I always get excited about a new season! I’m sure I will wear sweaters again before spring officially makes its arrival next month, but boy have we been getting a tease and that helps me know and see what I will want to be wearing.
Jo lynne Shane blog does a great job of showing up new trends so click on the red font to see what she has to say.
I like to read about trends, but then think about my lifestyle, my body type, my comfort zone, and how that trend would work for me. That is the nice thing about getting some age of you – you know yourself better.
So here are the spring trends I am embracing or planning to embrace…
Stripes – I couldn’t believe I had next to zero striped clothing when I bought this back in the late summer. It was a travel piece for the UK and it’s easy to throw on with black pants for school.

This was the one piece I had from last season. This Loft green and white stripe really spoke to me. I really like the thinner striped green and white oversized that Old Navy has, but I think I am going to be content with this.

Speaking of Old Navy, I am really happy with the blue and white and pink and white striped button ups I bought in January and have already worn them several times. I believe they are now on sale for $14!

I made my first Carly Jean Los Angeles purchase and it included this striped tee.

And, I bought this Walmart Free Assembly classic breton tee and this

Walmart Free Assembly feminine striped sweater.

So, I would say I dove right in with the striped trend!
Rattan – I love rattan!
My Coconuts by Matisse get worn quite a bit and my Target Universal Thread flat sandals were the most worn of summer 2023.

I mean I think this is what they are talking about by rattan. I could see a tote or a handbag being useful this summer, too.

Metallics – I think my fave way to do metallics is in my footwear. I’m really jumping over to silver – I have a new pair of clog/mules and some new to me silver jewelry I’m incorporating I am definitely not over my love of gold shoes; maybe I can find sandals that I like with both silver and gold!
Light gold Eurosoft on the left, new Gap silver clogs in the middle, and old Swedish gold clogs on the right:

A mid-calf denim skirt with a front slit – this is going to be hard to find the right length with my height of 5’4. I don’t want to go into Duggar territory. I mean no offense, but that’s not the look I’m going for. I have a light denim mini skirt, but I want to try the more modern longer skirts I am seeing.
Wide leg white jeans – I have straight leg and flowy white linen pants with a drawstring, but I would like a modern wide leg or maybe a cropped wider leg. This is going to be tricky because I don’t want too much fabric in the legs.
Sweater over the shoulders or my striped breton over my shoulders – Doesn’t she look so cool? She is like, “I got a text, but it can wait. I am pondering life’s mysteries while looking elegant.”

Platform sneakers – I can see myself needing, yes I said needing, white, but I did the crazy fun thing and pulled the trigger on Adidas Gazelle Platforms in pink and green. I did the 8 hour teacher test and the platform is really comfortable. I liked the added height a lot.

What trends are you ready to try? What have I forgotten?

I honestly don’t even know what spring trends are well.. trending! LOL I mostly tend to focus on the colors of the season and am loving all the bright colors.

I also focus on the colors of the season. I sometimes like the Pantone color of the year. Me too!

I have a jeans skirt like that, it’s nice but the slit is a bit intimidating, you really have to think about it when you sit down! And since I’m not a fan of tights I have to wait at least two months until I can wear it…
White wide-legged jeans are really nice, but my hub has a thing for wide-legged jeans… Mom-jeans just kills him! ;D I try to tell him that the kids in school will bully me if I show up in skinny jeans :D.
All the stripes have always been a favorite, on t-shirts, sweaters and everything!
Metallics? No…

Yes, I can see that. Maybe it is your standing only skirt – lol. Only wear it to events without chairs?
Ha – I know! Let’s compromise with straight leg jeans. I like “slightly wide legged”. Have you seen the new barrel leg jeans? Oh my!
Stripes are so classic and fun!

Yes, straight jeans always work! I bought a pair of Wrangler on Walmart last summer and they are really nice, although a bit boring. Barrel jeans! Crazy!
What really bugs me are kids walking on their trousers because they are so long… It’s dirty on the streets!

It’s like you read my mind – I was thinking of this same type of post! So many trends for the new season. I love stripes – your green and white striped shirt is one I wish I had – love the width of those stripes. I’m here for rattan and metallics too – I am still irritated that Aerosoles has not restocked the shoes we want – UGH!!!

I like the width of the green and white Old Navy! I always want new – lol! I know – isn’t that crazy? I’ve checked from time to time.

Ha, that cool coment she is thinking made me laugh! I would love to try some platform sneakers that I could wear with dresses. I love the wide leg pant look. Great post!

Ha! There are some white platform Adidas on Amazon for $30! I found the platform to be really comfortable. I wore them two school days back to back, no sitting or very little sitting down, and my feet and legs felt great!

I can’t really think of any one thing I’d like to try, trend wise, but I need some new jeans soon. I would love a cropped version that are more fitted, which is the best style for me. I had the best ones that finally bit the dust last year, and it killed me to throw them away, but I’d worn them out and they could not be repaired. I have some faded ones that are cute, but I’d like some white ones, and some medium colored ones. I’ll find some eventually! I also plan to buy some sandals soon, the ones I mentioned on a Saturday post a few weeks ago.
You have all the stripes now! 🤣 I have always loved stripes, too. Happy Wednesday to you!

I keep checking dillards westbound! Let me know if you see any new styles.
I don’t remember the sandals but I love buying summer shoes!

Your Duggar territory comment made me laugh out loud 🤣 I have wanted a pair of white jeans for years but never found any I liked on me. I also have been wanting to try wide leg cropped jeans. Last week I went into a thrift store and right in front of me was a white pair of wide leg cropped jeans from Banana Republic in my size! Tried them on and they fit great! Only $8.99!!

Ha! I’m glad! White jeans are tricky! You have to go up a size often because they are not forgiving. Just saw a “blanched almond” Wit and Wisdom jean on Nordstrom. I’m intrigued! Wow – you majorly scored! Jealous!

I bought a pair of Jjill wide leg jeans in January and have been wearing them non stop with sweaters. I haven’t figured out other tops to wear with them yet. I’m an apple shape and I can’t do cropped and an untucked blouse looks sloppy. I love those adidas platforms but have heard that the tongue of the shoe is annoying, have you had any problem with that?

That’s awesome! I need to look there because they have petite length.
Can you half tuck?
The tongue is not bothering me but it is really stiff. I have been wearing no show or really short socks, too. I think it will loosen up over time, too.

I love striped tops! I have striped oxfords, a few J Crew Breton striped t-shirts, and assorted other striped tops. I also have a few sweaters with navy and white stripes. One is cropped and the other is an oversized Gap sweater. I tried to buy striped jeans a few years ago – the thin railroad worker pants – and my husband vetoed it! I’m 5’3”, and when I want regular length pants, I buy regular cropped pants, and they are the correct length on me! I love wide-legged jeans, and I want a really wide-legged, sloppy-looking pair. I’m also on the lookout for white jeans. Banana Republic Factory had a gorgeous pair, but they gapped too much at the back of the waist. I love the cardigan over the shoulders look and wear it often. It was 58 this AM and then 83 this PM, so I need it at school.

They are so classic, cool, and springy! I do that too with pants. My hub never comments on my clothes. I guess he likes what I wear? He does want me to wear practical shoes. I love how my hub dresses except for a leather vest he breaks out once a year. EEK – it’s horrible.
I really want another wide legged pair, but they need to be only slightly wide legged so I don’t look frumpy. It’s going to be like finding a needle in a haystack!

Will do! I haven’t tried that hard yet.

I don’t think I have a lot of stripes…I do prefer a thin stripe on a shirt.
I love metallic sandals too. Rose gold is my fave.

I didn’t until I jumped in headfirst! Ha! Yes, I do, too. They look so good in the summer! I don’t have any rose gold, but I would also like it!

I think my rose gold “birks” are what made me realize how much I like rose gold

Yes! They look great with a tan. I have gold ones just like that so can’t justify anymore really!

I saw JoLynne’s post. I actually just scan it because she always features such pricey stuff! I love stripes but don’t have very many right now. I’m working really hard to not buy stuff! I have an old pair of platinum (I think that’s what they called them) Jack Rogers wedge sandals and a pair of bronzey colored. I love the rattan look and have some wedges with that on the side so I’m calling that I’ve already got those. I never have any luck with white jeans so I don’t even look. I’ve got Old Navy’s wide leg linen pants in white which will suit me. I did buy a denim skirt from Old Navy, but I just keep thinking Mennonite (or Duggar). I’m not sure if I’m going to keep it. I’ve got a couple of weeks yet to decide. I love the look of the sweater draped oh so casually over the shoulders. But, who am I kidding? That is just not me at all! I still have my Stan Smith Adidas which are still way too white so I really need to wear them and grunge them up a bit.
Have a wonderful weekend!
