It’s link up day for Fashion Files here!
First, let’s start with some new items I added to my wardrobe.
On my birthday, I visited my local boutique and saw this dress:

I love black and camel and black and gold and it had my animal print! How much animal is too much? I have my aqua blouse (spring/summer) so that is put away now and my hot pink blouse. So, this makes only my third!
If you spent $30 or more, you could pick a free poncho, so I picked this one!

Did you see the Target Rowing Blazers collab? Never heard of it, but this v neck sweater made me gasp. I ordered mine online.

I had wanted a washable black silk skirt so I tried this one from Target and I love it!

I also ordered 5 basic long sleeve tees from Target to be able to wear under things. They are really nice quality. I feel like they are a step above t-shirt material.

I decided to keep the camel coatigan in the larger size. Here is me trying it on one last time with a column of black underneath.

Now, I will try, try, try to be content with my wardrobe. I am really proud of how little I have purchased since school started and I am also proud of being more thoughtful about purchases.
Here is what I wore on my birthday! It was super cold and I had lots of errands to run. I wore the new long sleeve black tee from Target, leggings from Costco, and last year’s Target plaid flannel.

For my birthday dinner, I wore the new silk skirt, an old black sweater, my new to me booties, and my favorite beaded clutch.

For school the next day, I wore leggings, my new TJ Maxx striped pullover, and my New Balance sneaks.

For Friday night birthday dinne with friends, I wore the silk skirt again, the booties again, and my hot pink sweater.

One of my friends got me this cool necklace and I wore it Saturday with this fun print blouse from TJ Maxx.

And, Monday for school I wore a fall colored blouse, my mustard cardigan, and my Dillard’s jeans with my Danskos.

And, Tuesday when I was off for Election Day, I wore Target jeans, gold clogs, and my other new TJ Maxx top (both turning out to be good buys!). This is the first time Ernie has tried to hog my spotlight. Look how sweet! He was like, “Who cares about your outfit, woman. You are off today and I want another walk.” And, yes, I did change shoes and walk him before I went out!

My goal is to wear all my fall colors this month before I switch to black, wine, royal blue, and plaid for the month of December. I think this helps me to wear more of my closet!
What have you purchased lately?

It was cold last week, but now we are in the 70s again! This is why we need fall colors in lighter fabrics. It never fails that we get warm weather again. I’m not complaining because I love it!

I love your outfits and your new purchases! How fun that you were able to find the new purchases you were looking for, and that you love them! That’s always the best feeling. I’d love to make a few purchases to add to my closet, since it’s been a while. I always like to purchase a few tops for the season I’m in. I just need to figure out where to go!

Thank you! It was fun to get to find things on my bday. You definitely should! I am having a lot of luck in my small TJ Maxx. I just go to my size and see if there are any colors or patterns that speak to me. Another idea would be the brand that you like from your Rooster store and look online for that? My last idea – I think you might really like an Aerie piece. They are so great!

I LOVE your new skirt – the outfit you wore for your birthday was fabulous! Also, those long sleeve tees from Target are so good. I have one in black and it really is a great staple. So glad you linked up with us!

Thank you! I think I will get lots of use out of it. I just washed it with a whole load and it did great. I love that it is washable and dry-able silk. I did let it line dry but I think I will put it in the dryer on the steam setting to release the wrinkles. The tees will be really useful this winter, I think.

Oh! Your new dress is perfect (& how fun that you got a free poncho too!) love the black skirt. I rarely buy skirts for some reason. Your Monday outfit is a perfect fall outfit for school.

Thank you! I am really excited to wear it! Some people are more dress people but skirts work well for me so I do have several. Thank you!

I do love that coatigan! And your new dress is just perfect! I spent some money this past week but it was my spending money (from my mom in law) so does it technically count? I ended up at Cato’s and got 2 dresses on clearance, a pair of pants and a tee on clearance and a red tulle skirt (full price). Thinking of bringing the skirt to the beach to do a cool photo shoot there.

I threw it on for errands this weekend and felt put together and warm! Hope it is a good buy. No – it doesn’t! Good job! I love that idea. I have seen some fun colorful sequin skirts for the holidays.

You really hit it out of the park this week! I love the black print dress, so wearable! I picked up a black sequin top at TJ Maxx this week that would look great with the Target skirt, I need to try one. Can you tell me the brand on the striped top? That looks perfect with leggings and I always love a stripe.

Thank you! I can’t wait to wear it. Oh – I love that idea. I have a Loft sequin top and could do that, too. I think it’s a TJ Maxx brand and it’s gone now – a reader found a similar one at Macy’s Style and Co.

As usual I love all of your outfits! I finally found a black and cream striped lightweight sweater at Macy’s. It’s by Style & Co. I looked everywhere for one like yours including TJMaxx! Seems like they are sold out at stores and online so I was happy to find the Macy’s one on sale for $19.99.

Thank you! Oh, I love Style and Co! I want more stripes in my life! I went to TJ Maxx and all they have is sweaters now practically. I guess you have to get the tops before September or October when they get their sweater shipment in. I also plan to look at my consignment store as I have not been there in a while!

I love the animal print dress you got! It’s a total win, and I would think you could wear it with tights (maybe even burgundy if you’re feeling daring) to winterize it. I don’t think I ever told you you influenced me to buy a shirt from Talbots which is similar to the animal print one you bought at TJ Maxx! It reminds me of a William Morris print. I’ve been buying hair products trying to find something that will work on this limp fine hair of mine!
