It’s Thursday and time for Fashion Files with Jill and Kellyann.

It’s summer again here! It’s been in the mid-high 80s lately. I feel a bit weird wearing too much white or too summery clothing after Labor Day even though I know it’s no longer taboo. Do you?

I have a student who works at one of my consignment stores and she gave me a $5 coupon so I went in and bought two graphic tees – one that says Paris (J.Crew) and one that says Nashville. I also bought a Target red twist front tee that I thought would be a good solid.

I told you I was going to try to take classroom photos! Here is the Nashville tee and I am holding a cookie to say thank you to a friend for giving it to me. This is my first time breaking out the Matilda Janes and they are so cool (temperature) and comfortable. I don’t love this, but I was comfy.

When I was visiting my mom in my hometown, I went in the cutest boutique and bought a new dress and a new top. I was not planning on it, but I loved them.

Here is the dress:

One day last week I wore this TJ Maxx blouse with my gauzy pants and my Stan Smiths:

Here is what I wore Saturday to shop in the little boutique and to visit my mom:

And, here is the top I bought at the boutique:

The top is bright and cheery and feels very me. Yeah, remember when I said I want more neutrals? The heart wants what it wants.

And, look at my online splurge!

I was trying them out to make sure I got the right size. They are so comfortable! I guess I have learned I’m not a platform shoe girl. I think everyones’ feet are just so different, you know?

Also, my legs are really tan because of Loving Tan. I put on one or two rubber gloves to apply it (I didn’t buy the mitt) and it’s pretty amazing what only a very small amount of the mousse can do. I bought the medium shade.

I like my outfits a lot more this week! Also, I am getting ruthless in my closet. If I didn’t wear it this summer, it is going. It’s hard but I think it is worth it and will make me feel that I have a lot more to choose from and I will be able to see my things!

This is a hard time of year to get dressed. I am looking at my dresses, skirts, and my short sleeve or long sleeve but light weight blouses right now.

What about you? What have you been wearing?

Amy

  1. Those new pieces are fabulous! I struggle to put outfits together this time of year without feeling frumpy since I often feel like I need to throw a cardigan over whatever I’m wearing. Looks like our 80 degree days are over it’s only supposed to be in the 60’s for the next 7 days… which I’m both happy and sad about. It will make it easier to dress but oh I am going to miss those warm, sunny days.

    1. Thank you! I know – I get that. I usually think a cardigan adds to an outfit and then I take it off at school and it doesn’t look as good, though. I have mixed feelings, too. If we could just have 70s for awhile?

  2. the boutique dress looks amazing on you. I have been on the fence about a pair of adidas. When I was in school the ‘adidas” had an acronym. All day I dream about sex. I am 47 and still have not forgotten that. But any rate I have been looking at them. Keep us posted if they different from the Gazelle.

    1. Aww, thank you. I have never heard of that! How funny! I think the sizing and fit is a bit different. I tried on the Gazelles at Dick’s Sporting Goods if you have one. Also, try kids sizes to save money.

  3. Did you see that Ulta had Loving Tan for $20 the other day? It was part of their 21 days of beauty. It wasn’t the 2 hr express but it was still a good deal if you like LT.

I like the top and dress you got in the boutique! You are a bright and cheery person and your fashion reflects that! Love your new sneakers too!

    1. No way! What a deal! Thank you! Aww! So as much as I want to be neutral, I’m just not?
I couldn’t respond on your blog last two times I tried bc Disqus hates me and I hate Disqus. I love your new Mary Janes! They look so good on you! Very Parisian!

  4. I have been able to wear some jeans this week as long as they are not too tight so I don’t overheat! It is fun to start wearing some different combos, but it is definitely still short sleeves for me. I really like all of these prints: so pretty and happy! I did do an online order for a lounge set, I got it in 2 sizes to see which I like best if any… don’t doing perfect for my no shop, oops! But it’s my birthday month…

    1. Yes! I get that! It really is. Same for me. I can wear a cardi over it in the morning. I really want a lounge set but sometimes I need separates because top half bigger.

  5. Great outfits, and I love your two new purchases! I’m going to remember about that Loving Tan; I often won’t wear dresses in the fall/winter because of how pale my legs are, and I have a great pair of tall boots now that I can wear with shorter dresses!

    1. Thank you! I spent more than I wanted to, but also maybe that means they will last longer and I will love them longer. Aren’t graphic tees fun? Yes – works so well!

  6. Oh, you look fantastic in that dress as well as the top you bought at the boutique! I have tried to be a neutral girl, but the colors just come out! I like your Stan Smiths and wish I had those instead of the green ones! I do like bling! I keep checking Poshmark for the Matilda Janes but no luck so far! One of these days, I’ll find the perfect ones!

    1. Aww, thank you Marsha. It’s nice to see you getting outfit pics on your porch again. Hopefully that means hub is doing better. Same! I like the green, too. Mason had green before his current pair. Shoot! I really want you to find some.
