Well, did you catch that I posted a day early for Fashion Files? Oops! I went to hit “schedule” and I posted publish” instead and then it was out of my hands! If you missed it, go back here if you are interested!

Did you catch my Currently? October Spending Diary? Hello Monday?

I am happy to link up with Andrea and Erika for Friday Favorites today!

How was your week? I hope you also had a lot of favorites!

Sunday was the first time we have gotten to hear Jack sing this school year. It was in the beautiful church you have seen here on the blog before.

After that, Tom and I tried out a new taco place called Bakersfield. It’s a chain. It was meh. We just have so many tacos places here now. The guacamole had too much lime in it (mine is way better!) and it was fine, but not a place I’m excited to go back to.

I did really like the smoky old fashioned I got, though. It’s old fashioned season!

The esquites/elote off the cob was cold and tasted of an old campfire.

Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? But, it WAS a favorite to go out with Tom as we had not gone out all weekend or week, for that matter!

Ernie is always a favorite and walking in the leaves is even better!

The teachers in my department at school (6 Spanish, 1 French, and 1 Japanese) did a fun costume and we better have won!

On Halloween, The Flash gave me the side eye while we were doing our round table discussion. Some kids wore costumes to school. They all look really depressed, but we were having a conversation about favorite Halloween candy (and they could bring it in), favorite costumes, traditions, and what they did this year, so I don’t think they were.

My favorite costume ever was Barney (Mason) and Fred (Jack) that Tom made out of felt:

What I wouldn’t give to squeeze those chubby legs and kiss those chubby cheeks again. They look super serious here, but they were funny and happy babies.

I made mummy dogs for Tom and I and they were delish. Jack went to a costume party so it was just Tom and I. We only had about 8 knocks on the door from trick or treaters this year.

I stopped and treated myself to a classic Egg McMuffin Wednesday and it was yummy. McDonald’s is across the street from my school. Wait – does McDonald’s purposely set up shop across the street from all high schools in the US? My hometown high school also had a McD’s across the street!

My car is not new and and not fancy, but I love the heated steering wheel! I needed it this week!

Thank goodness for this little market right by my house. I picked up dinner there one night this week. They have fruits and veggies, but also prepared meals, dips, gifts, and so much more.

And, it arrived! Here she is! Adios to my four coolers that I have been tripping over in the mudroom!

And, thank you for the birthday wishes yesterday! You made my day!

Are you ready for this?

I thought we weren’t going to do this anymore? I guess we are! I hate it getting dark earlier!

I hope you had many, many favorites this week and thanks for visiting me!

Amy

  1. Your costumes were so brilliant. I love egg McMuffins but miss the egg white delight ones because they had white cheddar and it was so good! It was 25 degrees on Halloween, we only had 2 knocks bless their hearts. Brrrrr. Have a great weekend.

  2. Yay for your new fridge! And wow, a heated steering wheel – I bet that feels great in the cold. I love my heated seats when it gets chilly, they warm me right up. I think Mason and Jack made the cutest Flinstones – how perfect, best buddies!!
    Have a wonderful weekend Amy!

  3. I’m so glad you had such a great birthday! I know you are over the moon excited about the new refrigerator. I would be too! I love that church that Jack sang in…I have a thing for beautiful old churches. Happy Friday to you! I hope you enjoy the weekend, my friend.

    1. I am! Thank you! He has gotten to sing in several beautiful churches because of the connections of his choir teachers and the churches around town. If he were far away at college, we wouldn’t get to see as many!

  4. Hope you had a great birthday! Loved all the pics! I am trying to get use to leaving the house when it’s still dark – the sun barely peaks out when I leave now, not looking forward to leaving in full darkness and returning in full darkness, but it is what it is. Happy Friday!

  5. I did see that; I’m surprised there is not way to “un-publish” a post. Every year I hear that this is the last year we’re changing the clocks… and then we still do! The new fridge is lovely looking and I bet it feels so great to get rid of those coolers.

  6. I hope you had a good birthday! Your Fred and Barnie are adorable! I had a Spider-Man for many years, as one of my sons is three years older than the other, so hand-me-down. It was ragged by the time they were done with it. Your dept. costumes were very clever! Your new fridge is gorgeous. My husband loves to shop, cook, and organize the pantry and fridge. I can’t even hide anything in the fridge, such as chocolate, because he’ll find it, lol.

  8. I bet the acoustics in that church are amazing. Yay for the new refrigerator! I love how you have so many different places within walking distance of you. (Brownsburg is just a scattered out mess!) Barney and Fred sure were cute!

We are going to be in Louisville Tuesday and Lexington on Wednesday and Thursday! I’ll wave as we go by! And, I haven’t seen any McDonald’s near a high school, but you can bet I’ll be looking now!

    1. Very nice! I am so happy to have a fridge! Oh, I missed it. How did you like Louisville? What did you come for if it isn’t personal. I lived in Lexington for 4 years, too.

      1. We actually were only passing through. We wanted to go to Brian’s Botanicals to look at elephant ears for next year. Unfortunately, they were already prepping for winter, and that stock was at their other larger greenhouse. My husband’s oldest brother lives in Versailles so we dropped in to visit with them before doing some of the touristy things in Lexington, including the Mary Todd Lincoln home and Lexington cemetery. I didn’t take a single photo for the blog even though that cemetery is beautiful.

  9. Oh wow! That church is beautiful.
That’s a shame the taco place wasn’t great.
I am loving all of the leaves on the ground and those mummy dogs look so good.
    Happy belated birthday.

  10. Hope you had a GREAT birthday!! Funny how the older we get the more excited we get over appliances and gadgets – my new car has a heated steering wheel and I can’t wait to try it out :). I was surprised by Day Light Savings time ending this year too. . .I thought we were DONE with that – ugh. Glad we don’t have little ones at home anymore — it really does take about a week to re-regulate! Hope you had a great weekend – it was sunshiney here so got the doggie out and played lots of pickleball!!

    1. Thank you! I feel like I appreciate the little things more and it takes less to make me happy. I was surprised by DST, too. It really does! My friend is obsessed with pickleball and I need her to teach me.
