I thought I would recap my Summer List to see how I’ve done and maybe give myself a “grade”! My original goals will be in bold type and my comments will be in regular font.
Read! – I think I am on my 10th book.
This was one of my favorites:

You can see my other books here!
Catch up on movies and tv – Yes, I would say I have watched a good deal, but I rarely have turned on the t.v. during the day. I usually don’t watch anything until after dinner. It’s funny because I keep a very similar routine in the summer as I do in the school year, just with times slightly later.
I have also gone to three movies at the theater! I saw Asteroid City, No Hard Feelings, and Barbie.

I got a trial of HBO for the Sex and the City reboot and I also enjoyed The Sex Lives of College Girls – not as bad as it sounds!

Go to the movies with the whole family – Saw Asteroid City
3 pm coffee or iced coffee – I have only done this a couple of times. It just hasn’t appealed to me and I am trying to get the rest of my water in, I think!

Start a stretching routine – I did not do this. I am still not flexible! Ha!
Move body each day/start a good exercise routine again – I have gone to the gym on average 2 -3 times a week, but I would not say that my heart is fully in it.
Try some new recipes – Yes! I especially enjoyed potatoes au gratin.

Celebrate Tom’s birthday – Yes! We had a nice family time!

Celebrate Father’s Day – We made a nice meal and gave Tom movie tickets!
Take a wine walk with wine in my Stanley Cup. This will also serve as a weighted walk since the Stanley is so heavy – Ha! – I did not do this. It’s just so heavy. I decided I don’t really like my Stanley. I am a Tervis Tumbler and a Yeti girl. Don’t fix what ain’t broken.
Buy a bag of Chick Fil A ice to keep in freezer – Yes, but not that impressed. I did it, though!
Shop at Asian Market and see if I can try something new to me – I did go, but left empty handed. It was very interesting, though!
Shop at Mexican market and see if I can try something new to me – I did and I left with a few things. I enjoyed buying some spices there.
Eat more fish/cook more fish/visit a local specialty fish market called Lori’s Fish Market – I ate fish a few times, but did not go to the market yet.
Go to farmers market – I went twice!
The Asian Market:

Go to adult pool – One of our pools has an 18 and over pool. It’s nothing inappropriate! – I went once with Beth.

Go to Omni rooftop pool – I just went this past Monday with Beth! Apparently Beth is my pool friend.

Enjoy the boat with just Tom – Yes! We have gone out several times with just the two of us.

Sunset on boat – we don’t often go out in the evening but everytime we do I wish we did it more – Once at the beginning of summer we were out until sunset, I think.

Invite different friends on the boat – Yes, we have gone out with friends more than with just the two of us.

Walk to breakfast with Tom – we have at least 3 breakfast places in walking distance – Tom is just so busy on weekend mornings! I can try to push this to the fall!
Make strawberry freezer jam – I did one batch.

Make pickles – Yes! I just plan to buy them now – they weren’t that good!
Use up gift cards from students – I used my Target and Taco Bell!
Declutter and prepare a nice area for houseguests at the end of August – I have started in the bedroom where they will be staying. I cleaned out an entire closet!
Go through my list of spaces and totally clean things out. I have already done my silverware holders. I need to do spices and things like that. – I have done spices, one closet, and silverware, and have plans to do more.
Try to play pickleball – No – the two friends who play are very busy. The one goes to play at 8:30 usually and that’s just too late for this gal.
Go to festivals and music events – I went to the Greek Festival and this outdoor concert.

Go hear live music – I only went to the concert in the above photo.
Have a picnic – maybe at the Sunday afternoon farmer’s market in the park nearby – I have not done this yet. Do you count a picnic on the boat?
Spend time in my hometown and hopefully match schedules up with all the busy teen nieces and nephews – I got to see all of them and look at their press on nails:

Go to my hometown by boat– We usually do this in September when it cools off a bit.
Celebrate our 23rd anniversary – Tom and I went to River House!

Take a short overnight trip with Tom – No – we talked about it, but had a lot of expenses come up and we are saving for something.
Try new restaurants with Tom, friends, and our kids – We have mostly been to old favorites.
A wonderful happy hour lemondrop martini with Elizabeth:

Hotel Genevieve with Heather:

Spend as much quality time as possible with my kids as this could be the last summer they live here – cue the tears – Yes! In fact, I have planned many of my days around when they would be home and waited until they were busy to do my things.
Go hiking – No I have not done this yet.
I had 38 things on my list and I did 29 of them according to my count. I guess I would give myself a B, maybe?
How about you? Did you have a list? How did you do?
Amy
I think you look wonderful in the Barbie black shirt. I have been wanting to comment each time you posted the picture.

Aww, thank you. I think it was a good angle and good pose because I am not feeling my best this summer. Too many sweets and snacks!

Awesome job! You are crushing your summer list! We are getting there- can’t believe we still haven’t been to the beach- that is a mortal sin in this house- ha!

Thank you! How far is the beach for you? I think it just gets harder with your girls’ ages and having so many more obligations. Don’t be too hard on yourself!

I’d give you an A! It’s easy to let the summer break slip away but you made the most of it and I think having a bucket list helps. Nice job, Amy!

Aww, thanks, teach! But I get an F for not buying Vionics yet! I plan to push a few things to my “early fall list” and that will also include activities we have planned for the Germans that are visiting.

You did pretty well! I’m doing pretty well too; though there are 2 things on my list I decided I don’t really want to do anymore (I don’t have the energy for a family/friends cookout and we’ve been eating so much ice cream that I have zero desire to make any).

Thanks! It’s ok to cross things off! I get that – I wouldn’t want to do that, either!

You did great w/ your list! I still haven’t written mine out. Love the picture of Ernie w/ Tom. That dog is so sweet! I am starting on our guest room, to get it looking more like a guest room rather than a “put it in the guest room” room. It is a big job but I’m determined!

Thank you! You could do an “end of summer” list! Never too late! Thank you! I am also working on turning Mason’s room temporarily into a guest room for my Germans. Lol!

I think you’ve done well at your summer list, my friend! I knew you would accomplish almost all of it when I first read your list of things. I think the key is to make everything simple and attainable. I also enjoyed a lemon drop martini over the summer – it was my first, and holy Batman, it was delicious. It was super sweet, but the one wasn’t too bad. That was the night at the beach when I ate bread, had that drink, AND shared a slice of coconut pie with my friend. I thought I was going to be sick that night, because of all the sugar. When you eat a little amount of sugar each day, too much makes you sick. I would love to go to a rooftop pool! I love that you spent quality time with all of your people. What a gift that is!

Thank you! I think my things were rather simple. This lemon drop was perfect – not too sweet. Man, was it good. I was still thinking about it for days! And, for $7! My sweet tooth is alive and well, but yes, that does happen.
Do you have one in Memphis? You could check Resort Pass.
It is such a gift!

You did great! I didn’t even have a list. With this writer’s strike, I have thought this is a great time to catch up on so many shows that I’ve wanted to watch though. I’m so glad you were able to squeeze all of this in before school starts. I would give you an A! 🙂

That is a good point about catching up on shows. We may not have many new ones in the future. Thank you! You are an easy grader to give me an A! Ha – just kidding!

I think you did great! Spending time with your boys trumps the rest and you’ll be back to school next week. I’m sure you will be able to squeeze a few more things in before Labor Day too. Also I agree with Jen, the Barbie tee and black skirt/skort is a darling outfit on you!

Yes it does! I am trying to take things as they come – first is my room and beginning of year, then is one kid moving out, then is the German visit, then is the one leaving for England. I am a bit anxious but it is all good and exciting stuff. I have lots of friends who are going to be sad come August so I told them I would be here to make sure they have fun.
Aww, thank you – it was just a good angle. I am not looking or feeling my best.

Thank you – you know I was telling my friend that I just enjoyed being around the house when my kids were home. I always said yes to a food request or a “watch a show” request with me and that is what I needed. I know you can relate.
There was nothing big or huge on my list, but they were things that make me happy.

I love my Stanley cup and have used it every day since I got it for Christmas. However, it’s definitely not a travel mug so I just use it at home. I didn’t make a list for the summer but enjoyed having all 3 of my kids home. I haven’t enjoyed summer last year or this year because it’s so insanely hot in Texas 🥵😬 Even swimming pools aren’t fun because they feel like bath water ☹️

I should have explained that I love it for keeping at school. It’s not likely to fall over on my papers. I take it home to wash but leave it on my desk most of the time.
I am so sorry. That heat would make me the laziest human ever.
No, that is not fun.
But, just think of your other seasons when the rest of us are cold! Ha!

I think you did an amazing job with your summer list. I need to get into that kind of routine. I just started using an editorial calendar for blogging…when I remember to use it!
Have a fabulous weekend!

Great list and you did so good! I’ve read all your wonderful summer posts and they have brightened my days every time!
Well, I’m home again after a crazy month in Florida… Let me tell you; everything and nothing happened… and don’t get me started on the travel in itself… (took us three days to come home… long story, I really should start a blog!).
