Can I just say Friday and be done? Ha! I am linking up with Andrea and Erika today for what will be a pretty short post!

How are you, though? I hope you had a week full of things that made you smile.

It has been a nice weather week here! The sun has been shining in through my classroom windows and the leaves are starting to show their colors.

August, September, and October are hard core in the teaching world. Admin is still asking for extra documentation and extra work and we are still training our classes on routines and procedures. It’s also testing season and our classes were interrupted twice this week for ACT and PSAT. I have lost my planning period 3 times this week and it just makes for a long week.

I finally got over my jet lag after two weeks! I felt normal this week. I have never taken an international trip and gone straight into teaching. I have always had at least a week off after returning. Man, it kicked my butt this time. I am thankful I felt great while there, but after is when I seriously felt so tired at the end of the school day it was like I had been drugged! If you don’t know what I’m talking about, here is my Spain post!

Let’s talk about coffee! I am using the traditional coffee pot; it’s a Cuisinart given to me by my sister in law. She has tried them all and this was a reject. It has a grinder, but I don’t grind my beans.

I have been using this Kroger medium roast and it’s really good! I am feeling so happy and seasonal with my pumpkin spice creamer.

It’s “full-bodied and enticing” so I guess I relate.

I still have and use my Nespresso Vertuo and Mason uses it. We think Mason is very sensitive to caffeine so we got some decaf pods on Amazon and I often have one in the afternoon, too. I love having a hot drink in the afternoon or evening!

And, it’s time for my apple cider sangria. I plan to make some this weekend. Here is my staged photo I was kind of proud of!

I need new slippers! This is what I am thinking:

The Bomba Saturday slipper. Anyone have them? Or, I am open to other recs! I have been a slipperless gal since my last ones that weren’t that good died on me. I went from Uggs to Amazon. The Uggs lasted like 10 years and the Amazon like 2 years.

I had the cutest thing happen this week. I am “friends” on Facebook with the kennel where we got Eddie Otis and on Tuesdays they do “Tongue Out Tuesday” where you post a pic of your puppy with their tongue out.

This is Eddie Otis’ brother Rowdy and his mom and I messaged about how each of them are doing!

And, here is Eddie Otis:

I think Eddie Otis has shorter ears? His mom said he is the exact weight as EO!

Look how cute! I have actually already ordered my chili and mummy dog fixings for Halloween, but I might add this.

Did you see my Fall List check in? I hope to do some fall things this weekend!

Happy Friday!

Amy

  1. I remember my jet lag being worse when coming home from France rather than going there too but when we went out west we all struggled more while on vacation than coming home. I tend to like the gripper/slipper style of slippers but always look for slippers with a “real” bottom sole since I am so awful about wearing them around the yard/driveway.

  2. Glad you are feeling back to yourself this week. I have one or two late or sleepless nights & it sets me back! I have a pair of slippers I bought several years ago from Amazon and I rotate between those and some I got at Loft, I think. Enjoy your weekend!

  3. EO is getting so big, I can hardly believe it! Love that picture of his brother Rowdy, so sweet.

I need to grab the ingredients to make your ‘fall in a cup’ as I call it! Hopefully I can enjoy that this weekend.

    Have a great weekend!

      1. Sometimes I do but I have to tell you that I love sleeping in on the weekends and I don’t miss the guilt I felt leaving my sweet Sophie home by herself when we’d be gone. It’s a mixed bag of emotions for sure.

  4. o just got a new pair of Ugg slippers on Monday while at the coast. You just slide your feet in. I had purchased amazon knock offs last week and there is no comparison. I’m giving my amazon ones to thrift store. I have Bombas slippers too but no support and i don’t like the grippers on the bottom. Have a great weekend!

  5. Teaching does sound like hard work at this time of year! It’s a good job your jet lag has worn off, it sounds like a challenging time.
Oh wow! Apple cider sangria sounds amazing! Perfect for this time of year.

  6. I’m glad you finally feel normal this week after your trip to Spain. I’m sure that was rough! I’m not a slipper type of person; I wear slides around the house when it’s not cold, but when the temps really drop, I wear some fuzzy slippers and socks on the extra cold nights. My sister bought me some from Amazon a few years ago, and I’m still wearing them. My all time favorites, though, are the slippers that the Ugg ones. They’re the most comfortable I’ve ever had! I love that picture of EO’s mom! Your picture of the ingredients for your fall cocktail is great!

  7. Jetlag was no joke this time around! I can’t imagine going straight to work after that big trip. Grace has some Bombas slippers that look like little socks. They are called gripper slippers, but not sherpa lined. She really likes them! Have you seen the Walmart dupes for Ugg slippers? I think they are pretty nice. Hope you have a good weekend.

  8. It’s weird because I have never had jet lag coming home, but this time I was wiped out for about two weeks! Love the photo of Eddie Otis’ brother! I bought a pair of Dearfoam slippers two winters ago, and they’re still going strong. They’re the mule kind, though. My feet get cold and stay cold, so I try to wear slippers or wool socks.

  9. I always have a cup of tea around 3 pm this time of year. In the warm weather I have iced coffee. There’s a slump for me at that time of day and this helps. I’ll have to try the cider sangria. Sounds good! I haven’t tried the Bomba slippers but I love their socks. They live up to their billing so I feel like the slippers would too. Have a nice weekend!

  10. I can’t imagine teaching with jetlag! It’s such a demandingly “on” job. Hope next week will be better. I just stopped using the Vertuo for every day too -sooo insanely expensive and bad for the environment too, even though they recycle. I just go the Simply Good coffeemaker, which is a cheaper version of the Moccamaster – the jury is still out
