It’s already Thursday! That means that Thanksgiving is exactly one week away. I am linking up with Kellyann and Jill for Fashion Files and Holly and Patty for Monthly Musings today.

I have been on a bit of a shopping spree. I usually buy some things for my November 2nd birthday and then I have opened the floodgates. I am going to try to stop now.

I have been buying brown! I bought American Eagle classic sweatpants in brown and Quince wide leg lounge pants in brown. Brown is the “it” color apparently.

Let’s see what I’ve been wearing in the 50s and 60s degree weather we have been having.

I wore this to take lunch to my friend Elizabeth at her office. I am wearing black Halara jeans, an old green Walmart sweater, and a no wrinkle button up underneath. I think I should have tucked in the shirt and not left it hanging.

My shoes are new. I bought Dansko black Mary Jane clogs. Amazon had the best price I could find.

I wore this for some errands. I have on my Target cow mules, my striped Halara jeans, and my white button up from Aerie. I have two of these and I love them.

For a birthday dinner out I wore my new Old Navy black skirt (I got it in burgundy, too), my boutique blouse that you have seen a lot of, and my scalloped black cardigan. I have on my old suede boots from Target that have a bit of a country vibe.

For Saturday things I wore my Land’s End striped track pants, my exercise sneakers, a white tee and I think I put a jacket over.

For the German cooking class later that day I put on my boutique blouse, and….my extra petite medium wash Halaras came in that I pre-ordered a couple of months ago. They are perfect. I love them so much. I think my collection is complete now. I have 6 pairs of Halara jeans! I am wearing brown mule/clogs from last season.

Here I am in the new brown sweats (sorry for the sun glare), a brown shirt, and my leopard vest.

The brown sweats are a bit long but I can roll the waistband. They are so cozy. Why did we ever stop wearing sweats? By the way, they call them a “jogger” but to me a jogger has a pretty big band at the bottom. A sweat has an elastic bottom.

I got it in my head that I “needed” a hot pink sweater and I found one for 40% off at Old Navy in store. I have now worn it 3 times since Sunday!

It matches my new bag, too!

I also bought the cutest graphic tee while in ON that I will show you soon. I need to back off the shopping now!

I have no idea what I am wearing for Thanksgiving. I will have to look at the weather and look at my options.

  1. I love mashed potatoes! I really like the whole combo of the meal together, though.
  2. My sister in law’s mother in law makes the best stuffing/dressing. It doesn’t go in the bird cavity so I guess that is dressing. It is made with Stovetop cornbread box mix but with added sausage and things. It’s so good. I need to ask for the recipe.
  3. I am not. Our Christmas will be small and just the four of us but since Jack is out of the house I guess I will feel that I am kind of hosting this year. I want to make it special.
  4. Probably neither this year. I have never done or gone to a Turkey Trot on actual Thanksgiving day. We have almost always walked our dog at the nature preserve or done some exercise before eating the meal, though.
  5. The earliest I would do is the Wednesday before. I kind of like that. You come home (since we never host) and poof – it’s Christmas!
  6. Sit down.
  7. I am a pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving person because it’s really the only time I eat it!
  8. We are doing a day trip only I think.
  9. No! I do not want to be in that mess!
  10. I am most looking forward to some time with our family of four and then seeing my side of the family in a happy occasion and not a sad one – I hope.

Whew! That was a lot!

What are you wearing/buying right now?

What would you answer to one of the questions?

Amy

  1. It looks like the petite size in the jeans are winners! I´m somewhat on the cusp for petites fitting me better than regular even though I´m not officially petite. Brands are all different and you never know what will work for you until you try them! Your outfits all look good and I agree with you about joggers having a band around the ankle and not scrunchy elastic? The school I´m subbing at had ¨sweat pants¨ day at school for the staff that I did not consider participating in though I have a pair that I love… I like the leopard vest- it´s cute.

    1. Yeah – I’m 5’4 but petite length usually is best for me. I like when retailers have short options. Even the spirit days are getting in with the sweats trend! Thank you – I love a vest!

  2. The last thing I bought was a dress for TG but it’s not here yet so if it doesn’t fit and/or I don’t like it I’ll have to punt and get something out of my closet – ha! I have found a consignment shop that I really like and have purchased a few things from. . .I’m just not a “shopper” but do like getting new things! I love that you kept your leopard print vest.

You seem so happy and content with your Family of Four plans for the holidays – isn’t it wonderful being a part of a family that you enjoy celebrating with?? I love our large gatherings, but it’s probably because it’s what I’m “used” to – I will tell you our last couple family trips of “just the six of us” were so great. . .I do LOVE my people.

    Happy Thursday!!

    1. I hope it works! I love wearing a dress on TG. This year will be more casual for me, I think. Aren’t consignment shops great – maybe even more so for someone who doesn’t enjoy shopping. There is less to choose from.
I would also love a large gathering but on Eve and Day it’s just been us for several years.

  3. I can definitely see why you chose those clogs. Those are really cute and they look comfortable! All of your finds are definitely keepers. Thanksgiving will be quiet for me this year. Which is completely ok. I will watch the Macy’s Day Parade with some turkey and dressings with my two little furry friends. But I will be for certain decorating before Thanksgiving. That way the day after I am ready to go and in full Christmas mode! Have a Great Day!

    1. They are! I realized I didn’t have enough black footwear. Thank you!
That sounds really nice. Maybe some good movies will be on tv – we still have tv where you can click through and see the offerings and I like that!

  4. Oh that dressing recipe sounds delish! Hope you will get and share the recipe 🙂 Loving your outfits. I am so addicted to cute sweatpants now- I think I am being influenced by my girls-can’t get enough!

    1. I will try! I know it’s Stove Top Cornbread as the base. Thank you so much. I bet your girls influence your fashion so much and this is a good one. I’m also liking longer socks – a la 90s! They are so much warmer!

  5. I love the outfits this week! That vest is still so cute on you. I like the new black Dansko clogs! I used to love that brand, but they feel so heavy to me now. I need lightweight shoes with tons of support; I continue to love my Dr. Scholl’s brand of sneakers, and the pair of Nikes that I have. I’d love another pair of Nikes and anticipate getting some soon. I need all the sneakers!

I said this on Maria’s post, and I’ll say it here: I have only hosted once, and it was when my mom was out of town. The parental figures in my life never wanted to hand over the reins, and I’m a little bitter about it, honestly. If I were to offer to host, it wouldn’t go over well. But also, there would be a mismatched group of people here; I want to invite people over who don’t have places to go or loved ones to eat with. I think that would make it even more special!

    Happy Thursday! One week away!!!

    1. These are light! I hate the heavy traditional Danskos and they felt like
      Bricks.
You do need all the sneaks!
I love your idea for hosting and you should have a Friendsgiving!

  6. I have always liked wearing brown. I need to shop for pants, but that is best done in person and I just haven’t had time. I like the combination of all the foods together too. We always do a walk, and on Black Friday we try to do a hike of some kind. Hoping the weather cooperates and that happens this year too. I think we’re supposed to be cold again next week. I have loved this fall weather so much. Happy Thanksgiving!

    1. I forgot to mention that I ordered some Quince lounge pants and they are amazing. They were only about $35 and they are the softest things I have ever put on.
Hiking or walking is so good this time of year!

  7. I like your outfits. I have had the Dansko maryjanes for about 3 years and suddenly I am wearing them all the time. They are so comfy and supportive. I have also been loving and wearing a lot of brown lately.
This is is Patt, and I don’t know where the stupid username came from, but I have been trying to change it to no avail.

  8. If I do any Black Friday shopping, it will be online! I don’t like dealing with the crowds either. All of your outfits are cute! I bought some wide leg Wit and Wisdom jeans from the Nordstrom anniversary sale and I love them! I could wear them everyday because they are so comfortable. I’m wondering if I should buy black the black ones now!

  9. I love all of your new goodies! I did more than enough thrifting this month so it’s good we will be out of town next week. I am loving all of your cute outfits! It’s kind of warm here, so it has felt much like fall since by 10, layers have to come off. Today it was 57 at 7 am so no layers needed at all. Love that bright pink sweater!

    1. Thank you and now I need to stop! A bright pink sweater is a really easy thing to throw on and it makes me happy. I had one and then it got too small or it was always a bit too small!

  10. I’m not sure we’ve ever really left the house on Thanksgiving before… other than the year my mom hosted and we went to her house of course but I mean never for something like a football game or race or anything like that. I don’t know who is hosting for Christmas yet or what we’re doing but since it’s my husband’s side of the family I put him in charge and just don’t worry about it.

  11. I love that hot pink sweater! Does it wear well after washing?

I have an Aerie button-up I wear a lot too.

I think true joggers get slimmer on the calf and, to me, that’s what makes them not as comfortable. Give me these sweats any day.
