Happy Hump Day and Happy Currently day where we link up with Jennifer and others to share some things that are currently happening in our lives!

Loving

the fact that my library is open on Sundays because I just can’t always get all the errands done on Saturdays – and that I just got to pick up these requests:

Do you ever check out cookbooks? I do! I love to see if it’s something I would want to buy.

And, this:

and my holiday nails…

I felt like the tree jewels were going to come off, so I polished a clear topcoat over that nail.

Gifting

um, nothing right now, but I have two student aides and Erica has one and we decided to order them lunch one day next week as our gift. We plan to tell them soon and let them pick their orders.

Wrapping

up the weeks before break! Since I’m not gifting, I’m not wrapping. I am rapping sometimes in class as a teaching method, though.

Here is my little Spanish one class who also got to play Go Fish last Friday. I think they had a lot of fun. I hope they are falling in love with the language because that is so important in level one, so that they continue studying it.

I really don’t feel badly about not gifting or wrapping. We have gotten pretty minimal anyway over the years.

Hoping

for smooth travel and some good family time. It’s been a while, you all, since we were a group of four.

Attending

a beautiful chapel service to start the advent season at our kids’ college. This is their little chapel as the sun was setting:

It was weird being on campus without Mason being there and it was also weird because I haven’t been on campus much lately. I had all the feels at the start of the season and because of the love and care I feel this university has given my kids.

This is our last year there and I think I was extra emotional about that and about missing Mason. Jack and his singing group sang several songs from the loft of the chapel.

So, while I am not gifting or wrapping, I am enjoying the stuff like this that is the true meaning of the season!

What are you up to currently?

Amy

  1. That chapel is beautiful! I am loving your Christmas nails. I just did a set yesterday that are gnomes and all red/green and sparkly with glitter. I figured it was time to start embracing the holiday nail sets.

    1. Isn’t it sweet! They ran out of room because it’s so small and the service was well attended! Oh cute – I want to see your nails! I decided to not get any more sets with little jewels because while the nail stayed on, the jewels started dropping like flies! It has been fun for me to get in the spirit!

  2. So much to love! Those holiday nails are stunning. You’re making me want to go change mine up! That chapel is stunning. I could feel the emotions in you as I read about that; I would have cried too, if I’d been in your shoes. I know you’re counting down the days until you get to see Mason! I know you’ve missed his presence since he’s been gone, but also loving that he’s had the time of his life. This is what the season is all about!

    1. Thank you! See, that is maybe why press ons are good for me – not much of a commitment. I would often be so tired of the color with dip or gel but obviously didn’t want to waste my money by going back too soon. Anyway, it’s working for me for now!
I get emotional a lot these days. I also got emotional on the phone with the Delta agent while asking him about our seat selection. He was chatty and said that it was going to be cold there and I told him we were picking up my son and I started to get choked up.
I think it’s a combo of this stage in parenthood, premenopausal symptoms, the holidays, missing Mason, and more, you know?
I think I would rather cry at the drop of a hat than to go through life emotionless and passionless, so what can I say?

  3. I am so excited about your trip! The chapel is so charming. I understand the feelings you have as you are in the last year at the school; I feel like that when I go up to UF.
I have 11 work days (including today until break!) and I am so excited!!

  4. I love your holiday nails and that chapel is just beautiful!! ❤️ I have been busy prepping for my youngest daughter to come home for the holidays with her boyfriend. He is from Canada and is going to Rome for the spring semester. Due to some travel paperwork issues he will be with us for Christmas. With regard to your last post, I am aiming for a low spend Jan and Feb!

    1. Thank you! It is! Wow – that is a big deal! I love Canadians! Weird statement but every single one I have met has been wonderful! That will be a strange year for you but I think it’s wonderful you are letting him be with you and maybe it will be fun for the whole family.

  5. What a beautiful chapel! I know you are so looking forward to being a group of 4 again. That is so awesome that your library is open on Sunday. Ours are not. I am on hold for that cookbook, and can’t wait. I know what you mean about having all the “feelings” about your kids’ university as they go through senior year. I don’t feel that way about grace’s school…maybe it was the way they handled covid and some other issues. But I am very invested in Auburn and know I will miss it when Jack finishes in 2 years.

    1. Thank you! The library Sundays are a relatively new thing! I am not a big fan of this cookbook for some reason. I thought I would really like it because it is in her empty nest phase, but there didn’t seem to be much I would cook for Tom and I – maybe I was just in a mood! I can imagine that you would feel that way – I think the way her college handled it was extremely strange and one of the worst I have heard! Only freshmen on campus? So weird! I always feel happy on their campus. I feel that they have thought of everything! I want to work there, in fact. Some of their professors say “hi” to us when they see us at performances. That’s pretty cool! My friend also loves Auburn for her sophomore who is on the equestrian eventing team.

  6. Our library is open on Sundays as was the one when we lived up north. Is it rare for them to be open? Maybe, I should check out a cookbook or two so I can plan some different meals. I cried at all my kids’ graduations, baby baptisms, beautiful music…you name it, I probably cry about it. But, they are, for the most part, happy tears. I hope the next several days pass quickly for you so that you’re soon in the UK.

    1. I feel like it just started for us in KY but my sister in Indiana has been able to go to the library on Sundays for a long time? I think it’s fun to check out cookbooks – now I know the one I got is not one I would buy. I seem tough on the outside to many, but I can be quite sensitive and emotional. They are almost passing too quickly at this point as I am second guessing all that I need to do!
