How was your holiday yesterday? Are you still full?

I’m not sure if the weekly link up is happening, but I still have some favorites!

Happy Black Friday if you celebrate – ha!

Here are some favorites from my week!

Sometimes a simple, perfectly cooked baked potato is all you need for dinner:

I microwaved this after poking holes, rubbing some olive oil and kosher salt on top. I put a bit of butter, bacon bits, cheese, and green onion on top.

I found the protein snacks at Aldi that Jen mentioned!

I also grabbed this, but the pretzels were stale and the cream cheese was a bit runny, so this probably won’t be a re-purchase for me. But, I will definitely get the protein packs again!

Last Saturday, Beth and I went downtown for a bourbon anniversary at Evan Wiliams and we were seriously like tourists in our own city. Beth was born and raised here, and this was always my closest big city to my hometown, so it feels comfortable to me. We walked several blocks of downtown and noticed so many new and revitalized spaces. We were super impressed with this new boutique hotel. How pretty! Those are pennies behind the signage.

Speaking of pennies, I laid out all of the things I needed to put in my small purse when attending my best friend’s dad’s funeral. I was careful to place them on a space on the table where nothing else was. I brought my small purse from my closet to the table and look what was there:

My dad has been leaving me pennies (I like to believe!) and he knew it would be hard that day. How cool is that? I shared the story with Heather and told her to also look for pennies.

My makeup situation is just sad. I have been trying to be frugal and use up what I have since last spring. I finally got rid of anything old or anything I was no longer using. Tom saw it in the trash/recycling and asked who threw away $500 worth of makeup. I seriously have had many of these lipsticks for 5-10 years. This is what I was left with below.

Also, I am debating whether to re-order Seint or try Merit. I want solids/creams and an easy 5-minute face. Can anyone speak about Merit? I also thought maybe I could find dupes for the 4 Merit products I want. I also want some of the new formula Lipsense lipstick.

I am at the point where I need new everything!

I went out Sunday early afternoon to Aldi and the traffic was crazy! I had all the Target toiletries I needed in my Target cart on the app – shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and the Mrs. Meyer’s peppermint hand soap and kitchen cleaner. I was going to go in and shop, but after seeing the traffic I was like – nope! I placed that order as quick as my little finger could perform. Yes, I will be relying on online ordering as much as possible, because people are everywhere!

On the way to Aldi, a car did something really stupid to me and went around me while I was patiently waiting for the car in front of me to turn. Then, I saw him do something even more dangerous to another car. The car was turning left but it wasn’t quick enough for him, so he went around and turned left in front of the car! He could have caused two accidents – one with me and one with the other car. And, guess where this car ended up turning – TJ Maxx! What did you save, idiot? Did you save one minute so you could get the maxx for the minimum? Are drivers also acting crazy in your neck of the woods? It really upsets me that people are so impatient and putting others at risk. Did I tell you that I confronted a guy at the gym who did a similar thing to me a couple of months ago? He passed me on a road going to the gym as I was getting into the left lane to turn. He could have caused a wreck. I pulled into my spot and watched him sit in his car (not in a hurry anymore?) then I went in. When he finally entered the gym, I said to him, “are you ok? I’m the car that you passed so I want to make sure you are ok and that you didn’t have an emergency”. He was stunned. Can you believe I did that?

So, I guess the favorite here would be staying in and ordering online to avoid people? Ha!

This is the view from my classroom window. I feel so lucky to have two windows. I have been in the same room for 20 years.

Tom got my umbrella out and had it ready like this for me to go to work in the rain on Tuesday:

I showed you Wednesday what I’ve been wearing but left out Tuesday and this is what I wore:

Some more Aldi favorites. This sliced cheese is like $1.89 a package.

A few teachers had kids write thank you notes and I was touched:

Another great Aldi find. These storage bags would be good for food gifts, too.

This is my first attempt at sharing a video on ye ol’ blog. I will leave you with this – Tom and I were walking Ernie and then he got excited at the end of our walk!

So thankful for him!

What were your favorites this week?

Amy

  1. So many things to love and comment on from today- I love your penny story, though. I absolutely believe the Lord does things like that for us to be comforted when we most need comforting. My sister experiences something similar with seeing hearts in nature; her daughter Ashley died when she was three days old because of a heart problem. I call those kisses from the King. My friend Kari who passed away a few years ago is the one I got this phrase from. I think it’s true!

I love Ernie so much…it’s so good to see him living his best life. I’m thankful for our fur babies as well! They bring us so much joy and comfort for when we’re alone. 🖤Enjoy round #2 today!

  2. I love seeing all your Aldi finds. What a shame the cream cheese and pretzels were no good as they sound so delicious (if they were fresh!) I love how your dad leaves you pennies, I think I might have commented before (I repeat myself a lot these days) that my mum sends white butterflies. Ernie is so cute and well done on sharing a video. Have a great weekend!

  3. What a sweet story about the pennies. I agree that people are everywhere it seems and I am spending my Black Friday shopping from my computer. I think now that I workmost every day, it is just nice to have a morning where I didn’t have to be anywhere at a certain time. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  4. Ernie’s still got lots of energy…so fun! The drivers and traffic have been crazy here too! Jack took me to Aldi while he was home, and I don’t know why I didn’t go sooner!! I love the prices and will definitely be back for basics. Hope you have a relaxing weekend. PS. Windows are wonderful for teachers! My first year teaching I didn’t have any…I was so happy to move to a room with windows my second year!

    1. He loves the cool weather! I think that is part of it! Oh, I’m so glad Jack took you there – the student becomes the master! We must have windows! Would love to see your new Aldi finds/favorites?

  5. I think we live parallel lives! I had a funeral to go to today for the dad of a family friend. That was definitely not a favorite. ☹️ It’s also the anniversary of my husband’s brother’s death. A favorite would be spending time with family and friends on Thanksgiving and this weekend ❤️ I am also interested in Merit beauty. If you try it, let us know. As for crazy drivers, I was leaving a parking lot and two cars were in front of me waiting to turn right on a one way street. The guy in front of me got impatient and whipped around the car in front of him and made a right turn. He just couldn’t wait an extra 10 seconds! 😡 What is wrong with people!

    1. Maybe we do? So sad, right? Oh, I am sorry. I did place an order for Merit with their big sale. I am so excited to try it. It’s happening more and more with drivers around here and it makes me crazy! I really don’t know!

  6. What a great batch of favorites! I’ll have to look for those baggies….I’m at the stage of life where I like to have those “little” touches when I can 🙂 Thatwas sweet of your husband to leave the umbrella out for you! Must be a “Tom” thing – both Tom’s I am close to are the same way. I didn’t check to see if the video worked for me b/c i’m reading in bed and am not sure if there is noise that would wake my guy up. Videos that aren’t links elsewhere would be a great addition to blogs!

  7. There are times I find pennies and stop and think for a bit about my parents. More often, I get a whiff of my mom’s perfume. Bravo for confronting the guy in the gym. I can’t remember who it was, but someone was just telling me about the same thing happening to them…trying to make a left hand turn and a driver cutting in front of them. It’s crazy.
It’s so good to see Ernie enjoying his wrestling match.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving…everyone got along, lots of good food and leftovers and plans for Christmas made. Now, to put away the pumpkins and lug out the Christmas decor!

    Have a wonderful week, Amy!
