It’s Friday and that means it’s time to link up here for Friday Favorites!

What a week! I started having allergy symptoms on Saturday night, felt ok on Sunday, didn’t sleep well Sunday night, and then Monday through the rest of the week just felt a little crappy as I went through the motions of my normal week.

These eye patches feel really good when you have sinus pain and I need to buy more. Are you a patch person?

I also will tell anyone and everyone about my love of the neti pot and I swear it cuts my congestion time in half. This is not scientific, but I will stand firm in my belief.

I have enjoyed reading after school every day and have been reading a more serious book than my usual fun chick lit. I finished it Wednesday evening and I loved it! Now, I think I will read another Sarah Adams or a Colleen Hoover.

Sweet boy! I love seeing him curled up in the big chair! Of course, he’s allowed here!

I love seeing his tooth hanging out when he lays like this on his bed.

You know I have been on a white wine journey this summer? Did you know there is white Bordeaux? It’s good! I know I need to switch to red soon, but I’m still loving a crisp chilled white with a screw top! Seriously! I have been picking based on this lately because I don’t drink much at a time. I know some of you gals have no need for a way to save your wine – ha!

Right now I am picking Sauvignon Blanc the most. I also have found a pinot gris I like. Pinot grigio seems too sweet for me right now?

And, I have been using these tiny jam jars. Love!

So, I guess I am an Aldi shopper now. I tried Maple Pecan Pie and it’s also delicious, but Pumpkin Spice remains my favorite. I bought two boxes last Saturday.

And, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but these are even better than the Costco pre-cooked strips. They also come in Southwestern which would be great for a burrito bowl.

I am thinking about doing an Aldi Favorites post.

I made breakfast for dinner Wednesday night and had a mimosa with my food. We had potatoes, eggs, bacon, and a biscuit.

I am so glad I purchased this inexpensive but nice quality zip up hoodie. I put it on every morning. I had a full photo of me but my face and my neck looked bad, so enjoy this image of the material! But, there is also a photo of me wearing it in my eye patch photo. I chose heather grey because it’s a classic, I guess!

One benefit to my later work start time is that I can go to Kroger before school more easily if I need to. I had an emergency – I had no tampons situation this week. So, yeah, add that to being sick! Fun!

I don’t know why this made me laugh so hard this week. It might also have something to do with Tom putting mayonnaise on my “grocery list” last week.

How much you want to bet that she has a “Bump It” in her hair?

So, what were your favorites this week?

I hope you had many!

If you missed any posts this week, I talked about my weekend here, my jeans collection here, What’ s Up Wednesday here, and finally Fashion Files here.

As always, thank you so much for being here. I’m struggling a bit to respond to comments, but I will get there. I appreciate you taking the time to leave them for me and they make my day!

Happy Weekend,

Amy

  1. Sorry to hear you’ve been battling allergies. Sinus pain is the worst! I sometimes get sinus infections and even my teeth hurt! When I get like that then I know that I need antibiotics asap! I hope you have a relaxing weekend and cheers, that wine looks good!

    1. Thank you! I know! Those little patches really feel good. So many people go to the dentist when that happens and the dentist says that it’s their sinuses! Thank you! I hope you enjoy yours as well!

  2. I’ve never been a patch person, but I’ve used a compress type mask before when I didn’t feel well. It helped! It had a eucalyptus scent to it…it might have been for headaches. I like your hoodie! I used to have a robe that was just like one of those jackets, and I literally wore it out. I got it as a Christmas gift one year from my mom, and it was the comfiest, coziest zip up robe with a hood that felt like a giant sweatshirt. I’ve tried to replace it, but I can’t find it anywhere online. I think it was from Land’s End. I hope you’re feeling better by now! I’ve used something similar to a netti pot, and I agree with your assessment. It helped me tremendously! I hope you enjoy your weekend, my friend!

    1. That sounds good, too. I have used patches in the last year to help with my under eye bags before I have a special event. I made a container last for over a year. Thank you! This hoodie has been so easy to throw on – more so than a sweatshirt. I hate when I love something but it wears out and then I can’t find a replacement. Thank you! You too!

  3. I really enjoyed the Paris Daughter too; even if I was able to predict a lot of what was going to happen. Hope you’re feeling 100% soon.

  4. Our new Aldi’s should be open soon and i am
Here for it. I continue to shop at one over at the coast but it will be nice to have one close by. Team play this week (we got a butt whooping!) but i was able to go to Trader Joe’s and lululemon (can u believe i don’t shop at athleta anymore!) so i didn’t care about golf that much! Happy Friday!!

    1. Wonderful! You will have to be patient and find your favorites. I plan to do a post soon. I guess you already have some favorites, though! You were obsessed with Athleta! I plan to do a Trader Joe’s run soon!

  5. I have eye patches but forget to use them. Are those specific to sinus use? For sinus pain, I use a warming eye mask called Starry Eyes. I’ve tried cheaper ones from amazon but the ear loops are harsh and they don’t fit well. I usually lay down with one for 30 minutes and take a sinus pain relief pill, but I’ll bet the nettipot would help too. You’ve had a crazy September, with visitors, new school schedule and Mason leaving for England. I hope you take a me day and decompress a bit! Have a great weekend!

    1. I do too! No, these are just the normal ones, but they feel great when you have some pain there. OH, that sounds great!
I know it could have been much, much worse and that I am very blessed, but I also feel I have had a bit of a rough start to the school year. I am not afraid to be selfish and do that and thank you for the acknowledgement! Ha! You too!

    1. I’ve never been to a Lidl, but Aldi has some great things. I can’t go there for everything and I think I still need to do produce elsewhere when I just need to buy one of something. We have a great little fruit and vegetable place by our house, though!

  6. Oh, the allergies are real and seem worse this year. I wonder if the Canadian wildfires had something to do with it…you know, stirring up some ash along with the harvesting? I just know my eyes, nose, and throat are tired of it!

I have to go to Aldi’s to try that chicken. And, I might just as well do a full grocery shop! Thanks for the heads up!

Hope you feel better this weekend. Just got my Covid shot so I figure this is the best I’ll feel until about Tuesday!

    1. Maybe? I usually have issues with allergies in September, though.
I have found some great things at Aldi and plan to do a post!
Thank you! Oh, I hope you have mild side effects if any!

  7. I use the same gold eye patches! I love them.

I’ve been going to bed super early, like 8-8:30 and it’s the only thing that’s kept me functioning lately :/

I tried a netipot many times when I was constantly sick and pregnant with Sutton. It never did a thing for me so I don’t believe the hype lol. I will take my afrin and saline spray any day of the week 🙂

    1. I think I like the Pixi better from Target – or Amazon. They seem to stay on better, are more moist, and cooler feeling, too. I was proud of myself for figuring it out for sinus pain though – ha!
I will always and forever swear by my neti. I use warmed up distilled water and do it in my shower after my sinuses have opened up a bit and it is amazing. I also do saline spray everyday. My student told me when you are sick you are supposed to use two packs of the salt and when you are doing it on a normal day you just use one.
