It’s Monday and that means it’s link up day with Sarah and Holly. I didn’t take many photos this weekend but the star of my weekend was my AC unit. I’m tired of talking about the heat. I apologize.

Is this the first sign of fall?

Still looks like summer!

I’m reading this and it’s cute but a bit sad and slow moving.

Friday Mason and I did a happy hour and I had a lovely blueberry lemon drop martini…

and Mason picked the appetizer of a local bread with dipping oil, balsamic, and butter…

We stopped at Fresh Market to get some dinner for everyone and I picked up Jenn’s fave ice cream. You don’t need much because it is rich but it’s one of the best things I’ve ever tasted!

I went to bed early Friday night. I got my Shingles shot on Wednesday and I didn’t really have side effects except I was very tired.

Saturday Tom and Eddie Otis went out and did their thing and I cleaned for two hours and I loved it. I washed rugs, too!

I still love my hall bath so much…

And, I still love my bathroom so much!

I also cleaned the basement bathroom. I might take a photo of that one, soon, for you. I determined I needed to get some new rugs for that one because I think the rugs were at least 10 years old. So, I went out to Target along with my library pick up. I also bought new hand towels and soaps.

You guys….acorn spice is out!

Here are my two library pick ups:

It’s almost time to stop reading summer books, no?

Tom took me out to a very fancy dinner after reading and staying in the AC the rest of Saturday. We went to Rooster’s! It’s a chain but I’m not sure where they are located.

We split the onion feathers but the rest of my meal was healthy – salad and grilled chicken.

Sunday I enjoyed my frothy coffee and Tom’s amazing fan.

What about you? Did you also stay inside in the AC?

Amy

  1. I really enjoyed Summer in the City! We spent a lot of our weekend in the A/C. Evan and I did make the mistake of heading out for a hike yesterday morning. The thermometer said it was in the 70’s but boy was that ever misleading! It was so hot and muggy all I could think about the whole hike was getting back home and taking a shower!

  2. Always in the AC here! We did have plans both Saturday and Sunday night which is very much out of character for us but fun!

I did walk outside yesterday and the sun felt good. Other than that our outside time was very limited. With about a month left of summer that won’t be changing any time soon!

I am reading a book now but I don’t love it and it is 700 pages! It’s due in a week so we’ll see if I get through it.

    Happy Monday!

    1. Wow! Two nights out! If I don’t love a book I just abandon it. I just decided not to feel any guilt over it. I hope you have a better week this week. I always had a mini breakdown at the start of the school year because I couldn’t keep up the pace of all the house stuff and all my job stuff. Tom got used to it!

  3. Our little town has a Rooster’s! Our area has a few and I honestly thought it was a local chain. We do take out more than dine in- between the multiple TV’s and the lively local chatter, it’s often too loud for me. I always get a kids meal if we do carry out cause it’s plenty of food and I get a soft drink :). Donnie always gets their grilled tenders. It was hot here and I stayed inside almost exclusively on Sunday. On Saturday, I did walk around outside. It was pretty miserable when we weren’t in the shade. Happy Monday!

    1. It was so loud! Also, people kept sneezing – like dramatically loud sneezing behind me. I can’t. The grilled tenders I got were very…wait for it…MOIST. I love getting a kids meal when they let you and take out always lets you! You don’t know I don’t have a 12 and under at my house!
      I am over the heat!
      You too!

  4. Those library books look good! The fallen leaf made me laugh; we all wish it was almost autumn! I’m counting down the days. I told a friend last night that I can’t wait for the first fire of the season, so that I can finally burn my wedding dress. I never got around to it last year! I want to read so bad…I wish I could. I miss it, but I still don’t want to give up. I need some library inspiration. I might visit there today after work, actually. Thanks for the reading inspiration! Happy Monday, my friend. xoxo

    1. Try Swept Away! Beth O’Leary. I’m loving it. I hate that you have had trouble but it will be solved with one good book!
I like the idea of you going to library on a Monday after school.
Oh yeah – the burning of the dress! You’ve had a long time to think about it and you still want to do it so no regrets!

  5. We were in the water a good chunk of the weekend as it was hot here too. Your bathroom is pretty and I realized this weekend I should replace some bathroom rugs too. I have two books due on Wednesday and am hoping to finish at least one. I hate when I have to take one back I want to read, but they were short loans and can’t be renewed. Have a nice week!

    1. Your weekend looked divine! Well, except for the rain, but honestly, I would love a good rain here. It’s been a long time! I think rugs have a shelf life. I couldn’t believe how long we had the basement bathroom rugs. I don’t use that bathroom so I don’t think of it often. I was a little afraid the washer would hurt the pink rugs but they did just fine and then I line dried them.
I I hate that, too. We don’t have any library fines anymore in my county but I still try to get it back close to the date.

  6. It still looks like summer here but the leaves are changing already!
Yay to Happy Hour! That martini looks so good.
Your bathrooms are fab! I love that shower curtain!
We have that fan!! It rarely gets used by me as it’s so powerful, my fella keeps it in the garage to use out there when he’s working.

  7. I am still trying to get out to walk once a day. Ugh.That Jeni’s Gooey Butter Cake is the best ice cream there is.Blue Bell makes a version but it’s not as rich.

    I have similar bathmats!

  8. Temperatures took a dip here after we had some rain on Friday. The AC kicked on later in the afternoon, but it wasn’t too bad outside when we were running errands around lunchtime on Saturday. Your cocktail reminds me of a Huckleberry Lemondrop (Heritage Distilling Co. Huckleberry Vodka / Triple Sec / Lemon) that I had recently. So delicious! Those onion feathers look to die for! A much more manageable way to eat the onion blossom they used to have (was it at Outback Steakhouse – ours has long since closed). I love it when the fall scents start coming out. Must make a trip to Bath & Body Works to pick up a candle or two or three! I’ve ordered a couple of Christmas books, I need to look around for a few fall ones.

  9. Yes, come on fall! Jeni’s ice cream is soo good! Okay, your bathrooms are so nice and beautiful! I was reminded you had those renovated in the last several years, is that right? Girl, until more leaves fall, keep that ice cream and a/c nearby! 🙂

    1. Or, at least fall like weather! I think I am getting highs in the 70s soon! But, I know that won’t be the end of the heat. I don’t think I had ever had Jeni’s! Thank you so much – I am still very happy with the colors and decor I picked out so that makes me happy because I don’t think I’m great at decor. Yes, the hall is only a bit over a year old. Mine is about 3 years old.

  10. I clicked on your post because yesterday at church I was telling everyone that AC was one of our biggest blessings that we often overlook! It’s just SO hot outside!!! Your onion petals look amazing, yum! Also, I was super excited to have the fall Meyers scents released but SUPER disappointed that our Target didn’t have them! I tend to get one that each of us like for our bathrooms and I was able to pick up Clementine for my son, but Fall Leaves is my personal fav and they didn’t have it at all! It still feels like summer.. but I am so ready for fall! Hope you have a great week!!!

    1. Welcome and thanks for clicking! It really is! Love onion petals and the sauce, too! Shoot! My Target had the fall leaves, but I had never heard of the Clementine. I am partial to acorn spice. It’s like fall in a scent to me. I won’t let myself use it for a long time. I have had to order them on Target.com before.

  11. It looks like such a good weekend. The A/C and reading look wonderful. We were outside quite a bit in Auburn this weekend, but it felt pretty good compared to Houston humidity! Hope your week is off to a good start.

    1. It was chill! Get it? That’s great when Auburn is actually cooler! Lol! My friend’s daughter just went back to Auburn Friday with her horse. She is on the equestrian team.
