tv isn’t on during the day at all. On weekends I will maybe watch a movie or get caught up on a show in the afternoon. I haven’t had much alone time either. I really need a weekday at home to do whatever – a snow day! I want one more!

  4. Your routine isn’t boring! I thrive on some type of routine every day. It might change slightly over the years but without routine I am forgetful!

    1. I want the weekdays to also hold things that I enjoy. I can’t just live for the weekend. My favorite is being up with a candle lit knowing that my kids are sleeping under my roof. It doesn’t happen much lately but I love when it does.

  5. Your early morning routine sounds like a wonderful way to begin the day. My hair is so high maintenance that, even when I got up early (5:45), it would take an hour or so to get ready. But, I read, prayed, and prepped myself for the day during that time.

I’m a night owl and am rarely asleep before 12:30 or so. Because of that, I’m also not up before 8:30! My husband is the opposite. Luckily, he doesn’t mind that we have such different sleep schedules.

I think these kinds of posts are the best. I wonder what would happen if I did a post like this. You kind of feel like you get locked into a niche with your blog, right? There are some days when I have to post twice, and I know my second post, which is wordier, gets read less. But, those are the ones I like best.

Thanks for sharing your day with us. I hope you’ll link up at the Weekend Traffic Jam on Thursday.

    1. I actually enjoy reading routines, too, and am always open to adding/doing things differently if I read someones’ routine. I am naturally a morning person and I like that about myself. I really do feel like the mornings are a gift – especially in the summer. I love being up early.
I think you should do your routine as a post!

    1. Thank you! Sometimes I get annoyed by all the reels – like do you think I have nothing to do – I’m teaching! Ha! But, I don’t say anything. I respond to about half.

  6. I can tell you that was not a boring read! I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading your weekend routines too. But I agree; the weekdays should be fun too! Now when the kids are grown up I have a lot more energy in the afternoons! But I’m still a homebody, at least during wintertime.

I love my mornings! I also wake up without the alarm, somewhere around 5:45. It’s wonderful to move around the apartment when the rest of the family is sleeping, make my coffee, put on make up. I’m never alone during the day, so that’s precious time for me.

    1. Oh good! You are too kind! I did have more energy in the afternoons, but now…not so much. I will say the recent sunshine does help, though.
I feel the same about my mornings – the quiet is so needed for me to be ready to face the people!

  7. Not boring at all! I always love to read how people spend their days. Those pizza bowls look divine, too! The crust is my least favorite part of a pizza, so I’m totally down with just eating a bunch of toppings in a bowl! That’s the good stuff. :o)
