It’s Thursday and it’s fashion day with Kellyann and Jill!

Are you just giddy for spring clothing like I am?

I bagged up two trash bags this weekend of spring stuff that no longer fits my style or looks too worn, pilled, or dated. I thanked the pieces for their service – some had served me for close to a decade – and didn’t give them another thought.

Before you start spring shopping, you should do this, too!

Then, look at Pinterest or Google images for inspo. Look at the mall. See what’s on trend and what’s for sale. Look at catalogs. Look at ads.

What do you like? What do you already have? What fits your lifestyle? Be true to yourself in terms of colors and patterns, too. I am such a pattern person, but I have realized the need for solids in my wardrobe.

I use my job as a testing ground for my outfits. If something doesn’t work when I try it on in the morning or I come to a realization after wearing it for a full day, I put it in the donate pile.

Last week I decided to have “blouse week” due to our wonderful 60s-70s temps.

You saw Monday and Tuesday outfits last week.

Here is Wednesday – this blouse is a fun print from TJ Maxx. I actually saw this print still available on the clearance rack in January. I wore it with pull on black dress pants and my new Target Mary Janes. I look very “teacher-y”.

Here is Thursday – another TJ Maxx top – knit in the middle with sheer floral sleeves. I wore it with my light Halaras and my Stan Smiths. I’ve gotten away from long necklaces, but I liked this Kendra Scott with it.

And, Thursday after school I went to Aerie. I had two things in my online cart and decided to just go in store and try on and feel the material. What a concept! Can we sing praise for in store shopping, try ons, and no returns needed? No waiting for Mr. UPS to show up? It was great. I got this butter yellow dressed up sweatshirt and immediately wore it the next day. I love yellow!

I also got this button up:

I didn’t wear it yet; this was just a try on. I put it over my new Old Navy graphic tee that kind of fits the fisherman core aesthetic. Lol.

Saturday for work day at my parents’ house…

Black short sleeve with black knit cardigan and the leggings that Jenn found from Walmart a couple of years ago. I copied off of her.

Monday for school. Meh. Donating these jeans. They stretched as day wore on. The whole outfit is just meh.

Tuesday I wore my Target blouse that Tanya found a few years ago. I am such a copy cat! I wore my light Halaras and my green Vejas.

I’m not cool enough for these…

So, that’s it. What have you been wearing?

I have been thinking a lot about what my retirement wardrobe will look like!

Amy

  1. My wardrobe consists of mainly solid print (or maybe stripes) tops in neutral colors! (Maybe its vanillaness is one of the reasons I don’t do fashion posts, lol!) I like the bold prints on you and others but they’re something that I don’t tend to gravitate towards. Your “meh” outfit is something that I would be likely to wear :). I like how we are all different with preferences that perhaps match our personalities (for example, I’m an introvert- I’m quiet by nature so maybe I like “quiet” clothes like neutral colors and prints because they match my personality?)?

  2. Loving your green and you are totally cool enough for those shoes!

I really like what you got at Aerie! The first outfit is my favorite, look so cool and comfy.

I like trying on clothes in store but I also love being able to try them at home and decide what if I really need to keep or return. When I am in store I get all kinds of excited and have a hard time saying no! It’s good to do a bit of both for me – online and instore.

You remain the Queen of the Halaras!!!

  3. I love all your looks! I forgot about those leggings and need to pull mine out again. I’m in need of more leggings! I wear them all the time now that I’ve lost twenty one pounds and all I have are black and the ones you have. I looked at Walmart last weekend, but didn’t see any. I also bought a couple of graphic tees last weekend and thought of you! They’re summery, so I’m excited to wear them.

  4. Love the new yellow tops you got! I picked up a few things thrifting this week and only spent $11.17 for 4 items including a pair of Old Navy NWT navy slip ons! Already have worn them twice. I am actually stopping my target this morning to try on white pants: I want to replace an old pair I donated, linen wide leg type… Tried two pairs yesterday, no gos so going back to try the other two I saw. Otherwise, I have a little list to look for while thrifting, a white maxi. I did find a fun pair of orange straight leg jeans!

  5. I agree on the in-shop-shopping being an easy way of shopping! It doesn’t feel long ago that online-shopping was not a thing! But I had the best experience this Christmas with boots that I bought online for my daughter; I bought three different sizes on three different occasions, sent them back without charges, money back quickly… The only negative was that the company used that pricing system that fluctuates all the time! Thankfully the correct size was the cheapest one! πŸ˜€

  6. I am quite the opposite in that I have many solids and I’m trying to remember to buy more prints! I tried making it a blouse week but it’s been cold and by mid-day I’m adding scarves and sweaters and all the layers again.

    1. same for me! I will occasionally buy a print top but then I don’t wear it. Dresses are the exception, I wear them almost exclusively in the summer and I’ll buy prints there. Amy, I love all these outfits. I’m in desperate need of a shopping spree – I am hard to fit so do almost all of my shopping in person – I hate doing on line returns for some reason πŸ˜‰

Also, my part time job is hand pouring candles for a local small business – I’m always in studio so have gotten lazy about dressing – work clothes for me now are joggers and tshirts ;(

  7. Hahaha! I loved the “I’m not cool enough for these” because I feel that way with sneakers, too, of all things! I have already taken three big bags to a friend as well as a huge bag to the consignment store. It feels so good, but I still have a lot. I hadn’t heard of that fisherman core until you mentioned it. Now, I’m seeing it all over! Right now, I’ve been having some lazy days so I’m wearing joggers and a long sweatshirt from Old Navy!
