I had a good week! How was yours? Mine was a good mix of leisure and productivity. I am linking up with Andrea and Erika for Friday Favorites.

First, let’s start with productivity…I lost my social security card so I spent almost 2 hours in the local office waiting to apply for a new one. Adulting, am I right? I also finally purchased (after weeks of checking prices) Mason’s plane ticket to England. Eek! My twins turn 21 and then Mason leaves for England right after that. Thank you for the suggestions for how to celebrate. It will need to be low key and in town because of the timing of their birthday on a week night after Labor Day weekend and with school just ramping up for Jack and I.

Now let’s talk about the fun favorites…

I didn’t get a photo, but I got to meet with my former student (and recent college grad) for coffee this week! Madeleine was the winner of the Spanish award her senior year, by the way! This summer she is working for Jennifer Lawrence’s family’s summer camp, but she wanted to talk about applying for her master’s in teaching and starting in the fall. It was like no time had passed! I tried a lavender latte and no – just no. It just doesn’t work together. Also, Jennifer Lawrence went to the middle school where my kids went and she probably would have been at my high school had she not left for acting opportunities. My students several years ago were her classmates and I think one guy asked her to homecoming before she hit it big with Hunger Games.

Madeleine:

Last Saturday I went to Ulta on a mission. I bought this:

A little goes a long way and I really like it.

This:

It has a brow pencil and a spooly brush at the end. I still am using my NYX gel. too.

And, I have been so curious about Maracuja Juicy for years. I love it! It matches with your ph level and creates your unique color while giving you some plumping.

I love my bedroom. We haven’t done anything else yet like get a console table and put a flat screen above it or add a corner reading chair for me, but it makes me happy to wake up in my room every morning. I’ve been trying to open the French doors many mornings like they do in the movies…”Hello World!”

I’ve been pretty organized with meals this week.

We’ve had lemon grilled chicken with broccoli and whole wheat linguine:

Sheet pan fajitas with all the fixings:

Sheet pan turkey sausage with vegetables:

Yes, that is a cake spatula because all of my normal ones were dirty!

I visited the Mexican supermarket this week (Summer List item!):

I only heard Spanish and the cashier spoke to me in Spanish – so fun!

Cactus leaves:

I bought 2 giant carrots for 47 cents!

tomatillos:

I came home with a few produce items, pasta, and a couple of canned goods. It was very fun!

I finished this book and really liked it. I’m not sure it’s for everyone and some might think it moves too slowly. I liked the NYC and Jewish references and the characters and their relationships.

And, I have just barely started this. My library requests are coming in hot and I will have to make some choices.

After over a month of not meal prepping breakfasts this summer, I got back to a bit of it. I made my low carb egg caserole and cooked up some veg. I am obsessed with Amy Lu chicken breakfast sausage links.

I don’t think I will shop the Nordstrom sale at all this year and I haven’t for the past few years, either. Is it just me or does all the stuff look the same as last year’s stuff? Also, I think I am pretty set for fall and winter other than some waterproof short boots and some pants I would like to add. I may eat my words, though. What about you?

I did participate in Prime Days…

I needed new hairbands, a refresh of my pillow spray, and Ernie needed new treats. I have been unhappy with my eyeshadow situation so I’m trying these sticks, and I got new Pryrex lids – where do they all go?

The chargers have gotten swiped again! I ordered a two pack.

I also ordered a Barbie t-shirt!

What about you? Did you shop Prime Days?

I had a TJ Maxx gift card and wanted to get a pretty pink for my toes and found this color!

And, I scored my Barbie ticket for the Sneak Preview night with my besties.

I am trying to get outside early in the day because our mosquitos are just horrible by 5 p.m. ish. We have had lovely mornings this week!

This might be my new favorite scent for a candle. Have you smelled Lakeside Morning?

Yesterday I was supposed to go to the pool with Beth, but the forecast was iffy so we did breakfast at Biscuit Belly. We were kind of bummed when the day turned out to be pretty good for the pool but we had already pivoted.

And, yesterday afternoon, I got to see Elizabeth for the first time in about a month. We met at Napa and had lemon drop martinis – yum!

And, I got her wedding photos finally! She used Kelly Keene Photography.

Speaking of weddings, our 23rd wedding anniversary is tomorrow! We have dinner reservations and I’m excited!

Happy Friday! Any fun plans?

Amy

  1. Happy anniversary! I didn’t buy anything at all on Amazon during their Prime Days and I have zero plans to shop Nordstrom’s either. I too am feeling like I have plenty of fall/winter clothes and hope I can hold myself back from buying anything new. I utterly failed at that with summer clothing!

  2. Happy Anniversary!! The wedding photos look so good – what a beautiful bride!
The NSale – ugh – DISAPPOINTING. I feel so badly for all of the bloggers who prepped for the sale and have all their blog posts dedicated to it. Practically everything is sold out and it is the same as last year, and the year before. It is way overrated.
    I love your Barbie T!

    1. Thank you! She was gorgeous!
Right? I didn’t even think about those who depend on that income. That is sad. As I have looked at collages, I have so many of the things or something similar. Plus, it just got so hot, so it’s really hard to think about!

  4. Happy anniversary! I can’t wait to hear about where you go to celebrate. I love a lemon drop martini! I had one while I was at the beach a few weeks ago. I feel like I need a Barbie t-shirt! I’m going in a week with my friend and some of her other friends for her birthday- I can’t wait to see it!

    1. Thank you! This lemon drop is the best I have had and their happy hour special was $7 for one! Get you a Barbie t. I thought it was fun! I can’t either!

  5. Happy Anniversary! I’m always hungry after looking at your meals! 😋 After shopping the Nordstrom sale the past few years, I’ve come to realize that it’s more of a stock up sale rather than new and trendy items. Last year I bought 3 pairs of Wit and Wisdom. I wore the heck out of them! I don’t buy much during the sale, just things I need.

  6. I think that is how everyone is feeling about the N Sale. It seems like the dept stores are having a hard time keeping up with the styles and prices on Amazon and even Walmart. I know Nordstrom is supposed to be better quality, but I can’t see much of a difference on some of the things I’ve bought from them in the past. You are going to have a busy month with the boys’ birthdays, school starting and then the study abroad preparations! Happy Anniversary! We just celebrated 22 years in April.

  7. Happy Anniversary! We are going to a 2 year old pizza bday party (joy..not) for my husbands nieces sons bday. Then going to see Sound of Freedom. Sunday we leave for So. Cal and will hang out down there and see an Angels vs. Yankees baseball game on Monday and home Tuesday! Happy weekend!

  8. The Mexican supermarket looks great. When my mum and I visited L.A. many years ago. We were both so excited and surprised at how many people spoke Spanish! We were in Disneyland and we could hear Spanish all around us. My mum was convinced that it was some sort of special Mexican day hahaha! Over here we have a real mix of cultures but we don’t have many people from Spanish-speaking countries. Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Anniversary!

  9. Happy Anniversary! Gosh, I feel old…we celebrated 47 years in June! I keep telling my body it’s still 18, but it doesn’t believe me!

As I’ve only discovered you recently, is this your daughter’s wedding? Her dress is amazing! I didn’t shop the Amazon Prime days because I’m the only person in the world who doesn’t have Amazon Prime. I probably will pick up some of my favorite beauty products at the Nordstrom sale. Honestly, I think it’s overhyped. I was going to say a few, but it’s probably closer to ten years ago, I remember getting so excited to see what was coming. But, now, it’s just meh.

I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

    1. They go either way and that is Tom’s doing. He picks the best stuff that I don’t know existed but he also has more expensive taste. He has to pick all the major stuff and I always like it.
      I can’t keep up either!
I was like meh when my friend suggested it but I have a new fave – the brekkie bowl
The lemon drops were only $7 at HH and so good

  11. Oh wow! How exciting for your son to be studing over here in England. I am guessing 5 hours from London would be Durham or Newcastle. How exciting.
All of that food looks amazing especially the fajitas.
I really want to see the Barbie movie but my girls don’t want to see it, I think I will have to go myself.
