It’s Monday and that means link up time with Sarah and Holly. Let’s talk about our weekend. It’s hard to believe that we only have two more before the holiday. I am not trying to make anyone nervous! I really should be the nervous one – but only about gifts. I think I have my list made and I know what I am ordering. The local shops and in person purchases I can wait on.

Friday night Tom and I went out! We ate frozen pizza at home with bagged Caesar salad – really just so we wouldn’t have to leave Eddie Otis for as long. The kids had their own fun plans so it was just us. We left the house at 7:15 and stayed out until 10:30. We went to a new to us place to hear some live music! The place was so cool – The Whirling Tiger. The music space was awesome and I had splurged and gotten us a high top table but most people had to stand.

The person we went to see is a singer and a cellist and had like nine more people up on stage with him and it was so good. I have liked him for a long time and seen him perform before and now I teach his kid! My student was working the merch(andise), too!

The bar looked like your Grandma’s 70s living room decorated for Christmas. They had a fun holiday cocktail menu and I got a “Nice List” which was an adult Capri Sun drink. There was also a “Naughty List” and it was some red drink.

Some views of the bar:

See the menu that looks like a wrapped present? Isn’t that cute?

I ran into someone the next day who thought she saw me there, too, and she told me there was a second floor to the bar that is even better (decorated for the holidays) but costs $10 to go up and she said it was totally worth it.

Saturday I went to my school for their huge holiday halls craft fair.

These ladies were lining up to buy wooden reindeer with curly antlers. The lady in the photo had so many. I guess they were all the rage. I only left with a candle and a car air freshener.

At 4:30, I met Erica at a really cool place that was new to me called NEAT. Tom was happy to sit in his chair and watch all the tv while I went out.

It was so cool and also decorated for the holidays. We had a drink and chatted and then went to our staff holiday party at a karaoke place called Akiko’s a couple of doors down. I had been there once a long time ago.

I only took a few photos right when I got there but it was a pretty good turnout and I stayed until about 8:30. It was from 5:30-9 and then opened to the public. We had pizza and bar snacks and we could sing as many songs as we wanted for free. I sang “Feliz Navidad” with the Spanish teachers who came, Pink’s “Raise Your Glass” with Erica and Dolly Parton’s “Working 9 to 5” with Erica but we changed it to “Working 8:30 to 3:30”. We signed up our principal for “Smoking in the Boy’s Room” but he declined. lol.

I just felt so happy to live where I live. We have some cool places! I got to experience two new to me places this weekend which I love.

Friday night outfit:

I bought two sequin skirts from Old Navy about a month ago – black and silver. They weren’t cheap (for me) at $40 each. I decided to keep both because they are elastic waist and the perfect length and they make me happy. Friday night I wore my Christmas tree button sweater. I think black underneath would have been better. My boots are very old suede from Target and they are comfortable. They are a bit of a Western vibe. I also have them in tan.

Saturday night outfit:

Same boots, silver skirt, black tee, new Target sweater, new Amazon headband, new Amazon earrings. The sweater was only $23 when I ordered it, but now it’s up to $32, sadly.

I bought one other sweater from Target that says “Merry and Bright”.

I am going to try not to buy any other holiday attire!

Eddie Otis did not approve of my holiday reading this weekend. I left the living room for a few minutes while he was asleep.

Well, he woke up…

Now I must go to the library and hang my head in shame and buy a new copy for them – at the very least.

So, I started this…

I liked this…

Hmmmm…

We have 10 more days of school that include 2 five day weeks, midterms, final semester grades, spreading of germs, holiday merriment, and who knows what else.

So, tell me a highlight of your weekend!

Amy

  1. What a fun weekend – love the new skirts! Wow, Old Navy did a nice jo on those!

I just love when bars and restaurants are all decked out for the holidays. Looks like a great place for a staff party!

And EO and that book – oh my. When Sophie was a puppy she chewed on a book of Nolan’s – it was from his teacher’s library and I had to contact her and tell her that it wasn’t a lie, that yes, our dog literally ate Nolan’s homework!

  2. What a festive weekend. I love your Saturday night fit. I “channeled” my inner you and said “yes” to a couple of things and broke up my weekend a bit. I went to my school’s happy hour. I only had an hour to spare, so I almost didn’t go, but it was fun. Saturday, I met a friend and went to two holiday fairs to pick up a few gifts. EO ! Homer did that once, and the library lady laughed and didn’t charge me 😂

    1. Thank you! It was pretty crazy! yay – so fun! I think it helps to see people you work with in a different light sometimes – within reason.

  3. I love that quote at the end! Look at you going out at 7:15 in a sequin skirt! That sounds so fun and especially to discover 2 new places. I think cool spots like those are so pretty during the holiday time. Hope it is a good Monday for you!

  4. I love a sequin anything and the headband looks so cute too! The book-ackkk! Every dog has his thing. Ours will still snatch a paper napkin off your lap if you’re not paying attention and he’s nine and otherwise very well behaved. We love live music and the venue looks fun. Karaoke with coworkers-how brave lol! Sounds like a fun weekend! Hang in there…that holiday break is almost here!

  5. I love that silver sequin skirt outfit! What a fun weekend you had. I love trying new places, too, and always feel glad to be able to do that. I’m going somewhere new for my birthday this weekend and am so excited about it! It’s a restaurant on the town square, and then I want pictures with all of us with the Christmas lights. I’m excited! I planned the whole thing and invited my best friends.

  6. My daughter said Yes to the Dress! It was such a fun experience to go with her and try on dresses. I cried when she came out in her first dress! I didn’t realize how emotional it would be. Her sister/MOH was in Vancouver BC for the last Taylor Swift concert so she couldn’t be there but we FaceTime with her and it was just a great day!

  7. It sounds like such a fun weekend. You definitely live in a very cool area! We don’t have anything like that out here in the ‘burbs. Of course, there are places like that “in town,” but that would involve a 45 minute drive! We had our company party Saturday night, and definitely kept track of our time out of the house with Mollie at home! So funny /not funny about EO and the book! Hope you have a great week.

  8. I had to giggle when I saw your two sequined skirts. I ordered the black one in the maxi and mini lengths. The next day, they were half price so I ordered them again! I only kept the maxi because the minis just didn’t look near as good on me as they do on you! I miss school hall fairs! There was a school several miles from our house that had an annual Christmas fair…you had to wait in line to even get in the door. We went a couple of times and decided nothing was worth that wait! We had a dog who ate an insurance form…I had to call them and tell them (and it was teacher’s insurance) my dog ate my homework…I mean form! I sure do wish my town had as much going on as yours does!
