Oh no! It’s a Friday the 13th! High school teachers get really worried about these kinds of superstitions! Have you seen kids when there is a full moon? Tread lightly today!

I am happy to link up with Erika and Andrea for everyones’ favorite post of the week.

Gosh, it’s been quiet in the blog world this week – maybe some are on fall break and there are only so many Prime Day posts I can read. I need some new blogs! I want to read about fashion, recipes, lifestyle tips, and product recommendations. Anyone?

So, I finish up my Hello Monday post on Sunday mornings usually because I just know that I am not great about working on my blog at night. If I do a Sunday activity, I usually don’t tell you about it until Friday because it’s always a favorite to cap off my weekend with a bit of fun.

This past Sunday, Tom and I went to the only urban winery in Kentucky and listened to their “Sunday Sippin” series from 1-4. It was lovely! They had the big window open, and I really liked the voice of the singer.

Then, Tom had brought something with him. He has a group of old gym friends. Like, they are retired men. They have given him so many gifts. One is a retired preacher and he gave Tom a wooden cross, one is a doctor with a daughter in Vermont and he has given Tom Vermont cheddar cheese. Tom has fixed one of their cars. Tom has given them construction advice and contractor names.

Anyway, someone brought him spaghetti seasoning and a gelato cone from Italy.

We stopped at the gelato place after the winery and Tom said to the poor teenage girl working, “Fill me up” while holding out his cone.

I stepped in and explained that Tom had a cone from Italy. She responded that she isn’t allowed to “fill someone up” but that Tom could get a cup of gelato and DIY his cone.

Tom conceded to filling his own cone. He’s so weird. We are just two weird people who found each other in a weird world, I guess.

I didn’t partake since I had wine. We were home by 4:00 and still had plenty of time to relax and get stuff ready for the week.

How does one leave a sweet baby like this to go to work? This cool weather has made Ernie so peppy! He deserved this little nap after his morning walk!

I got a sweet rainbow pic over campus from Mason this week! I love when he sends me photos!

This mama is worried, though. His debit card situation still has not be rectified and when it is, he will only have his card on his phone in the Apple Wallet and we will have his tangible card. He only has one other credit card and is running out of cash. I’m just so mad that this happened. Apparently, our bank is seeing this with multiple customers. The charges were all for Fan Duel which is an online gambling site. Ugh! I know it’s 2023 and there are multiple ways to pay for things, but I just worry that he will be in a place where only certain payments are accepted. Advice is welcome!

Tom and I found these at Aldi and they are Jack’s fave kind of fry!

We also tried and liked Thin Wheat instead of Wheat Thin from Aldi.

It seems the ingredients are better. Did you know that regular Wheat Thins have BHT to preserve freshness and these don’t appear to. Apparently BHT is not good.

My fave meal of the week was this burger bowl. This was dinner one night and lunch one day for Erica and I.

I am just loving my fall scent. I use the body wash and lotion and it leaves a nice fragrance.

I am also loving my minimal fall decor in my living room. The front porch has some jack o lantern lanterns that I have had for years, the back has my pumpkins and mums because I should enjoy looking at them, right? I just can’t believe we are already halfway through October!

I’m so glad I bought this dough bowl at a flea market last year. I like my pumpkins in it!

I have a few other knickknacks around and I will add my Thanksgiving specific stuff after Halloween.

I was also happy this week to use my TJ Maxx fall cups from last year that I saved. I took a pumpkin spice coffee to work.

I broke out my acorn spice lip color, too!

Give me all the fall colors of burnt sienna, mustard, olive, camel, and orange! After Thanksgiving I will be sick of these colors, but I love them right now!

School was good this week. My Spanish Ones did Spanish speaking country presentations, my Spanish threes did Hispanic artist presentations, and my AP Spanish did famous Hispanic American presentations. The students have to take notes while their classmates present and then we have an open note test. The students are clamoring for a food day soon!

What were your favorites this week?

Thanks for reading and commenting on my posts this week! I did Hello Monday, news about our trip, quotes, and Fashion Files if you missed anything. Simply click on the red font to go back and read those.

Anyone feel like my apple cider sangria this weekend? I know I do! It’s going to be pretty cool here, I think!

Happy, happy Friday, dear readers!

Amy

  2. My 14 tells me all the time I am weird. I am glad you and are weird. I must say at 6:00 am and only part of my morning cup in me I was laughing at Tom “Fill me up” Tom’s serious face also cracks me up. Do your son’s have a sense of humor?

  3. Oh yes, I would for sure love an apple cider sangria! Looks like you had a great week, I love live music while sipping wine. We have Sunday sessions at a pub not far from where we live. They have nice relaxing Sunday afternoon music. But we haven’t been in a while and reading your post has inspired me to go back soon. I hope Mason gets his debit card situation sorted soon as it is a worry. I went back to read your post about what happened. Going back to work has made me fall behind on blog reading! I hope to catch up over the weekend.

    1. Yes! Live music is the best. You need to go tomorrow! Things are better now. We wired money and then sent his card in certified mail. Yes – I know how that is!

  4. If we were at home this week I’d be whipping up some of your apple cider sangria! It is my favorite drink. Funny, my friend was just mentioning it to me the other day! You are famous around here, Amy!
The gelato cone story is funny!! That is actually impressive that the cone made it home from Italy, must have been packed well.
We don’t use debit cards because they seem to get compromised easily but not settled easily. Our younger son wanted to keep his but after getting hacked multiple times he finally agreed to get a credit card. He just pays it off every month like we do with ours.
I’m sure Mason will be fine and you will be there before you know it!!
Hope you have a great weekend, Amy!!

    1. But the weather in Philly will be even better for it! Ha! Enjoy your trip! I know it has a purpose, but it will still be fun.
I’m famous everywhere, girl! Just kidding!
I agree about the cone – the friend must have been so careful!
That is what we are learning, but I had no idea – trying to be financially smart!
      Thank you!

  5. I love that lipstick! I bought a new lipliner that I love, that’s a nice fall color. I’m working on a fall makeup and skin routine next week on my blog, so stay tuned! Your mantel looks so good! I like seeing your fall decorations. The campus in England is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing that, I love seeing pictures like that of other countries. I’m so sorry to hear his credit card issue hasn’t yet been resolved. It’s too bad there’s not a way for you to transfer money to his other card. Maybe if he goes somewhere that won’t accept what he has to pay with, someone could pay for him and you could just give them back the money when you get there? That may be a lot to ask. I hope you enjoy your weekend!

    1. Thank you! It’s old! I am going to need new lipliner soon. Oh, I cannot wait for that post! Isn’t the building so pretty? Mason seems to be staying mostly on campus and enjoying it. Things are better – I used Western Union to send him cash – really easy and only a $5 charge. Tom sent his new debit card by certified mail. I was just really overwhelmed and couldn’t wrap my head around what to do. I don’t know if he knows anyone that well, sadly.
      You too!

  6. I mean, aren’t we all weird in our own ways ??? I know Tony and I certainly are! and I am ok with it! I was born on a Friday the 13th, as was my mom! Little fun fact for your Friday. !3 is my lucky number and its my moms too. Our weather is cooling off here in Cali although we are supposed to shoot back up to the low 90’s ……whyyyyyyy! I am OVER IT. Tonight I am going to the Taylor Swift Movie to see all the hype. I dont think I will manage to stand the entire movie- Gosh I hope everyone doesn’t but apparently they do. Oh well. I will sit and not care because I am almost 60 and I dont give a S*** what anyone else thinks or does! That is a perk of turning 60! I make my own rules! haha! Happy Friday 13th! Woo Hoo!

    1. Yes, we are! I have seen so many Taylor Swift movie posts on social media. Isn’t it enough that everyone went to the concert and now they do the same at the movie? Ha! I guess I don’t get it!

  8. Well, might I suggest my blog for fashion…hahaha…but seriously, you’re invited to come and take a look around.

I’m so impressed that cone made it all the way from Italy and didn’t get crushed. I don’t think I’ve ever had gelato. I probably don’t need to find out as I’m seriously trying to lose some pounds before the holidays hit (well, and after, too).

We quit using debit cards years ago because they kept getting compromised. We now use one or two credit cards, rack up the points, and pay them off each month. I wish I knew of some other way for Mason to access cash. Doesn’t the campus have some kind of banking type place? Or, was that just a thing when I was in college? If they did, perhaps, you could put money into it, and he could then withdraw it and pay you later?

Have a wonderful weekend! It’s good to see Ernie is doing well, too!

  9. I love the gelato cone story…so funny! That is so frustrating about Mason’s debit card. When I was over there for 10 days, I never had to use cash. Michael said in 5 weeks, he only had to use it to pay at a small barber shop once. For peace of mind, you could possibly send him a credit card (one of yours that you may not use or request an additional card for him) via Fedex. My aunt sent us Fed Ex packages when we lived there. Even regular mail only takes about a week, although I wouldn’t chance a credit card in international mail. Another idea is that he could use his current credit card to get a prepaid mc/visa over there. They call it a travel money card. You load money and can then use it for contactless payment. It would just be another option if he misplaces his credit card. You could also wire him money via Western Union and he can collect cash in UK. Good way to get him some cash. Sorry so long!! Have a good weekend!

    1. Ha!
So, what I think is that London is way more cash free than the small town where he is. My friend has a son in London and they just got back and said the same. We wired him money through Western Union this week – so easy and instant! Then, we sent the new debit card via certified mail. I definitely feel better now. I thought of that too – take the one credit card and buy prepaid card. He said he wasn’t sure where to do that. I’m sure it’s not that hard! You know how kids can be!

I so look forward to your posts! A car trip through the UK is actually a dream of mine! Did I tell you I’m going to Mallorca next week!? Sangria and sun!
