And, just like that it is October! I am happy to link up today with Sarah and Holly for Hello Monday and with Tanya for Prime Purchases!

Did you see my Share 4 Somethings on Saturday? If not, click here for four random things I shared!

This is one of the things I shared, but I had a delightful happy hour Friday after school at a new Italian seafood place near school. They have half priced wines from 3-6, $5 wells drinks, and a reasonable appetizer menu. The patio is lovely!

Erica and I had a lemondrop martini and a glass of wine.

I made leftover sheet pan lasagna and angel hair alfredo with mushrooms for the fam when I got home.

I prioritized my sleep and getting better this weekend and went to bed at 9:00 both nights! Do you ever do that? I think it helps so much. I also made myself “sleep in” until 6:00 or 6:30 each morning and then still enjoyed my dark patio – ahhhhh!

Around 9:30, I got myself together after showering to run my errands. I went to Trader Joe’s, the library, and Kroger. I was open to all the new products and fall favorites at Trader Joe’s, but I didn’t go crazy!

These are my frozen goodies. Jack loves the mini croissants, I love the baguette breadsticks and the shredded hashbrowns. I am going to try to make little muffin cups with them. I heard I needed to get the double chocolate croissants! I got the pumpkin cheesecakes croissants on an impulse and the fried cheese curds on an impulse. I put the cheese curds in the airfryer and they are to die for!

These will just be fun weekend foods, I guess!

At Kroger, I picked out some pumpkins and mums.

I spent most of the rest of the day reading and resting. It was much needed.

Around 5:00, Tom and I went to a new Venezuelan restaurant that has been really popular. We tried once before!

I was shocked when my drink arrived in a fish!

I had an arepa and yucca fries and I didn’t love the cheese or the flavor really.

Tom got a corn pancake with pork and I thought it was too sweet.

Anyway, we are glad we tried it and surprisingly, Tom liked it more than I did. We both agreed it was overpriced.

We stopped at Kroger on the way home because Tom wanted to buy a lottery ticket and Lysol. Ok…..

I watched a cute movie when we got home:

Love at First Sight on Netflix

Have you seen it?

I need some not too cheesy fall movie recs!

I got up and read this cute book on the patio. Of course they are predictable, but they are one step up from a Hallmark movie in book form – they are well written and funny.

I made a veggie scramble breakfast later in the morning…

And, then I set about to do cleaning, organizing and some chores.

Recent Amazon purchases:

Since I couldn’t find these two Sarah Adams books at my library, I decided to treat myself because Mason was leaving. I don’t let myself buy many books because it saves money and keeps the clutter at bay. This is why I love my library so much. Also, I read actual books and don’t read on a Kindle.

I ordered adapters, a portable charger, and a desk mirror for Mason, but that’s all I have used Amazon for this month!

What was the highlight or your weekend?

Have you been shopping Amazon much?

Amy

  1. It’s so disappointing when a restaurant doesn’t turn out, right? Time AND money spent, but supporting small business is a plus. . .you tried! My husband can’t eat much (no corn, wheat or soy) so our adventures are extremely limited. It’s been like that for a very long time so I’m used to it and enjoy hearing about other people’s food adventures 🙂
I went to TJ’s this weekend too – it is SO HARD to limit my cart. There are lots of times I wish I was still shopping for 6!!! Everything you bought looks delicious – their apples have been $.69/lb so it’s worth the stop just to get those. Have a good week!

    1. Yes! But, at least now I know. They always have a good apple selection and Jack loves green apples so I try to always have those for him. He is really picky. I can’t imagine a Trader Joe’s bill for 6 people! I am going to a different Aldi today because it’s near another place I’m going. I saved most of my purchases for today.

  2. I love the TJ’s baguettes too. Love at first sight was so very sweet. Yum it’s been forever since I’ve had a lemon drop martini. Have a great start to your week!

    1. They are great! Wasn’t it? I love a lemondrop and it was so hot that day.
Loving your twin girl content and it takes me back to my 6 weeks in the NICU with my babies. Skin to skin contact, pumping for them in a closet, them getting to start feeds, getting to start wearing real clothes. So much good stuff. It sounds like they are in your town, too, so that makes it much easier I hope for you to visit and help them.

  3. That restaurant looks and sounds different for sure. I love light reads too- nice escape from reality! I am also a sucker for romance so will definitely check that movie out!

  4. Aldi has a crazily cheap sauvignon blanc with screw cork!
Can’t wait to hear what you think of Fourth wing! I read a lot of fantasy and I know you don’t…!
I bought a plastic cover for my laptop on amazon, it looks like a new computer!

    1. Our Aldi can’t sell wine! We have a stupid law in Kentucky that wine needs to be sold from a different storefront and I guess Aldi can’t afford that. I’m jealous – quickly becoming a sauv blanc gal!
OH – great idea! Love that! Love making something old new again!

  6. I bought the TJ baguettes and some pumpkin scones this weekend. I must have missed the pumpkin cheesecake croissants. TJ certainly was overflowing with all things pumpkin! Hallmark has some cute offerings in their Fall in Love line-up.

    1. I am excited to try them! I’m the only pumpkin lover in my house, though! Yes, good reminder to look at those Hallmark movies – if they aren’t too cheesy. I can’t handle the super cheesy ones.

  7. I’ve just purchased practical stuff from Amazon lately (floor cleaner, lotion) nothing fun. I do have a cart full though! (over $1,300) so I’m ready if some great deal comes along : )
No weekend highlights really. Just groceries so that I feel prepared for meals this week, clean house and laundry. I did ride my bike 10 miles to try and jumpstart being more active each day (and off-set all the eating I seem to be doing) : /

    1. I hear that! I agree – I have lots saved in my cart for the October Prime Days – if my stuff goes down in price.
Great to get set for the week ahead and great on biking! That’s impressive!

  8. I usually only buy books I can’t find through our library too and try not to do that too often. I haven’t even been making it up until 9/9:30 this past week; falling asleep somewhere around 8:30 and sleeping right until the alarm is going off at 5. I am loving it! I have no idea why or how that started happening but I definitely do not feel so tired during the day.

  9. I’m trying to think of the highlight of my weekend, but then I remembered most of it was spent feeling lousy as I got my Covid shot. So, feeling better Sunday afternoon would probably be the highlight.

Your restaurant visits always make me wish I lived in a town like yours…walkable with lots of good restaurants and shops. There’s one close to us, but the houses are not affordable for me!

I hope you have a wonderful week!

    1. You must really be a night owl! I see your comments the next morning and it makes me chuckle. I am so sorry you felt puny. Feeling better is definitely a plus.
I almost wish I didn’t have such appealing restaurants because it is too tempting!
      I hope you do, too!

      1. Hahaha! You wouldn’t believe how many people say that to me. Yes, I’m definitely a night owl. It was hard when I was teaching and had to get up so early. Now, I can stay up as late and sleep in.

  10. That drink in the fish is too cute, I have never seen anything like it before! I love that you started your weekend with a HH. I have been trying to get to bed sooner and drink less because my sleep has been so messed up. Gosh I hate adulting.

    1. It was kind of hard to drink from! Thank you! I feel the same. I have gone to bed at 9 for 3 nights in a row and it made a big difference. I stayed up til 10 last night and here we go. I didn’t sleep as well! Me too!
