This is my second post of today so that I could link up with Jennifer for her new Share Your Shelf link up!

So, I almost exclusively use library books that are real books! My Kindle broke several years ago and I just went back to real books. I have saved so much money by using my library. I put in requests on the app on my phone and then go pick them up. Sometimes I browse the new releases while I’m there. I also love to have a non-fiction going at the same time as fiction. The money saved goes for new clothes and shoes!
I think we don’t change much as we get older. I still have the same hobbies that I did as a child. I loved to read, bake, be in nature, be creative and make up skits and songs. Hello – that is still me! I’ve always had that giddy feeling when I leave the library with a fresh stack of books.
I don’t worry about reading super intellectual books because reading is enjoyment and escape for me. With that said, I can’t read bad books or books that are written in short choppy sentences or that keep repeating details like I’m dumb. There are several popular authors that I just cannot read. I’m sorry to those of you that enjoy some of these authors.
My sweet spot is a chick lit book that is also funny. Sarah Adams is a new favorite author. Cara Bastone is new to me, too. I just finished this:

I just started this:

In my last library pick up:

I have quite an eclectic mix here!
I love to check out cookbooks because I don’t want the clutter and I would want to check it out before committing!
I read all year long, but I usually read 20-30 books in the summer. I also would call myself a “fair weather reader” because I read more outside than inside for some reason. I just love reading outside!
I read on every car trip my family took and my family knew that I was in my own world and wouldn’t respond if I was reading. They had to really get my attention to pull me away from the story. I love that I am a reader. My Dad also took a book everywhere and said that he could never be bored if he had a book. Awww!
What’s on your shelf?
Amy
I pretty much exclusively use my library to find books too; it’s VERY rare for me to buy any. I like to read a wide variety and used to make sure to check out one non-fiction with every batch of books but that’s something I’ve gotten away from and really need to get back to. I don’t mind reading sad books but I have to be in the right mood/frame of mind since I too use books for enjoyment and escape.

This is a fun link up! I love a book but my kindle is still the easiest way for me to read. When I have a book, it seems to take longer. In the summer, I think I read more actual books because I have time. With the kindle, I read more often because it’s handy.

Yes! I can see that. And, I thought about getting a new one because I can do library e books. I have looked at a paperwhite.

I also love using the library. Some of my fondest childhood memories are going to the library. I have a Kindle, but mainly use it when I travel. I will definitely check out Sarah Adams. I know you are looking forward to hours on the patio this summer spent reading! Thanks so much for linking up with Share Your Shelf! Tanya – TheOtherSide-oftheRoad.com

Me too! I have loved it since I was a child just like you. I think you read more serious and darker stuff than I do? I love a fun chick lit book. That said, I have loved some more serious books, too.

It basically says to do it. Lol! I wake up hungry usually. I am to the point where I love to be done eating by 6 pm and that is possible and then I don’t snack at night. I eat breakfast at 8. So, that is probably as good as it’s going to get for me?

I love this post because I love to read! Always! I read on my phone with the iCloud and Hoopla apps. I checked out The Little Cafe in Copenhagen after reading your post. I’m currently reading Brooklyn and will read Darling Girls soon. I also plan to read the new John Boyne book Earth, the new Ethan Joella book, and Ruth Ware has a new book coming out soon! Too many books and not enough time! I have an old Kindle that is outdated, and I have better things to spend money on. I used to check out physical books, but I read more on my phone. I woke up the other day and saw that I had been reading in the middle of the night according to my electronic bookmark, but I don’t remember that and had to go back a few pages to find my place, lol! I set my GoodReads goal at 100 and I usually hit it, but I read a lot in the summer too.

Yes! You are way ahead of me for reading and I do go in spurts sometimes. I am a fair weather reader! I love to read outside.

I love to read actual books, but I find it so much easier to just download them on my iPad through Libby. I used to read four or five books at a time, but I don’t do that much anymore. I escape the humdrum of a long drive through reading, too…unless I have to help navigate around large cities!

Right now I am just using books but I can see the ease of that. I usually only do one fiction but I can skim through lots of non-fiction. Same! I have always been able to read in the car.
