Well, it’s Monday again and one of the best parts is linking up with Sarah and Holly and reading about all of my blogger friends’ weekends!

I will be real honest with you – this was one of those weekends where I thought – do I even have enough to share? Ha!

Tom was under the weather and that did affect some of our plans.

Let’s go back to Friday – I taught the kids in a few of my classes to play Go Fish in Spanish after our quiz. Can you believe that a lot of the kids had never played? I reviewed numbers 2-10 – ha! – and gave them the words for Ace, Jack, King, and Queen.

They seemed to have so much fun! I put a sticker on all of them and told them if they spoke English during the game, they would lose their sticker. There were lots of laughs which warmed my heart. I like to do something loose at the end of class on Fridays.

I had Erica over for a glass of wine after school and she looked at my “packing practice”. I had all of the things I thought I was taking laid out. She gave me good advice and we realized I have too many bottoms and not enough tops.

I used my napkins I bought last year:

I walked Ernie and enjoyed the dusk:

Erica made a joke that she “knows I am saying no to all things Christmas this year”. That really isn’t true! I am wearing festive clothing and doing a few community things before our trip, I hope. I am also doing some holiday things in my classroom – not forgetting to include other holidays besides Christmas and also talking about winter in general. I am just choosing to do “Christmas light/lite” while in the US this year!

I wore my new Target.com Christmas tree sweater on Monday to school and then again out to eat on Friday night:

We met our friends for Mexican, sadly. We were trying to do a pizza place but it was too busy! Go figure – on a Friday night at 6:30!

Saturday morning was pretty mild and I was able to enjoy my breakfast on a holiday plate al fresco.

Errand time! I wore my Prosecc Ho Ho Ho to run errands. Erica told me I shouldn’t take this on the trip!

Aldi doesn’t open til 9:00 and I got there soon after and had the whole place to myself!

I had plans to do lunch and shopping with my friend after I put groceries away and did some chores. It was quite mild and I wore this:

We had a lovely little lunch at Steak and Bourbon and then did some browsing. Neither of us bought anything.

We split a gouda burger:

After we parted ways, I got to have a really nice FaceTime with Mason and I gave Tom the phone for a bit, too.

I finally finished The Burnout. It was cute and I liked it, but it just took me forever to read it! I do think it moved a bit too slowly.

Finally! I got to start The Christmas Wager and I am already finding it hard to put down! Also, I wasn’t hungry after a late lunch, so I made something for Tom and then sat on the patio, made a decaf coffee, lit a candle, and just savored this because I know I can’t do it much more!

Ernie gave me the side eye but stayed out there with me:

Sunday morning meal prep – my turn for 3 lunches and I am doing breakfast bowls, Big Mac bowls, and grilled chicken, potatoes, and broccoli this week.

And, this is what enough chicken for Ernie while we are gone looks like. I was practicing!

My black nails I had on last week lasted their full 7 days and could have gone longer, but I was bored with that color, so I took them off Saturday night and let them breathe. Yesterday I lined up a holiday set:

Before cutting and filing them down:

Kinda fun!

So, that’s about it for my weekend…see I told you. Don’t say I didn’t warn you…

Amy

  1. Sounds like a great weekend! I love your holiday nails, so fun. I am thinking of getting a manicure, I need to do it this week. I am so bad about putting it off but I have a few things this weekend that are festive and it would be nice to have pretty nails.
I bet you all are so excited and counting down the days until your trip!

    1. Thank you! You should treat yourself. If I don’t wear these on the trip I am going to get gel. I really don’t want to do that to my nails so I am leaning towards just wearing press ons and bringing another set. Yes, I am glad I have so much to keep me busy to make the days until we leave go faster!

  3. It’s a great idea to practice things for when the real thing comes up. I love your holiday nails! Are you going to have them on when you go on your trip? I’m just curious! They’re small enough to pack if you need to take an extra set with you! I love Ernie’s side eye. He’s the cutest!

  4. My Nov spending diary: OH MY!
    Dine $274.78
    Tutor $ 75.00
Grocery $ 1300.01 (we buy half a beef once a year so this does not include beef)
Gas $ 280.81 – I work from home and my husband has a company vehicle
    Hair $ 65.00
    Misc $ 2.30
    School $12.58
    Kitchen $ 11.86
    Doctor/Med $ 57.17
    Vet $ 185.42
    House Repairs $ 162.74
    TV/Phone/Internet $ 141.25
    Santa/Polar Express Train $ 119.68 (two kids)
    TOTAL $ 2,688.60

I had some rewards/gift cards to use for clothing – bought very minimal
It was a total eye opener for me – it actually had me telling the kids to be wise with their choices. We live in PA and our gas has a tax on it and groceries are stupid high

  5. Sounds like a good weekend. I hope Tom is feeling better. My Impress nails were a bust…just didn’t like the way they felt on my nails and knew I wouldn’t be able to do my contacts. Ho hum!

  6. What a fun teacher you are! I can’t believe they hadn’t played “Fish.” I need to see if my grands know how. We could play that at Christmas. I hope your husband is feeling better. When mine is feeling punky, everything comes to a halt! Your nails look quite festive. I’ve never tried press on nails. Maybe I should give them a try. We have a new Mexican restaurant opening where a burger joint closed. Your weekend looked quite busy.

    Have a wonderful week, Amy!

    1. Thank you! I do try, but I don’t always achieve it. That is a great idea to teach them some games. Oh yes – men being sick is a whole new level – man flu! Thank you – I really like them and maybe you would, too. Fun – I hope you get to try it soon!

  7. What a wonderful weekend! I was left playing cards with my students… It’s amazing how many have never played or don’t know the simplest games. You really do some pretty cool things with your kids 🙂
LOVE the Holiday nails… I tried those press on, and they just did not work for me- boo.
Looks like you had a great weekend despite your husband being under the weather. Ernie is such a cute guy.

    1. Thank you! Right? They choose their phones over card games in their free time. That’s sweet of you to say – I do try. They are working for me for now, but who knows? I think the reason they don’t bother me while on is that I am cutting my natural nails quite short and the short press ons even shorter than they come. They don’t feel like anything is on. We think Ernie is quite cute! Thank you!

      1. Hi Amy! Yes, it’s been crazy over here and I have tried to balance everything you know… But I’m happy and enjoying the season! You too I hope! You’re leaving for Europe soon! When!? My last day is Thursday, too late according to me, especially since Swedes celebrate Christmas the 24th. Have a wonderful Saturday, I bet you are busy!
