Did you survive the 4th? I am happy to link up with Andrea and Erika today to share some favorites of the week!

As usual, my favorites are all over the place, but hopefully there is a little something for everyone! And if there isn’t, I guess my blog isn’t for you! What is wrong with me lately?

Here we go…

I was able to find this creamer again and I love it! It’s so summery tasting to me. I have tried to quit creamer, but I just can’t. I don’t use any sweetener in my coffee besides this, so that’s good, right? I finally changed the batteries in my frother and boy am I frothy again.

I tackled my Tupperware! I am doing a declutter challenge, in case you haven’t heard. What do you call these containers? I guess I call all of them Tupperware like I call all bandages Band-Aid. I am more likely to call all soft drinks Coke, too. We actually have a Tupperware brand store in Louisville. I love these meal prep containers, but should I be using Pyrex or glass? I just don’t see me transporting those to school.

I’m enjoying my three little Trader Joe’s candles. This raspberry and roses is my fave. I love their cute little tins, too.

Mason and I took an hour road trip to see my family and I enjoyed our conversation – especially on the way home. Mason was feeling quite chatty. Eddie Otis was so good in the car and here he is on my mom’s porch:

Do not buy these if you don’t want to eat too many! So good! They remind me of a candy from my childhood, too, but I can’t think of what it was – maybe those peanut shaped candies that were flaky and had peanut butter? My Dad loved peanut butter and so do I. My Dad used to say that it didn’t get much better than peanut butter on a saltine cracker. He used to eat them in front of his radio shows and that was when saltines came with four crackers attached in a tin can. My blog is so weird. You just never know where my brain is going to take you.

I enjoyed some patio reading time this week. I find that even in the 90s it doesn’t feel that bad under my patio overhang. I’m so lucky to have a fan, too.

My style this summer has been graphic tees or dresses. I realized what trend I apparently am following:

It’s called Surfer Nephew:

There’s Coastal Grandmother, Coastal Aunt, and now Surfer Nephew. Ummmmkayyyy…

Who comes up with this stuff? I guess Alison Bornstein who I follow on Instagram.

I bore myself by how much I talk about the grocery. But, I received this email:

Thanks, Walmart Plus! I have saved 3 hours and $49 apparently? So, this week I had a Walmart delivery and I went to Trader Joe’s for just a few things.

This is cute:

I was able to watch it one afternoon this week while Eddie Otis was napping. Have you seen it on Netflix?

I am trying to watch this but it’s got some weird fantasy elements so it’s not holding my attention that well. It’s on Prime.

I just started this:

Our 4th was weird. Tom was technically off but went to the office for a few hours and then Home Depot.

I wanted to go to a market and it was a bust. It was supposed to start at 10 and we got there at 11 and it wasn’t set up. It might have been pushed back for our yucky weather?

Anyway, we went in the food hall and got some donuts and sat outside and had a few bites!

For lunch, I made us Jimmy John’s (fake) with the day old bread I had gotten on Wednesday.

I froze most of it!

I am really into veggie sandwiches with this cream cheese as a base. I just pile on the veg and it’s so good to me!

I got to read on the patio but soon heard thunder!

And, it stormed and stormed for a few hours. Then, the storms brought even more humidity! Oh well!

I let myself order two books and spent some time reading them yesterday:

They are really short and just for fun. I love stuff like this and my library didn’t have them. Get ready to see me turn into the most Chic Summer European Amy you’ve ever seen! Ha! Wait, can I be Chic if I’m a Surfer Nephew? Ok, I will be the most Chic European Summer Surfer Nephew you’ve ever encountered. I’ve got my work cut out for me.

Happy Friday!

Amy

  1. I remember those peanut butter candies you’re talking about; those were so good! I enjoyed Family Affair on Netflix too and thought it was cute. We also had a stormy and rainy afternoon yesterday and it was so humid out by dinner that we couldn’t see out most of our windows since they had completely fogged up. We did get to see some fireworks around the lake since it cleared up slightly by bedtime. But it’s raining again today.

    1. Right? They melt in your mouth. I thought it was cute, too!
It was so gross yesterday! I heard fireworks in my neighborhood but stayed inside – not a great holiday, but oh well!

  2. Hubs and I watched A Family Affair and thought it was cute. Alyssa and I are watching the DCC show- we have one episode left and are enjoying it. Eeks with the weather- everyone´s 4th plans here were almost derailed- it rained almost all morning but then rallied and was decent the rest of the day (using the word ¨decent¨ loosely). Your covered porch with a fan look like a great place to read!

    1. Zac Efron doesn’t hurt either! Ha! Really enjoying DCC too and new respect for the team.
Our weather was all over the place and all I know is that the humidity is now horrible and the mosquitos are too!

  3. I love the look of that creamer.
We have tons of those containers, we get them from the Chinese takeaway and seem to be collecting them. A few are handy but we don’t need as many as we have. lol
Those peanut butter pillows look so good. I love anything with peanut butter.

    1. It’s really good and I’m not that big of a coconut fan besides a cocktail with it? I get that! I had to recycle a bunch of them but I like to keep that cheaper kind on hand to give people food without them needing to return it to me.
They are so good but now they are gone so I have no more temptation!

  4. I hope you know by now, I love your blog! Candles from Trader Joe’s are one my favorite things there. I have heard about the DCC show and want to watch that at some point. I am trying to declutter here too and that is a big part of my plans for today. Even if I get a small sack of papers thrown away, I see it as progress. Those books look fun and look like a fun thing to display as well. Maybe I am the coastal great aunt?? It looks to be a little cooler here this week, so I welcome it for July.

    1. Aww, you are so sweet to say that!
I am out of my Bath and Body candle era – they seem so artificial now. I am into TJ’s and locally owned soy candle companies. I keep a candle on a melter in my classroom bc high school stink is real.
The DCC show sucked me in! I love how they change some of their hair colors but I also hate it bc the girls don’t have control.
The paper clutter is the worst and my hardest area. I haven’t even started to think about that.
I adored the books and enjoyed reading them for much of yesterday. I think Fiona and I think alike but she made money off of it!
I think you might be! Ha!
I hope it is here, too. The storms left us with a lot of humidity. I could hardly do my am on patio! Happy Friday!

We had beautiful views of the fireworks at the coast. And today the weather is lovely and we are heading to golf!! Happy Friday!!

That’s called a dirty soda and you can thank the Mormons!
Lol! Yea I am using too much as well. It’s humid and feels like an armpit here so surfer nephew clothing is the best for that!

  7. I haven’t seen that candle at TJ…but I guess I haven’t been there in a couple of weeks. Do you follow @betterwithchardonnay ? She’s so funny / cool. She’s has shared cute summer outfits with a slip and oversized graphic t . When you mentioned graphic t, it made me think of that.
Your food hall sounds cool. We don’t have one of those in Lex…well, not really. I guess there are a couple of things similar but one didn’t last long at the Summit area.

    1. It was in a 3 pack. I really like the copper color and will look for that again. I do follow her! Oh, I have a black slip skirt! There is apparently a big food hall in Indy if you ever go for an event. This one was small with only about 6 vendors.

  8. Surfer Nephew? I do love a graphic tee, but I’m not sure about the rest. I have scads of Bath & Body candles to burn through yet. But, I don’t think I’ve bought any in more than three years. I give them to my kids whenever they need some! Oh, gosh does that donut look good! I am going to look for those books cuz I need all the help I can get!

    1. Yes! Are you a surfer nephew? He he! I just heard a new fashion term, too – cottage core. I guess you dress like you live in a cottage? People tend to accumulate candles. I like to keep the B and B Stress Relief on a warmer in my classroom. The kids all comment on how good my room smells and how stress free they are – ha!
The books are really sweet. I really want to order more. I think you should just try one and see what you think of her advice.

  9. You make me laugh! I love your self deprecating style sense of humor, maybe because I have the same thing? I love those Fiona Ferris books! I bought one recently, too, and loved reading through it quickly. I always walk away inspired by her!

    1. I’m glad! I live to make people laugh! Aren’t her books great? They aren’t earth shattering theories, but you and I live like she does – always trying to get the joy or beauty out of the ordinary. I just feel inspired by her reminders.

  10. I haven’t heard the term surfer nephew – how funny!! Yes, who comes up with all these names??? Can’t wait to see what these books tell you.

Our 4th was much quieter than usual but we managed to have a good time. For years we’ve gotten together with our best friends and their kids but this year it was just the 4 parents – I almost said adults but the kids are all adults too!

    1. Right? I don’t know! So silly! These books are really great at helping you to eek the most out of a season, I think. Or, to help with attitude. I think you should try one. They are all pretty obvious things, but they reinforce the way you and I want to live, I think.
That can be fun, too! I know – so crazy!
