Let’s talk about earrings! Who thought naked lobes were so ugly that they needed to be adorned? Are these also the thoughts that keep you awake at night? I can’t remember when I got my ears pierced but it was probably between the ages of 8 and 12? Did you know your lobes grow as you age? Just another wonderful part of the ageing process – you’re welcome.

I recently did a winter closet clean out and I finally tackled the elephant in my closet – my jewelry! I had been avoiding this mess for quite some time. The before pictures are non-existent, but here are the afters.

My necklaces are on the necklace tree with the exception of some in the top drawer:

My earrings are in plastic containers in the top drawer. I’m not sure this is the best place, but these are the facts.

I pulled them out to show you what is in my earring wardrobe.

But, first, I won’t wear heavy earrings anymore. My earrings are all light as a feather – for real – except for one that is too cute to not keep.

I’m not showing you all of my collection, but I am showing you my most worn, for sure!

Let’s go left to right:

hot pink Gucci-esque bees, two different rose pairs, sparkly red, my initials on animal print, and then my St. Patrick’s beer, and my two Derby pairs

These are grouped together because I plan to wear the pinks and reds in February, the beer in March, and then start with the Derby!

Topo Chico orange and silver, Prosecco that went to the UK with me, mint julep, white champagne, black tassels, tequila, pineapple

Yes, I stlil get a crazy amount of joy from my beaded earrings!

Now I am using a plastic divider for my metal based earrings:

I have really embraced smaller earrings. I wear the top two a bunch – the starburst and the small gold hoops. I love the Pavoi brand on Amazon and have had great luck with the quality and have gifted some, too. The tiny gold diamonds (not real) are for my second hole. Do you have a second piercing? I got them my senior year of college instead of the tatoo that I kind of wanted. I am still tatoo-less – for now! There are two reasons why I will probably remain that way – I don’t like pain or wasting money when it could go toward shoes. I guess I wore two pairs of earrings for like a year and then just left the piercings alone and ignored them for almost 30 years. A couple of summers ago I decided to stick an earring in them, and they were still pierced. Now, I am enjoying wearing a small pair sometimes with another pair.

The gold balls are from Loft – love.

The skinny hoops are from J.Crew Factory and the fat hoops are Pavoi from Amazon. I wear both all the time. The rectangular gold ones are from a local shop called Work the Metal and I love them and wear them out sometimes to be a little fancier.

I definitely gravitate toward gold, but I like silver, too I wear these four pairs a lot – the white ones only in the summer. You also see here a silver and gold pair that I adore. I kept my Kendra Scotts because I really like the grey with gold.

I keep my small earrings and more second-holers in this little dish:

I have faux pearls in three sizes, cute little pearl half hoops, little pearl and gold, black and gold (I took these to the UK), little gold doodads, and these little bars in two sizes

And, I have silver diamond studs, a crystal and gold, and a pink and gold – all usually second holers.

Showing you the cute half moons here with some others you have seen:

I am super happy with my earring collection! But, there is always room for another pair! They always, always fit!

Do you think I have a lot?

They all get worn and they all feel like me!

I let about 20 pairs go that I wasn’t wearing.

I’m all ears if you want to chime in!

Amy

  1. I have a lot of earrings and just jewelry in general. Like you I find they always fit! I have been getting better about letting some of my older pieces go if they’re tarnished or I’m just not wearing them… but I have a much harder time parting with jewelry than I do with parting from clothes!

  2. You have so many fun earrings! I literally never change my earrings…and if I do, it’s between a couple pairs of stud earrings. Hadley and all her 8th grade friends are big on gold hoops. Hadley has hers all organized in her vanity, so she’s on top of it.

    1. Thank you! I am an earring person and have always been! I see lots of hoops these days! I just lost one of my thin ones at school and I’m so sad. Have to replace!

  3. Your beaded earrings are a lot of fun and you have quite the collection! I’m wearing smaller earrings more these days, in fact, I wear an Amazon pair just about every day. They really are so good.
I meant to comment the other day about the KS Rayne necklace – I have two and I swear I cannot part with them! I never wear them anymore because they do look dated but man, I cannot seem to let go – ha!!!
I have been purging my closet lately and it feels so good!

    1. I really do! I am also wearing smaller earrings, too and loving it! The Rayne necklace was my wardrobe maker! Ha! The ones I let go are a bit tarnished, so I was ok with it.

  4. Last year I discovered that Walmart has really great quality “told” earrings that come in a six pack. I’m still wearing those, and they’re all the smaller side. I usually wear either tiny hoops or gold crescents/balls in my second holes, but I’ve been letting them rest the past two months. I think one of the 2nd holes got infected, so I need to go back to spraying them down with alcohol before inserting them, to cut back on the chance of that happening again. If I’m not wearing small gold earrings, I’m wearing my signature big gold hearts from Amazon. I only wear gold these days!

    1. Really? I had no idea! I like to get the 6 packs at Loft! They have some cute ones. Oh, that’s a bummer but yes, try that and make sure you don’t get it infected again. I really need some hearts!

  5. Fun collection! I can’t remember when I got my ears pierced, it’s been years. I have just the one piercing in each ear and wear a variety of gold and silver. Your post makes me think I need to do one on earrings and jewelry in general. But first, I need to get it organized!

  6. Growing up we had a neighbor down the street that always wore huge heavy earrings and her ear lobes had stretched! I still remember that and I’m very picky about earrings that are too heavy! I don’t think you have too many earrings. I seem to have more earrings and necklaces and fewer bracelets. I love bracelets but sometimes they get in the way.

    1. Oh – that hurts me to think about it. Same! I need to up my bracelet game. I donated a bunch that I am not wearing anymore but I really love a bracelet. Yes – I sometimes have to take them off while typing.

  7. When we were wearing masks everywhere in 2020, all I wore was small post type earrings that wouldn’t get caught between the masks and my hair like dangles or hoops did. Since then I mostly wear posts, sometimes hoops, but I still have some KS that I wear and can’t bear to part with! Also I have metal allergies and wear a gold and tiny diamond stud most of the time that don’t compete with my glasses.

    1. Yes! That is what started me changing to smaller ones. I also had the really lightweight leather ones that worked with masks. That makes sense. Sounds like you have a lovely collection that works for you!

  8. You have such a cute earring collection! My daughter really likes the Pavoi brand as well. I have a second piercing and I wear small pearl earrings along with whatever regular pair I wear every day.

  10. Great earring collection! I especially love your little pearl/gold studs and the little gold drops. I wear the same ones everyday because they’re comfortable to sleep in. I recently got some flat back studs from Amazon for my 2nd and 3rd holes and I love them. Pavoi is a great jewelry brand.

    1. I think I got those in a set at Loft? They often have great deals on multiple pairs of small earrings. They have really cute ones! I don’t sleep in any and I also don’t sleep in my wedding rings anymore. I love Pavoi!

  11. I like the way you organize your jewelry. It’s similar to the way mine used to be. I really need to get in there and re-organize. I really like those beaded earrings. Where do you find such fun ones? And, I hear you on heavy earrings. I have a gorgeous pair from Banana Republic. But, I only wear them for blog photos because I’m almost sure they’d rip my ears if I wore them too long or caught them on something.

    Have a wonderful week, Amy!

    1. Thank you! I found most of them at our little boutiques around town. You can find some on Amazon, too. Just search “beaded earrings”. You can get those support things but life is too short for heavy earrings!

  12. You do have quite a collection! I love them! I’m sad I let my earring holes grow over, so I no longer have pierced ears. I may have to get them done again soon because I see so many cute earrings I want!

  13. Wow, so many earrings! I love to wear those colored beady things in the summer, but I must confess I don’t think I have any right now?
I have two holes, and always wear my diamond studs in one of them and something “funnier” in the other, like small gold hoops or something.
