Have you ever played that drinking game? You say “never have I ever done____” and then if someone in the group HAS done it they have to drink? This might liven up your Thanksgiving if you play this game around the table? Ha!

I thought I would share some things I have never done. I will not be drinking during this post because I really have not done these things!

Had a facial – Seriously! I have had maybe 3 massages in my life (full body is what I am talking about- one was when I was pregnant and I got to lay on my stomach with a hole cut out for it!) But, I have never had a facial. I am most interested in a neck and scalp massage which some have told me is part of the facial.

Been fired from a job – Nope! I have also gotten the three post college jobs I wanted (3 different schools) and have never been rejected in the work sense. I was a model employee from the time I had my first job. I was a lifeguard, manager of a pool, newspaper ad designer?, Talbots surplus store worker, PIzza Hut server, floating restaurant on the river server, and I think that’s it. I took pride in being on time and being a good worker. The job I liked the least was working with clothing at Talbots. As much as I like clothing, hanging it up and folding it for a job is super boring. I mostly unboxed and tagged items.

Had a gel pedicure– I guess I never saw the need because my pedi would last a long time, even at the beach. I also really didn’t know people did it! It seems weird to have to put your foot into the gel curing light!

Done the drink wine/paint a picture activity – I actually have a Jack/Mason funny. We drove by Pinot’s Palette which had just opened and I said, “Oh that’s one of those places where women learn to paint and drink wine!” My twins were probably 8 and one of them responded, “I thought women were just born knowing how to drink wine.” Anyway, I hate doing crafts and art. I am not good at it. I also don’t know what the heck I would do with my crappy painting after I finish. I don’t get why you can’t just drink wine. I did really enjoy a woodworking place where my friend Beth took me. You picked a wood think and painted a stencil on it. I did Tom and my intials and still love it.

Spent night in hotel alone – I don’t have to travel for work and the one time I did go to a American Council of Teachers of Foreign Language conference in Dallas, I took Tom. It was allowed! So, I have not done this yet!

Go to a movie alone – This has been on my list to do in the summer, but I just haven’t done it yet.

Eat in a nice restaurant alone – I think I have eaten in Panera and places like that alone, but I want to go to a nicer restaurant alone sometime. My friend loves doing this.

Cooked a whole chicken or a whole turkey – Can you believe I haven’t done this? I will admit that I am scared. I don’t want to know what animal my meat used to be.

What would you say that you have never done? What should I do from my list?

I hope you enjoyed this! I know it was random, but these were the things that came to mind!

    1. Thank you! I have the place picked out – well, I have two. One is the French restaurant. I don’t think I would feel weird. The other is a bougie place called Mesh. I think I would sit in the bar.

  1. Several of these I a right there with you but one piece of advice? Stay in a hotel by yourself…just one night…it is liberating and luxurious! I had to after a work event and it was some of the best sleep I ever had 🙂

  2. I have never done any of those either except sleep in a hotel alone which has only been once or twice. I’ve had no desire to do the painting and wine thing. I don’t want my ugly art hanging in my house 🤣

  3. Since we just had this holiday, I have never carved a pumpkin. I have never worked on a large puzzle and I have never been fishing.

  4. I haven’t had a gel pedicure and never got fired from a job, I think that’s because I have the same work ethic that you do! I like getting a paycheck and the feeling that I earned it. Then rest I have done, partly because I traveled for work and am comfortable by myself. One thing I haven’t done is a spray tan, so I need to give it a try!

    1. Same! I think you should try the spray tan! I just had a free one for my birthday and did it on Tuesday. I was so intimidated to try it, but I really like doing it now. I am watiing to see if they offer a good deal on a winter package.

  5. You should do everything. (Except get fired) I think I’ve done everything (except get fired) i get a gel pedi every 3 weeks and i love it. I also started getting facials this summer on a regular basis. And i get massages every 4-6 weeks. I love them both !! Our country club has started doing a paint night every other month and the members love it. I’ve done them several times and i think i have one painting left (a snowman) that i being out in January !!!

    1. I am open and want to do everything except the painting. I just hate the gel removal process so much! Right now I just don’t have a lot of extra money in the budget so I have to prioritize. My hair is my priority as far as beauty treatments right now.

  6. What a great post idea. I have stayed in a hotel, eaten in a restaurant and gone to movie by myself. But I haven’t gotten a gel pedicure. It sounds like a long process to spend on my toes! Unfortunately, I did get “let go” from a college job, but I think it was more because they didn’t need me anymore than something I did. It was devastating!

  7. This is a fun post! I just had my first facial in March, and it was really nice. I feel like I should have that done at least once a year. I have stayed in a hotel by myself many times and just did last month for 3 nights, just to have some time away. It is a little odd, but not too bad. I have also cooked a turkey, but it has been a long time. I haven’t done any of the other things though.

    1. Oh good for you! I really want to get one. I don’t have a really great desire to stay in a hotel alone because I like my own bed. I also feel like I get alone time quite a bit. I am not starved for peace and quiet.

  8. I get a facial every month, but that may be changing as the owner just upped the monthly club price by $75…you read that right up by and not to $75! There’s an Aveda school close to me that offers two facials a month for $35 if you join the club. It’s probably not the same level of competence, but I just do it for the relaxation anyway. I have also done the painting thing, but I don’t think there was any wine there. The problem with it is you end up with something not so great and don’t know what to do with them afterward. Mine are in the attic scaring away the mice! I have done the gel pedicure, but don’t like them because you can’t take them off yourself. They do last much longer, but your toenails get way too long (IMHO). I have also cooked a whole turkey but I didn’t like it at all. We now order a smoked turkey from City BBQ. And, yes, I was RIFd from my first teaching job. That was tough because, in my head, I knew I’d done nothing wrong. But, in my heart, I thought there must have been something more I could have done. It was a good thing in the end because I then moved to a different school system and met so many amazing teachers and friends.

I haven’t done the single things, either.

    1. So that’s why you have beautiful skin! I really want to get one. Painting without wine would really suck! Ha! That’s funny that your work is in the attic scaring the mice! Great idea for the turkey! My sister in law is in charge but I should tell her we are fine with that option.

  9. What a fun, post idea! I enjoyed reading yours and all the comments. I can’t really think of anything interesting that I have never done… A luxury for me is staying home alone, I think it’s happened 5 to 8 times in my life, and those are the best! I actually would prefer that over, staying in a hotel by myself… I guess that is something I have never done – live by myself.

  10. This is such a fun post! Ohhhh I love a facial. While my monthly treatments aren’t always facials, I look forward to those appointments. The drinking wine comment is so good. Lol
I’ve never had a gel pedicure either. I’ve always felt the same way- my pedicures last…but I only get them in the warmer months when I’m mostly wearing sandals I guess. Loved this post!

  11. I had a gel pedicure over the summer. Lasted for two months! Seriously the best and worth the extra 10$. You do have to have it professionally removed in my cases though.

    1. Your toe nails must have not grown very quickly? I think mine grow pretty fast. Yes, I would not want to try to remove it myself. I might do it – many of the things on my list I do want to do!
