It’s time for another installment of Currently with Jennifer and others. Today we are sharing what we are “currently”…

Loving

I love early fall! These are not their permanent home, but this is where I put my new purchases until I can decide on everything:

I love looking at my new pumpkins and mums. I got one pumpkin with a bunch of bumps on it and I love it!

I was laying on my covered patio and leaves were falling on and around me and I loved it!

Trader Joe’s does fall like no other and I picked up a vanilla pumpkin candle. It’s time for all things apple and pumpkin!

I treated myself to fall magazines. Boy, they sure are skimpy these days and mostly made up of ads, but I still enjoyed flipping through them while on my patio with leaves falling on me!

I am also loving my sugar skull pillows on both patios. My sister said it best – she said that I really do treat these spaces as extra rooms in my house. I am sad in the winter when I don’t have these two spots to retreat to. The only months where I can’t use them are really January and February in my part of the country.

Excited About

I’m excited whenever I get a message from Mason in England. We Facetimed Monday, too, and it was great to “see” him. I already see how he is growing by being totally on his own.

His room is stuffy and he ordered a fan from Amazon. When it arrived, he needed a Phillips head screwdriver to put it together. He is figuring out how to get that now. I suggested hitting up a maintenance man, but he didn’t like my idea. He told me he needs to figure things out on his own. Message received. Ha!

Watching

I was pleasantly surprised by how cute this movie was! This would be fine for your teen or tween girls, too, I think.

I’m also watching my Bravo shows and loving them! So much is on right now!

Seeing

I’m also seeing sweet texts from Jack. My kids didn’t get a phone until sophomore year of high school, by the way. We had a pay as you go phone at home when they were home alone but it wasn’t a smart phone and it didn’t leave the house.

Your kids are huge narcissists until they realize that their parents are people, too. It took awhile but now I get questions about my day.

Observing

I try to sit and do nothing for a bit each day – no phone, no book. I love observing how the sun hits the trees and just all the beautiful nature in my little suburban paradise. I love seeing the rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, and birds. We have a ton of them in our yard!

And, that’s my Currently! What about you? What are you loving, excited about, watching, seeing, and observing?

Did you see my September Spending Diary yesterday?

Come back tomorrow for Fashion Files!

  1. Such sweet texts from your sons, you have such a great relationship with them Amy! It felt a little cooler this morning and with the heat index it will only feel like 94 today – that is a HUGE win here in Orlando!!
I hope you have a great Wednesday, Amy!

    1. I get nervous anytime I post anything because I don’t want to eat my words. Are you like that? Gosh, I hope Orlando cools off soon and the humidity, right?
      I hope you do, too!

  2. Awww love your facetime with your sweet boy- so glad you can do that! I would get excited about those magazines too even though they are skimpy. I have a thing for Sugar Skulls too- just love them- that pillow is fantastic

  3. That text about the laundry is hilarious! I’m really at the point where I need to suck it up and bring in all our patio/deck furniture for the season but I really don’t want to.

  4. I remember writing out a notecard for my oldest when he went to college with washing instructions. We put it in a baggie so it wouldn’t get destroyed. He kept it until he got married several years later! I wonder if he still has it.

FaceTime is so good to keep seeing those faces, right? And, the text from your son is so sweet.

I’ve been watching some of my bushes do weird things…they’re still green, but the leaves are all drying up and dying. It’s almost like someone sprayed them, or they got frosted. Neither of those has happened. I’m listening to my Jack (my Westie) breathing deeply so I know he’s sound asleep. I finally put out fall candles so that’s what I’m smelling!

Have a wonderful rest of the week! Friday is in sight!

    1. That’s so cute!
      Thank goodness for technology!
My hydrangea bush still hasn’t bloomed but it’s so green and lush. The plants are so confused.
Oh, sweet Jack the dog! Love that.

  5. England has really been in a heat wave for this time of year, so I hope things will cool down for him soon. We are about to start using our outdoor “living room” all the time!

    1. He said it’s more that the air is stuffy than it is really hot. He is really far north so I think it’s cooler than London. Thank you! I bet you are so ready for Texas fall and winter!

  6. Your kids are so nice! I love those messages. Youngest one has finally started calling us, but she doesn’t get her phone until very late in the evening. They are drilling them hard!
    What’s a sugar skull!?
I’ve always loved magazines, but I agree; they are getting thinner and thinner!

  7. I love TJ candles too. I just picked up a three pack of new scents – they are the smaller tin candles.
I love seeing the texts from your boys. Ugh…we’re in a tough phase right now. You are giving me hope.

    1. I love vanilla pumpkin! I’m trying to use the candles I have but they tempt me so much.
Oh, thank you. We had many tough years and still have tough times so I don’t want to sugarcoat it. Stay strong and consistent and you will make it. I remember thinking there needed to be self esteem for parents classes because of those tough times.
