Happy Wednesday all! I am so behind on responding to comments and I apologize. I feel like I’ve run a marathon. Moritz, our 24 year old German, left yesterday afternoon to go on a few more adventures before returning to Germany. He is meeting a friend in California for a road trip. He is an absolute doll and easy to host. We feel like we know him really well because he stayed with us for 3 weeks when he was 17, we went to stay with them when he was 18, and then we have spent time with him this past week. His mom and dad left Monday. Now, we do still have two Germans at Tom’s parents’ house and we will see them once more this weekend.

In addition to all of the time with family, Ernie has felt good enough to jump up on the chaise part of the basement couch:
He has also jumped up on our bed at night! His eating is still a little weird, but now I’m wondering if the extreme heat just had an adverse effect on him?
Anyway, we are loving that our sweet Ernie seems to be more himself. We do not take this lightly at all!
Experiencing
Just time with our international family…
After the parents of Moritz left on Monday, we took the boat out again. Mason was able to come and it was a really nice day on the river!
I am looking forward to boaters putting their boats up now so we can have more of it to ourselves! We love fall boating and put our boat up as late as possible.

Eating
I definitely have not been snacking with school and company, but I also have not been eating great. I hope to have lots more of this…
I plan to make some good entree salads. I would like to throw some roasted vegetables in. I’m also excited to eat soup!
Using to Decorate
I planned to get my early fall decor items out on Monday, but just didn’t have time. Maybe this weekend?
I have a full week off for Fall Break this year and man am I going to need it., and I don’t think I will be bothered to be home for it and not travel, either. Mason leaves September 17 and fall break is September 29. Everything from now until September 17 will be focused on making sure he has what he needs.

I’m so glad that Ernie is feeling good again! Each day is a gift, right? It’s why we should make sure our dogs feel loved every single day of their lives! I was thinking you might not have had the time to decorate for fall with your company. It’s been a busy week or two for you! You should share a post about prepping Mason to leave for a few months. I’m interested to know what all that involves!

So glad Ernie is rallying once again! It can be so hard to eat healthy when you have family visiting because it’s like you are almost on vacation again too; I know when my aunt was here from North Carolina we ate out so much more because that’s what she wanted to do and I wasn’t about to say no.

I remember one of my favorite sounds was when my Max (one of our Westies) would give that last little sigh before he fell asleep on the bed. I miss that little guy.
Currently, I’m waiting for the temperatures to take a fall…pardon the pun. I’m so tired of hot weather. I have put off decorating for fall because that lasts until Christmas. The only thing that changes are the few ghosts I put out around Halloween.
I loved Fall Break. It was just such a nice way to break up the semester.
