I am here on a Saturday, linking up with Jennifer and others for Share 4 Somethings.

ONE:

I just heard that barely polished nails are a trend! I am loving this look (without knowing it was a trend) and it’s so forgiving for all the water we are in during the summer. Even if you get a little chip, it’s hardly noticeable. I am currently using the Kur Londontown pinkish one. It’s all about “your nails but better”. It isn’t cheap, but I find that quality polish matters. I am set to use up the whole bottle which rarely happens.

TWO:

I had my hair appointment Thursday, and my stylist mentioned a boutique we both like having their tent sale. I came home with some sleep/lounge shorts for $5 and the original price was $62!

I also got the most gorgeous bag and I save both gift bags and tissue paper and recycle them. Do you do that? I bet this bag would cost more than the shorts for $5! I rarely have to buy gift bags and I love having a little stash because I love gift giving.

THREE:

I am really loving salads lately. Tom sent me this one to try:

But, let me tell you about the most amazing dressing. This is Cheese Gal on IG’s house dressing. I am pretty sure I mentioned it before but I need to share again just because I have now had it a few times!

Get a Mason jar – they are so great for this:

1 cup olive oil

1/3 cup apple cider vinegar

1/4 cup soy sauce

1 T. dijon

1 t. pepper

4 garlic cloves minced (I just use the jar)

Shake up the Mason jar and you are done. It makes a lot so I halved the recipe. You may need to add a bit of salt, but the soy sauce is quite salty.

Trust me when I say this. Once you start making your own salad dressings, you can’t go back to the bottled stuff. You have all of these ingredients already, too!

Also, I like my lettuce chopped really small. It makes a big difference in my ability to eat it.

FOUR:

Are you comfortable doing things alone? I am. I really like running errands alone and I even like going to the farmer’s market alone.

I plan to go see this alone next week:

Tuesdays are $5 movie days at my favorite theater so I will try to go then!

What 4 somethings would you share? Share 1 something?

Happy Saturday!

Amy

  1. The nails look lovely! I really should experiment more with making dressings; I seem to just stick to my usual homemade Italian because it’s quick and easy,

  2. I didn’t know barely polished nails are a trend, but I love it (especially since I barely ever polish my nails anymore, lol). The color you share here is really nice! I always save gift bags and paper too. We’ve had some bags in our family for years that go back and forth with gifts. 🙂

    1. I didn’t know either! But, I am accidentally on trend. I have been enjoying either bare nails or this light polish. Thank you! That’s so funny – the bags really last for so long and it’s silly and bad for the environment to throw them away!

  3. Loved Ernie’s photo from yesterday! We make our own salad dressing too and it’s true, once you start you can no longer eat the bottled. I was a flight attendant for a long time after college and once I quit, I stopped painting my fingernails. I just got so tired of doing them and back then there wasn’t a nail salon on every corner. I might try this polish as it is so neutral and light. Can’t think of 4 things this morning so will move on. Have a great weekend! BTW, we’re still having rain here in Virginia. Haven’t seen the sun out for quite a while.

    1. Thank you! That’s great that you make them, too. Ah, that makes sense. Some people have beautiful natural nails. Mine are not! I really like this polish and am set to use up both my bottles – unheard of for me
Ugh – the rain and the rain turned into a storm Sunday night and we just got power back this am.

  4. That dressing sounds delicious! I am a big saver with bags and tissue as well, even just the brown craft looking bags. I like to dress them up with fun tissue paper and ribbons, if I have some on hand. I love that you love to give gifts. You remind me of my sister Debi. I love your nails painted that way, and I know you’ve been doing that color for a long while now. I will probably not jump on that trend…you know me and my bold nail color choices! 🤣

    1. It’s so good – might cut down on the soy sauce to make it a bit less salty. Everything has tasted so salty lately.
      Yes to saving!
I have been enjoying this natural and neutral because it’s low maintenance. I also love bright colors but just haven’t been interested in the upkeep lately. I go in spurts – for sure!

  5. If a boutique has pretty packaging that I can reuse, I definitely do! I’m ok doing most things alone. I’ve only been to the movies a few times solo but I was definitely ok with it. I think one thing i probably wouldn’t typically do is eat out alone.

    1. Same! I really don’t think I have ever been to the movies alone and it was on my summer list last year and there just wasn’t a movie I wanted to see. Erica likes to eat out alone but I have only done coffee shops or lunch places and always with a book. I think I might try that, too.

  6. I love the nails and I’m glad to hear they are trending. I usually don’t do a lot with my nails. Especially in the summer. What a find on the shorts!!! Yea I always keep my bags and reuse them. The dressing sounds yummy. I love doing things on my own. Sometimes I even prefer it lol. Have a wonderful week.

    1. Thank you and me, too! I am the same – I don’t always enjoy shopping with other women. I have a few friends that are so slow and I get very bored. That’s mean, but it’s true!

  7. What a great deal on the lounging shorts! I like the trend of natural nails. I have been letting my nails heal and grow stronger the past few months. I went about 6 months going to the nail salon, but now have been trying to do them at home. Yes, I save gift bags and feel so efficient recycling them!

    1. I love them! I have already worn and washed them and I wonder if they still have the other pair on the rack! Pats self on back! That is how this started for me. I have been letting my nails heal and grow stronger and I am happy to say they are very healthy now. I also bought a buffer and it makes natural nails shiny and nice looking.
      Me too!

  8. Wow, what a great bargain! I save pretty bags sometimes as well though I also have a fair share of regular gift bags we just keep on reusing. I don’t mind doing things alone and do prefer to usually run errands alone. Hope you have a wonderful July!
