Happy Friday! I am linking up with Andrea and Erica for the favorite post of the week – Friday Favorites.

How was your week? I hope it was great! We had pretty fall-like weather here and some really cold mornings!

Here are some things that made me smile, made my life easier, or made me happy this week!

I made my breakfast sandwiches and it really helped. I don’t teach until 9:30 so my routine is to put it on a paper plate and microwave it while I do some work.

I discovered a new flavor and a new cracker and I must share. This is a great little after school snack.

I don’t like nuts but I do like these crackers!

One night I made a piece of salmon in the oven and it turned out great.

After Spain, I was happy to visit the library and get a book on hold and find a free magazine in the magazine bin.

And, then I picked up this book because I love to add a little non-fiction to my reading repertoire and these kinds of books inspire me.

I have been keeping my new Barcelona leather purse inside my backpack for school and then taking it out when I go somewhere that isn’t school. I am really glad I bought it. I wish I had gotten myself a coffee mug. Would it be weird to just order one now that I am home?

All things pumpkin! I am really enjoying my brewed coffee pot coffee with this in it. I only have Nespresso pods that are decaf right now and I enjoyed having one in the afternoon after school one or two days this week!

This week it finally happened. It was so cold one morning I had to stay inside. I have had my coffee outside every single day since school started until this week. I think we have just had a very cold week, but it should get a little warmer before this cold stays.

And, turning on the lights makes it more appealing! I also did it one evening this week.

The reason I have been so adamant about being outside is because of this guy:

Look at the teeth!

I think the more time outside the better for him. He has more to look at and more to chew on. He’s still not very independent and wants us outside with him. We spend about an hour outside in the morning and about an hour outside after school.

I walked to school a couple of days this week…

I was so happy to bring out this favorite jacket, too.

And, I was happy to see leaves beneath my feet.

Samba Stretch!

Bahahaha! I will let you know how it works for me as mine are currently in the freezer. I just need a little more toe room. Less than half a size! We will see!

Eddie Otis and I saw some decor in the neighborhood that was very seasonal and the neighbor’s ex-husband who doesn’t live there has started using his leaf blower for hours on end and is still blowing in the dark as I type this on Thursday night. Have I told you my theory? He goes in to Home Depot and says, “give me the loudest one you’ve got”.

I just thought of a positive to January! There won’t be any leaf blower noise!

And, I had to take over the early morning walk but I was treated to a sky full of stars!

Tom was gone from Tuesday early morning until late Thursday night for a work training. I know that doesn’t seem like much, but I missed him and his contributions/help with Eddie Otis! Luckily the kids helped a lot!

I got to have happy hour with my friend Victoria yesterday, too, and we hadn’t seen each other since summer!

I cut up a green apple and enjoyed it with these little caramel packs.

Erica made us chili for lunch one day at school and I made us potato soup one day. Soup season!

What made you smile this week?

Thanks for reading,

Amy

  1. That salmon looks so good! I say order the coffee cup! It is like you ordered it there and they shipped it to you :). I am so glad to eat soup with our cooler weather! I hope we do keep it at fall temps a little longer and don’t jump right into winter. Have a good weekend!

    1. Good point! I will look for one!

The salmon was so good! I used salt and some of the Trader Joe’s salmon rub and then olive oil and lemon juice.
I want to start Soup Sundays!

  2. Eddie Otis is getting so big! I noticed how much he has grown in one of your other posts this week and forgot to mention it.

I love the pretty leaves! We don’t have those here so I get so excited when I see that someone else does, fall is just so pretty.

Hope you have a great weekend!

    1. He is! he is in need of getting fixed but Tom wants to wait four months! I don’t know if I can take it. it really is one of my fave things about where i live – all 4 seasons.

  3. Eddie Otis is so cute! It’s been cold here too and I am not ready for this. I’m curious why, if he doesn’t live there anymore, is the ex-husband back to use the leaf blower? They are loud and annoying! Have a good weekend!

    1. We can’t figure it out! We think maybe he is getting paid by his ex in laws? The kids don’t live there any more. It’s just the weirdest situation. We don’t think he or the wife really work.

  4. Yes, you should buy the mug!

Me thinks, YOU NEED TO TREAT YOURSELF MORE! You work very hard, so evrn thinking about spending $10 on a mug is a no brainer! Or, (take yourself out to lunch, drink) more!!

    Have a great weekend!

  5. I think you should definitely order you a coffee mug from Spain! It doesn’t matter if you’re not there now, since you were just there and forgot. I also love your new bag! I’m glad you treated yourself. Did Tom buy himself anything? I liked hearing about the gifts for the guys, too. Something that made me smile was talking to my neighbors in their yard on Wednesday. We have found ourselves without leaf blowers (they’re both at Graham’s house) and when they saw me come out with a broom to start sweeping grass clippings, Patrick ran inside to grab their blower. I thought that was so nice! Someone whose name isn’t worthy of being mentioned always hated him and said terrible things about him, but it turns out he was wrong. He’s the nicest man, and so is his wife! It’s the nameless one who was a jerk. Good riddance to him!

Sorry to end that way, but it’s the truth. Thanks for letting me vent! Happy Friday to you, sweet friend! I have plans this weekend that would make you so proud.

    1. Isn’t that interesting the things you keep learning and realizing? He was probably threatened by how nice the guy is and he had to be the big man or the nicest? Idk. I’m projecting.
I can’t wait to hear what you are doing!!!!

  6. Your breakfast sandwich looks so good and what a good idea to take it to work.
I do love that cheese and it sounds like the crackers go so well with it.
    That purse is gorgeous!
I have been staying inside on a morning too as it’s so chilly, we had frost on the ground earlier on in the week. Eek!
Ahh! We have a neighbour like yours who I am sure has found the loudest tools ever! Lawnmowers, leaf blowers and saws! I am glad when it rains and he doesn’t go outside. So annoying!

    1. It really is! I am going to change it up this week and go back to turkey sausage and low carb breakfast casserole though. i need to do burritos after that.
      Great snack!
      i love the purse!
i know – sad, but i am probably going to be insdie more than out now.
yes! I am glad I am not the only one. Every time i go to sit outside. There’s no pattern but it is just when i want quiet.

  7. Buy yourself the mug, it’s not weird to buy it when you are home and it will bring you great memories! I bought shoe stretchers from Amazon and the work great! It seems almost every pair of shoes I buy I have to stretch them in the toes or in the length a little. Maybe I just have weird feet! Enjoy your weekend.

    1. I have been given the green light by my blogger friends! i didn’t even think of buying an actual shoe stretcher. i think people can be between sizes for sure.

  8. I was looking for those nutty crackers today! They are supposed to be fairly healthy as far as crackers go. I have absolutely bought myself souvenirs online after a trip so I say go for it.

  9. Twinkle lights make everything homier. I love them too. Our neighborhood has a ‘rule’ about leaf blowers/construction/etc…nothing before 8 am or after 7 pm. It helps! Definitely get the mug. It will still be a sweet reminder of your travels.

  10. I think you should buy the mug. Every time you use it, you’ll be reminded of this special trip. I’m slowly getting rid of the plants on the back patio. It looks so lonesome and neglected. But, I was also ready for the ferns to be gone, too.

  11. Your food looks delish! So neat that you can walk to school! I love your new bag. It’s perfect. I hope you have a great weekend. One thing that made me smile was last night the whole family went to the school’s soccer game. Of course, the kids hung with friends but I was happy that we wanted to go to this high school event 🙂
