I am linking up with Jennifer today for Currently!

Loving…

Honestly, I am just loving/savoring these quiet unhurried mornings I have left before I get on the school train. I am loving being at home and available to my kids when they want to talk, watch a show, ask me to make a food for them.

Looking forward to…

I am looking forward to our German visitors, but I am also worried that I will be too tired from school to enjoy having company. I hope that I am able to get into a good routine by then.

I am also looking forward to celebrating my twins’ birthday next month. How is it possible that they will turn 21?

Starting…

Meal Prep – I have enjoyed having the summer off from prepping so hard core, but I am ready to start back. I plan to make 12 Amy McMuffins this week to put in the freezer. I use English muffins, Canadian bacon, egg, and either a half slice of Velveeta or a slice of Sargento very thin cheese.

Erica and I are doing lunches together again and I will try to have the same thing for dinner and make extra for our lunches.

Thinking…

About school – I am trying to stay in summer mode, but those back-to-school emails have started rolling in!

Wearing…

I’m going to be wearing my lounge clothes a bit longer – my favorite hot pink and blue shorts from Aerie! Then, it will be time to get dressed again. My plan is to cycle through all my dresses, skirts, and palazzo pants without repeating. I plan to wear tennis shoes and comfy sandals like Birkenstocks because those hard cement floors are brutal on the old feet and legs and they take some getting used to.

What are you up to currently?

Amy

  1. I love those hot pink shorts (and that they match your book!). 21?! Gosh they grow up so fast don’t they? Enjoy those last few school free days.

  2. We will be bringing our younger son back up to UF to start grad school in a few weeks. That will take some getting used to – it’s been nice having him home for a year!
Enjoy the last few days and don’t worry, I know you will rally when your German visitors are there and you’ll be a great hostess!

  3. You’re smart to savor your days! I hope you soak up all the moments while you’re able. I also hope you’ll adjust quickly to the back-to-work routine. Those English muffins look delicious! One time my dad was telling me about what he’d had for breakfast one morning, and he couldn’t think of the words “English muffins”, and called it a British Biscuit! I want to call it only that now. I don’t blame you a bit for wearing only lounge clothes for the moment. I’d do the same thing! I hope you have a great day, friend. πŸ’œ

  4. Those unhurried mornings are the best! We get inundated with back-to-school emails a week before we start back hmph! And then at the beginning of the school year as soon as Christmas is over (we start back end of January). All the commercials are about back to school. I want to throw the remote at the TV! Anyway, I hope you enjoy every minute of the next few days before school starts back.

  5. I’m trying to hold onto summer a bit longer, but my first in-service day is Friday, aka, tomorrow! Eeek! I went to the new-to-school meet and greet Tuesday, even though the introvert in me did not want to go, lol. There is a new principal, as there was a scandal last week and the principal, a teacher, two APs, and a school district worker were all arrested. It made CNN, and if it’s true, I do not feel sorry for them. We’re all mandatory reporters of child abuse in Florida, and it’s an important responsibility. We have 4 days of in-service and then the kids come back next Thursday. I have a classroom, but it’s small and the door opens onto the central courtyard, noisy. But it’s a classroom. The two other reading teachers aren’t so lucky – one has to share a room and the other will travel with a cart. It wasn’t supposed to be this way-we were all supposed to have classrooms, but the dept head wasn’t able to meet with the principal before he left. My son will help me move furniture and carry in boxes for me. I’m so grateful he can do that. As for books, I’m going to not finish a book that is way too long for no reason, The Summer of Songbirds, and read one that looks good. Life is too short! Enjoy your boys and the rest of your summer!

    1. Me too! Oh man, a scandal! That is not what you bargained for! I hope yesterday went well and I hope you have a great start! I agree about not finishing a book you aren’t into!

  6. Setting an alarm next week is going to be brutal for me haha
I love not having to pack a lunch in the summer and do Kroger pickup whenever I want. It’s the little things πŸ˜†

    1. I hate to tell you this, but I wonder if I am done setting an alarm regularly. I wake up naturally around 6 and won’t have to leave for work until 8:15 now. It is the little things – I was so tired of meal prep and I got the break I needed!

  7. I too am trying to soak up the last of summer vacation while also being aware that back to school is coming in faster than I’d like. I need to make “back to school” muffins this week… Yikes.
