Once I started going out a bit more – to Target a few times and Kroger a few times (I still do pick up each week but sometimes I will run in for a couple of forgotten items), I realized I didn’t want to put my favorite tote style purse in the cart. I have long been a fan of the crossbody and this situation just calls for these. My favorite neutral crossbody was purchase from a consignment store a few years ago for $8.

With a cross body, your purse doesn’t touch anything but your body.

My wallet is the lemon pouch, keys, hand sanitizer, a cleaning wipe, and of course my mask are my new contents.

Do you use a cross body? Do you have a pandemic purse or a need for one?

    1. Shopping enabler here, right? I have a few but I would like a new one, too. My fringe is starting to seem a bit dated. The cross body has always been my bag of choice for farmers markets, outdoor festivals, etc. when I like to have hands free!

  1. I have begun putting my keys in one pocket, debit card in another, mask in one hand, wipe in the other. If I have a list, it upsets the whole thing. lol

    1. Haha! If you can be without a purse period, that is great! Summer gets harder without my jacket pockets. What a strange world it is now, right? Thanks for commenting!

  2. After the first grocery shop when this all started I realized I didn’t want to put my bag in the grocery cart so I started carrying a 15 year old Coach crossbody bag that I usually carry at street fairs or events. It’s pretty flat and only holds my wallet, keys, sunglasses and phone, but I usually leave my phone in the car so I won’t use it in the store and forget to wipe it down. Also if I have an appointment I wear a hat so I can set it upside down and put my stuff in it if I have to take the crossbody off.

    1. That was a great call, Nancy! I once put my phone in a baggie but now I just try not to use it. I did Target twice at 8:30 a.m. and just tried not to touch my phone. Good hat trick! Ha! Do you ever stop and think how weird this all is? When I do go out I feel like I am in an alternate universe!

      1. Alternate universe – Perfect description! I was just thinking what it all would look like when we look back on this time. Will we think it’s all overkill? Or that we were naive to open up so quickly? As for me I prefer to be conservative in my approach, but I am a rule follower too and am disheartened at the number of people who disregard the safety precautions in the name of personal rights.

  3. Warmer weather is finally here! The only bad thing is that I don’t wear gloves anymore… It felt good to have gloves everywhere! I’m not really scared about putting my stuff on surfaces here and there, but I’m really trying to keep a 2 m distance to everyone – except in school of course. Sweden is very normal again, it’s only the social distancing that is still on.

    1. Yay! I bought summer shopping gloves! But, people here are saying not to wear gloves bc you will touch your face and if your hands are bare you will remember to sanitize and wash. Who knows? You only have two more weeks, right! Yippee!

      1. Yes, two weeks with students and one third week with colleagues.
I’ve also heard that gloves can create a false security… and when you take them off, you touch one of them with a naked hand… I think that I don’t touch my face, but I probably do…

      2. I have terrific colleagues, but those days are so tiresome… We have a late staff meeting every Wednesday, and it is the only bad thing about my job!

  4. I generally like carrying a crossbody. I have continued to carry it during the pandemic, and have really scaled back what I carry. No need for all the extras for a quick trip to the store. Have a good week.

    1. Same here! I have definitely left most at home. I have only been gone for very short periods of time. Cross body’s are so practical. Does Grace have one for college?

  5. I’ve always carried a pretty big purse (I like to have all the things, “just in case”). 😉 I’ve just been using my jeans pockets – money/car in a back one, phone in the other, and my keys in a front pocket. A crossbody never crossed my mind. Thanks for the suggestion – off to Amazon I go!

    1. Me too! I like big purses! Another tip is to carry the cross body inside the big purse and pair down if needed and leave big purse in car. I do that with clutch purses – or I did when I used to go places. Check out the brand Myra on Amazon if that is your style!
