Oh my gosh – this week was so much better than last week! I am happy to link up with Andrea and Erika for Friday Faves!

First of all, let’s talk about the weather – even though I am trapped inside from 7 something until about 4, I have been getting outside in the morning with my coffee and a candle. This is where I do my morning devotional, blog reading, and blog writing.

For some reason, this really sets a positive tone for my day!

Also, let’s talk about what else I have finally managed to do – I made it to the gym twice this week at 5:30 a.m. I was so sore from my fall 3 weeks ago (slipped on water in the kitchen), that this is the first week I have felt ok to start back at the gym. I pulled my hamstring, hurt both knees, and hurt one arm and shoulder. I can still feel that one arm is weaker, and my hamstring still hurts a little.

I found my favorite handsoap at Target last weekend!

Then, I found the matching candle at my Kroger:

My Kroger now has this display up – it was in a kind of odd place, so you might have to hunt for it if you are interested.

I finished this and loved it. I did like Nora Goes Off Script better, but still really loved this story. I am in a good reading stride right now!

I started this – I just really love this author for a fun rom com type book!

Mason has been asking to watch Gilmore Girls with me and I love that someone listed the best fall vibe episodes!

My favorite dinner this week was this:

I just used the Amylu Chicken Gouda Apple sausages I had from Costco and I added red potatoes. It had a very German/Oktoberfest/Fall vibe!

I made a mid-week secondhand shopping trip with Mason and found this H & M crinkly skirt new with tags:

I know it’s not the most flattering, but I was super comfy and I think it will work with some other things in my closet, too, when I have time to experiment!

Also, I am waiting on these to arrive:

I will let you know if they become a favorite or not!

And, finally, my Dad’s birthday was Monday (he passed away in 2018) and my Mom’s birthday was Wednesday. They were the same age with birthdays that close together! I love this photo of them. Do you think I look like either of them?

What were your favorites this week? I hope you had many! Can you believe it is already mid-September? I like to dedicate September to all things apple! I need to get on that. My weekend is all about Mason – we will be washing clothes, packing as efficiently as possible, and taking him to the airport. I am so excited for his adventure, but as expected I am nervous, too. I think I am just ready for him to get there and get settled!

  1. I’m so glad you had a much better week this week. I wish our shops over here sold Mrs Meyer’s products. I’m tempted to order on Amazon because I always hear that they smell great. Happy Heavenly birthdays to your parents. It’s actually my mum’s birthday today and if she were alive she would have been 95. She passed away in March last year. Those special days are hard aren’t they? Sending warm hugs and all the best as you help Mason prepare and pack for his big adventure xxx

    1. Thank you! I wish they did, too. If you can order one, just do the acorn spice. Not sure how expensive it would be for you. Thank you. My mom is still here, but my Dad passed.

  2. I love that photo of your mom and dad – I think you are a combo of them! Isn’t it so hard to think of our parents as being so young like that? They were mere babies!!! I’m sure my sons think that of me too, ha!!
Glad you got back to the gym, falls are scary now and can really sideline us for a long time.
I hope you have a great weekend getting Mason ready and I wish him (and all of you) the very best. Once he is settled and so excited about being there, you will feel so much better!!

  3. I’m so glad your week was better! That sausage sounds delicious. I love doing sausage and potato skillets. Acorn spice is my favorite scent from Mrs. M.. It’s so good and so Fall. Your mom and dad, how gorgeous! You are definitely a mix of those two cuties! Have a great weekend.

  4. My favorite is today because the weather is finally very fall-ish. I think you look like a combo of both your parents. I love looking at old photos, especially of my parents. I hope you are soon back to 100%. Falling is just awful and hurts for a while. Have a great weekend!

    1. Isn’t it the best! I love fall – early fall especially – so much. I agree! Thank you! I am close! I need to take advantage of this weather to start ramping up my walking!

  5. I’m so glad you had a better week and that you’re feeling more like yourself again. That is also my favorite Mrs. Meyer’s scent. I used it in the bookstore this week and several people asked me what it was. I have never seen one of the candles! I do like that skirt you found…I don’t think I am a skirt person. I’ve never really found one I like that much anyway, so I don’t feel like I’m missing out. I know you’re excited for/anxious about Mason! I get that you’re ready for him to be there and start getting settled. I hate things hanging over my head! I hope you’re able to enjoy the weekend, my friend. (I see so much of you in this picture of your dad!)

    1. Thank you! I sure did! And, I also took off Thursday for the last minute Mason stuff and we had a lovely day. I am remembering to take off more and that the world won’t stop spinning. It’s such a good scent! It’s so fall!
I agree – I hate things hanging over my head. I think I look like him, too.

  6. Eek! That is exciting and yet so nerve wracking I’m sure. Is he at all nervous about spending a semester abroad? I feel like I have been in a reading slump this week and just uninspired to pick up any of the books I have waiting for me in my basket.

  8. This weather is glorious! We are enjoying the cooler mornings and evenings here. I think you favor your father! What a sweet picture of them.
Oh, I hope the weekend goes well. I know that is going to bittersweet and a little sad. I say often life is full of different emotions on parallel tracks.

  9. I commend you for getting up early to go to the gym and then to teach after! I could never get up that early…well, not to exercise! I need to get my fall candles out and burning. Maybe that will get me in the mood to decorate for fall.

I think you look most like your dad. I hope your mom had a good birthday. And, I hope Mason’s departure is without any problems. Are you going to visit him at any point?

    1. Morning is the only time it will happen! I was on a good streak last year and the year before.
      Yes to fall candles!
I agree about looking more like my Dad!

  10. Hadley is loving Gilmore Girls right now. I need to join her in watching it…I’ve never see an episode. I love the pic of your parents. So sweet. I think you look like both! Good job on getting to the gym! I hope you have a restful weekend getting Mason packed.

  11. I just referred to work as “being trapped inside” this weekend. It’s tough after a whole summer to be outside. That is a great picture of your parents! You have been busy with guests and school, but way to go getting to the gym. Good luck getting Mason packed. It seems like a big job. I hope he has the best time!
