It’s Thursday and that means it’s Fashion day! I’m linking up with Kellyann and Jill for Fashion Files.

Did you clean out your winter wardrobe?

Are you wearing all of your winter things or they must go? I am focusing on my non-red and pink things because I am gearing up for red and pink month! Ha!

I haven’t put on real clothes much lately because of our extreme winter weather and being stuck at home most of the time!

I finally wore my Target Rowing Blazers collab sweater to school and I didn’t overheat. It was our only day to attend school last week (on Thursday) and it was quite cold outside, so that helped. I wore my 20-year-old Uggs and then changed at school. These are my red Matilda Janes.

Saturday I finally went to Marshall’s because Jennifer talks about her good luck and it’s been on my list for some time. My Marshall’s is not good. My TJ Maxx is much better. I saw “my” because I only go to the stores closest to me. Tom makes fun of my little bubble I stay in around town! I ran errands and I wore my short rain boots, fleece drawstring pants from Walmart I got back in November and probably forgot to show you. They came in a 2 pack and I gave one to Erica. They are super warm. I wore my TJ Maxx striped polo style top and my black vest. I did find one thing and I will show you what I got later in the post!

For school Monday, I wore brown Matilda Janes and my Amazon Essentials black puff sleeve sweater and I also didn’t overheat.

On Tuesday I debuted my Marshall’s top with a bunch of little black birds sitting on wires. It is super soft and was $8! I wore it with my black pants and my black MIA clogs until I had to change into low black Dansko clogs. So, even though I don’t love my Marshall’s, I am really happy with my new top.

One of my classes told me I should have worn white pants to signify the amount of bird poop this amount of birds would produce. And, that, folks is what teaching high school is like. There is no filter and they say whatever pops into their not fully devoloped brain!

I got a new bra! I am so happy with it that I have to share. Click on the red font. It is a wireless smoothing minimizer and I think it’s made my tops look better. I plan to get it in another color, too. The price is right at $17, too.

I got new undergarments and I have to share that they are Walmart Joyspun. I was on the Walmart website and I saw them and thought they must be good if they are Joyspun because we (the blogging community) love the jammies so much. And they are! They are very stretchy, and I love the material. They come in a 6 pack for $10.96.

I hate “wasting” money on undergarments and I always wait too long to replace them, but it really makes a difference.

What have you been wearing?

Amy

  1. We don’t have a Marshall’s all that close to us but we to have a TJ Maxx and I rarely think to go there! I have been wearing lots of thick, warm sweaters with a lot of black pants.

    1. TJ Maxx can be really good at the tail end of an old season/beginning of a new season. I plan to check their tops/blouses here pretty soon! You can’t go wrong with black pants. I am scared to count how many I have if you include leggings!

  2. Our Marshall’s in Pittsburgh was excellent. I got so many great things there, including Wells’ Easter basket!
Here, Marshall’s and TJ Maxx are one store. I noticed that’s a Kansas/Missouri thing. Still good though. I find that Ross is where the trash is. Sometimes you could find a gem there but it’s mostly not worth looking.

    1. So agree on Ross! It’s horrible. I am not going to waste my time on Marshall’s anymore. My TJ Maxx is small but well-stocked and pleasant and I have a student who works there, too.

  3. That comment by your students about the white bottoms – I am dying – they are funny! I love walking around TJMaxx and Marshalls just to see what I see. Haven’t bought any clothes at either in awhile though. Your new bra looks like a good one; I love a good minimizer.
Thanks as always for linking up with us!

  4. I love your new top! It’s funny how different the stores are depending on where you live. It’s opposite for me here with Marshall’s and TJ Maxx. I love that top with the birds on it, and that’s hilarious about what your students said. Yay for loving new underthings that you bought! I feel the same; I replaced all of my things like that in the summer last year, and I am still very pleased with what I bought from Amazon. It’s a good thing to stick with whatever works, once you find something you love. I feel the same as you about waiting too long, but I am not doing that anymore. Also, life is too short to wear a bra you hate!

    1. I went for you and thought of you! Another size was priced at $8 and the one I wanted was $12 so I took both to the register and got mine for $8, too! Can’t beat that! Now, I know that I shopped at a bad time. Both TJ and Marshall’s have the dredges of winter and haven’t gotten spring stuff in yet.
It has been amazing to have on new underthings this week that are so comfy. It really makes a difference. Yes, girl!

  5. I love the all black with the gold shoes! All of the outfits are cute though. Around here, it’s warming up into the 60’s so wearing flannel shirts and lighter jackets. I read in the news that we shouldn’t put away winter clothes yet because February could bring another polar vortex.

    1. Thank you! The pants were actually a really dark chocolate brown color but the photo looked black. So…my classroom was an absolute humid oven this week. We are talking fogged up windows and everything so the lighter blouses came out!
We do get our coldest and most snow in Feb. too!

  6. We have Marshall’s and TJ Maxx but I don’t go to either very often. I tend to stick to L. L. Bean for pants and I have some tops from Amazon that I really like when it’s a little warmer. In the winter, I switch between a couple of cozy sweaters I picked up at Costco.

    1. To thine own self be true! And, honestly, sometimes I get carried away with the cheap prices and don’t really “need” the item. That sounds like a great wardrobe!

  7. I know what you mean about having YOUR TJ Maxx. I actually still go the the TJM over by my old house because I think it is so much better! And don’t even talk to me about Marshall’s or Ross…ha, ha! Love the new top and the funny teen comments about it. 🙂

    1. Yes! There is a big, big one not too far away but I always feel out of sorts there and actually find more in my small one anyway.
I think I like my bird shirt! It’s so soft!

  8. There’s a Marshalls just down the road from me, but I’ve rarely found anything I liked there. Most of it was snagged and just plain bad. I’m trying to think where the nearest TJ Maxx is…it may be in the same strip mall…shows how observant I am! I do love Home Goods, though! I think high schoolers must be 4th graders only taller. Nothing made my kids laugh louder than anything to do with toilets! Love the bird shirt, though!

So, you have totally inspired me. I’ve been tracking my spending (I haven’t done grocery or dining out), and I’m always thinking, “Do I really want to add that to my spreadsheet, or do I want a $0 spend day?” So far, I’ve only had one day I spent money! Huzzah! But, then I did just go to the eye doctor and spent a bloody fortune. So, no huzzah there. My eyes are terrible so I have to get special lenses which are crazy expensive. But, then I order fun glasses online and have a small eyeglass wardrobe!

Have a fabulous weekend, Amy! I hope you’ll link up Thursday, Friday, or both!

    1. Yeah, Marshall’s not worth it for me. Maybe that would be a fun winter thing to find your TJ Maxx – sometimes they are next to a Homegoods. But, you also don’t want to be tempted if you are tracking.
I would track your groceries and dining out just to see. No one is seeing it but you and it might be fun to see how you can decrease it in the next month? I don’t know! The eye expenses come around so infrequently and you can consider glasses part of your accessories, too? Medical and fashion?
I really need to go to the eye doctor – it’s been awhile!
