Hello to all and happy Monday! I am linking up with Sarah and Holly to recap the weekend. Did you have a good one? Boy, the weekends are ticking off on the ol’ calendar quite quickly.

I went to Barbie last Thursday night to start off the weekend and it was silly and cheesy which is what I thought it would be. I have a few more thoughts but don’t want to give anything away if you haven’t seen it yet.

Also, I wore my Barbie shirt a few times this weekend and got so many comments. I got it from Amazon for $13.

I used my new TJ Maxx OPI to do a Barbie mani to match my Barbi pedi. I really do love hot pink, so this was no sacrifice!

This book took me a sweet forever to finish, but I did. It could have probably had 100 pages cut out and still had the same ending. I really did like how it all wrapped up, but lawd.

Then, I started and finished this so quickly (in 24 hours basically) and it was just the type of summer chick lit I needed. It is rated R and there were things/details that bugged me, but I forgave it after Someone Else’s Shoes.

Don’t you love when your mani matches your book cover. Just me? Ha!

Friday dawned bright and sunny and I had a beautiful leisurely morning (after the gym) and then I took myself on a window-shopping spree. I didn’t buy a thing but I browsed in 5 stores and enjoyed just being out with myself.

This shop had just moved into a larger space and I hadn’t seen it yet.

My sister texted me that she had ordered a Barbie drink at a restaurant, so I tried my own version with what I had on hand and it turned out great!

I did rum, Crystal Light lemonade powder, pineapple juice, hibiscus syrup, and a coconut La Croix. Also, I used my Chick Fil A ice!

Friday night, Tom wanted to go to Costco so that was our date night – ha!

But, after a week of cooking a lot, he took me to one of our favorite Mexican restaurants near Costco.

I got a skinny margarita with a bit of strawberry puree that the waiter suggested and it was so good!

We split my favorite dish – the fajita bowl.

After we had been there about 15 minutes, they sat our friends next to us! We invited them to join us and it turned out quite nice!

It’s almost time for me to be “Señora” again so I used my mug Saturday morning.

I had another leisurely morning on the patio before it got too hot. There’s a theme here. Lots of outdoor time and reading is my self-care.

I finally used this mix I had gotten weeks ago. Can Krusteaz ever go wrong? Other than the 2 hours and 40 minute wait time at two different stages, this turned out so awesome and really sour if you like sourdough bread. It’s supposed to be one of the best breads for you, I think. It’s not “ready in about an hour” so they do lie on the box.

I have to show you something really cute. Tom goes on a 32 mile bike ride most Saturday mornings. I track him on my phone to make sure he is ok and to see how he is doing. It takes him about 2 hours and 15 minutes. So, at about the end of that time, I tell Ernie we are going to go wait for “Daddy” and we go out front. Doesn’t it look like he’s smiling? This dog is obsessed with Tom. It’s so funny, too, because Tom took the loss of our first dog so hard and didn’t want to adopt a new puppy. He really didn’t spend as much time with Ernie as I did during the first 6 months we had him, but then something happened and Tom fell hard and Ernie harder.

I try to remind Ernie that I’m the one who boils his chicken multiple times a week!

I didn’t leave the house Saturday until it was time to meet our friends at the outdoor concert. I don’t love this about myself, but it’s almost like I can only do one activity a day. If I have an evening activity, I stay home in preparation. Are you like this?

My friend had staked out a bit of shade and it felt so nice. We got food truck food and enjoyed some live music.

Sunday morning I started this:

Then, I ordered the groceries for the week and wrote down my meal plan and did lots of hardcore cleaning.

Here come the 90s! Maybe it won’t be so bad with clouds involved. Do you see something missing from my forecast? Rain! We shall see!

I really love where I live. It’s gorgeous in the fall and spring and our winters aren’t too bad. Summer is really quite pleasant for the most part, too. I feel so bad for some people who have the unbearable sticky heat for the majority of summer.

Tell me the highlight of your weekend!

Amy

  1. Oh I think I may need to see the Barbie movie- LOVE your shirt AND the nails- you are on point. My high school bestie and I are headed to NYC next weekend and we are having lunch at the Barbie cafe- I snagged us matching shirts on Amazon 🙂

  2. I love your nails! I find that I either need just one thing on the calendar for the day’s activity or multiple activities need to be somewhat back to back because if I make it back home and get comfy in between there is a real good chance I’m not going to keep that second commitment at all.

  4. When we went to the movie Saturday night, everyone in the theater just about had on some shade of pink. In my picture that you saw this morning, the five of us all wore varying shades as well. I didn’t buy anything except for the pink bracelets on Saturday morning, but I’ll wear those a lot. The shirt I wore was perfect, since I’m not a bright or hot pink person. I do love it, I just don’t love the way it looks on me in a shirt. On my nails is a different story!

I love the way Ernie is smiling at Tom! What a fun date night and Saturday night the two of you had. That fajita bowl looks AMAZING. I also ordered my groceries and will be picking them up today. I already have my meals planned for the week too, which feels wonderful. I feel like I’m already winning this week, and it’s barely started.

I do the same as you- I often just do one thing a day. I didn’t do that Saturday, though, and went out twice. I think that’s a quirky character trait about both of us. I’m an introvert, but an extroverted one, if that makes sense. I love being alone, but I also love being around people sometimes. Here’s to a great Monday, my friend!

  5. What a fun weekend! I am going to see Barbie tonight, so maybe I will paint my nails pink today. I am like you, I prefer just one activity a day, but if I do too much, I definitley want some time at home the next day to catch up, which basically means, being lazy :). Thankfully, our weather was very nice over the last week.

  6. I’m going to see Barbie with my friend on Saturday and I’m really looking forward to it! I love your nails and Barbie T-shirt. Looks like you had a great weekend and the outdoor concert looks like fun. Your señora mug is just so cute. Not sure when your school holidays end but I hope it’s not too soon. Long summer holidays are the best!

  7. Definitely Barbie was the highlight of my weekend. For me it wasn’t nearly as cheesy and silly as I expected – not sure what I thought but it was better for sure.
I’m with you – Krusteaze does EVERYTHING so well!
And I can absolutely see the joy in Ernie’s face in that pic with him and Tom. I believe dogs do smile with their whole face!!

    1. So nostalgic -that’s for sure. I hadn’t thought of some of the things in a long time.
You can’t go wrong with that brand!
I know – it’s such a pure love and joy!

  8. I am a one thing a day person too BUT sometimes (the weekends) it happens we have more than one thing. My most FAVORITE for the weekend was I shot my lowest round ever in golf! 89! I have NEVER EVER broke 90 and I tied with Tony. If you understand golf, you know this is a HUGE accomplishment and I am SO PROUD OF MYSELF! We golfed yesterday and it was hot (108 was our high ) and we dont have the humidity THANK GOD and then saw Mission Impossible and had dinner out with our friends (who were thrilled for my low score in golf!) Today I am working out then heading to my HAPPY PLACE for 10 days. The highs are in the low 70’s and I am so excited to get away from the heat. Tony is NOT as excited for me to leave however, but I keep reminding him that he will be fine. Will he have to do his own laundry? Yes. Will he live? Yes. Will he have to forage for his own dinner? Again….Yes. LOL Happy Monday! (ps…dont fret too much for him…he will be over Thursday to Sunday and will be under my wing for a few days!)

  9. We are planning to see Barbie next weekend. That;s so sweet how Ernie has a sweet spot for your husband! The concert looks like lots of fun, and I am the same way about conserving my energy for one event per day…ha, ha!

  10. Oh, you really can’t go wrong with Krusteaz, it is always the brand I pick up first! We have had a Costco membership for years and my husband set it up. I need to see how I can get my own card (or how that all works), so I can go on my own. He usually just gets specific things there like his protein shakes, fish oil pills (ha!) and just a lot of other stuff. I am sure I would find a lot more! LOL!

    1. Right? Such a good brand! I don’t think it would be hard for you to get your own card if you go with him to customer service? I plan to go stock up on easy stuff before school starts. Maybe I will do a blog post!

  11. Glad you are enjoying your last weeks of summer! Loved the picture of Ernie with Tom…there is nothing like the love of a doggie 🙂
You inspire me to sit back and read more! Thank you. And yes, I “get” the “one thing a day limit” – ha! I still push myself, though….baked at church Sunday morning, then came home and rearranged a bunch of landscaping before heading to pickleball AND saying “yes” to dinner with my kids coming in off the boat. That all took me out….but I did it!!!

    1. I know! Thank you!
Oh good – yes – don’t always be “working” at home. My sister is guilty of that. Well, you have to say yes when you have opportunities and somehow they all end up in the same day – right?

  12. I can’t wait to see Barbie, but I don’t think I have a single pink thing! I guess I’ll have to find something or stand out in the audience! Our last (not our current) Westie smiled a lot. People were always amazed when he’d smile at them. It was a genuine smile because Westies are known for their attitudes! Jack, our current Westie, thinks he’s a cat so he has a completely different attitude. I am an extroverted introvert so I’m always more comfortable at home. When I was teaching, though, I loved being in my classroom. I guess it was my home away from home.

I hope you have a fabulous week!

    1. Keep expectations low and just go for the entertainment. You can wear white or black! Ha! Not everyone is dressed in pink. I love seeing animals that look like they are smiling!
Same with me – I need the down time to fill my cup after being so peopley!
      You too!

I love the pic of Ernie greeting Tom…precious!
The pic of you and your friends is the perfect summer photo.
I’m absolutely the same way— if I know I have one thing to do, I feel like that’s all I can handle lol

    1. Thank you! I was thinking I can wear it to school with a blazer or cardigan. He loves his Daddy!
Isn’t that funny! I really should do two things a day on a weekend!

  14. Yes, school is approaching fast! I activated the 20% off one shopping for teachers in my Target app. I hope it will let me get a mini fridge for school at 20% off, as I didn’t see it as an exclusion. On Saturday I went out to lunch with 6 coworkers from my new school, and while I was nervous about it for days, I had a great time. It put my worries to rest for the most part. My friend at the school organized it, so nice of her. There is a new to the school meet and greet next week that I’m going to attend. There will be two other new to school reading teachers, so I’ll get to meet them as well. It is so hot and humid here right now, in the low to mid 90s every day. I don’t care for it either. Have a great week!

  15. My husband is currently riding RAGBRAI (bike ride across Iowa) this year it’s 500 miles in 6-7 days. It’s not a race and at each stopping point for the day there is a festival. He did it last year and really enjoyed it.
I read the JoJo Moyes book and thought it was good but it took me a while. I just finished On Fire Island and it was a cute, quick, enjoyable read.
