Let me explain my title! You can find a million blog posts on the air fryer (guilty!), the instant pot, the crockpot (definitely not sexy!), and – not really an appliance – but the Our Place pans. It reminds me of all the hype regarding Buc-ee’s. Kentucky just got their first one fairly recently and so many people have talked about it. Guys, it’s a gas station. Just like…guys, it’s a freaking pan.

Let me talk about an appliance that I purchased maybe 10 years ago at Kroger for $19.99. It’s an electric non-stick griddle. Well, this isn’t that one. My colleague borrowed it to make arepas and then dropped and broke it so she replaced it with this about 5 years ago. Non-essential back story, but I want to make sure you have all the facts.

Here’s the box. I keep it in the original box, and it lives in my front hall closet because I don’t really have room for it elsewhere.

I recently took it to the bachelorette weekend where I was in charge of bougie brioche French toast and bougie brioche grilled cheese. You can fit up to 6 sandwiches, pancakes, etc. on it.

This would be great to take on a vacay where you will be feeding several people. Also, don’t forget that the knives always suck at rental places if you plan to do any cooking. BYOK!

Maybe this will go on sale more today during Prime Days?

You really don’t even need any butter or Pam because of the non-stick feature.

I use mine for French toast, grilled cheese, pancakes, and…

do you remember me getting to try out my friend’s Blackstone? I decided to do an indoor mini Blackstone hack.

Ok, this worked great! I need to get my hands on some of that magical Blackstone oil.

Does anyone else have one of these non-sexy appliances? Could you see this being useful for you?

What is your most sexy appliance? I am just getting weird now and I swear I am stone cold sober.

I also like saying the word “griddle”. I just don’t say it enough!

  1. I am so glad you mentioned your griddle. I could use this to cook more than pancakes. My oven heats up my kitchen so much that I don’t use it in the summer. I could use my griddle. I always enjoy your blog!

  2. We use our griddle for cooking bacon (since it has a tray to catch the grease) and pancakes but I have never used it to cook much of anything else!

  3. Yes I have one of these griddles. I love it and bought it many years ago at JC Penny. It was a day after Thanksgiving sale. I use mine mostly to make pancakes and Grilled cheese sandwiches. It’s funny where you keep yours because mine lives beside the space where my refrigerator and wall is. Lol. Whatever works right?

  4. I have one of these as well, and I use it for all the things you do. I’ve even made hamburgers and hot dogs on mine. but I wouldn’t recommend doing hamburgers on it, though. It’s a great idea to sautee veggies on it! We do also have a blackstone, but we don’t use it much in the summer, since it’s always so hot. It gets used the most in the other seasons, and we keep it in our garage, because it’s super nice. My current favorite appliance is our air fryer. We use it every single day!

  5. My non-sexiest appliance is probably our current coffeepot (just a basic krups drip) and my black and decker hand mixer. I prefer the hand mixer for most things! The kitchen aid is good for cookie dough and pizza dough. I feel like it always makes a mess and doesn’t mix well enough.
You kind of make me want a griddle but the thought of another appliance is Too Much.

  6. I was just laughing out loud at your intro…so true that there seem to be waves of popularity on certain appliances and kitchen items. I remember when it was the instant pot. When I saw how big it actually was, I decided against getting one. My current fave is our toaster oven/airfryer. It looks nice on the counter top and works so great!

  7. yes ma’am! I actually asked for one of these griddles for the beach house and I LOVE IT! I use it for making grilled cheese sandwiches, for pancakes, for suasage patties and links. I love it!!

  8. I used to have one of those and can’t think why I got rid of it! Maybe it broke. I have a griddle “attachment” on my gas stove, but I don’t use it because I hate the mess! We did buy a Blackstone griddle and love it…well, I love it because I don’t use it! Hmmm…a sexy appliance…my toaster, maybe? I can do bagels, toast, pop tarts!

    1. This griddle can be washed in the sink and comes clean very easily bc you take off the electric attachment. I love my air fryer/toaster but it takes up lots of space. But, I can cook our entire dinner in it!
