I don’t have a ton to share with you today, but I am happy to link up with Kellyann and Jill for Fashion Files.
Let’s go back to last week when the weather was unseasonably cool. I wore this to one of our teacher workdays. This outfit is sponsored by Old Navy – ha! The white gauzy blouse is a consignment find – Old Navy new with tags – you have seen it on here a bunch. The jeans are from my quest last fall to try a straight leg. They are button fly which surprised me in a good way! As you can see the length is perfect. As you can see, they are tight, so I am trying to get back to where they fit a bit looser.
So, straight legs…now skinny seems weird to me and like my legs are in sausage casings. I didn’t get rid of my skinnies, but I am definitely only wearing a straight leg now. I also have a flare and a semi wide leg style in my closet. My jeans are Target Universal Thread, Wit and Wisdom from Nordstrom, and new to me Westbound from Dillard’s.
I did a tan rattan headband and my coordinating slide sandals from Target.

I didn’t get any weekend outfit pics. I think I just wore my cut offs Saturday night with a blouse.
Monday was our first day back and I wore my Old Navy blue and white dress with sneakers:

Tuesday I was prepared for it to be super hot in my classroom and wore probably my coolest feeling dress – this dress is from my spring Walmart dress haul. A lot of the teachers are wearing dresses right now with our high 90s temps and not super strong AC.

And yesterday I wore my old purple skirt, new poncho blouse, and new Crocs sandals.

I have some early fall inspo. I have been finding inspo in the Instagram ads I get. I am trying to use these to see what I already have to create that look.
I have things in my closet that are similar to this:

I really don’t have much J.Jill. I did go in the store this month, but nothing was appealing – I think it can be great for staples, though. I have a chambray blouse and I have mustard Matilda Jane pants and I think I can re-create this. I was drawn to the color combo.
Still crushing on gold shoes, but this style and this darker tone appealed to me for fall:

I also liked this look – the chambray on cut offs appealed to me:

I don’t have a short sleeve chambray, but I have been looking for one this summer without the high neck. Maybe I will still find one before it gets too cool for short sleeves?
What are you wearing?
What styles are you wanting to try for early fall?
Amy
I love your old navy outfit. You are so good at shopping your closet and creating looks with things you already have. I’m not a JJill shopper but that looks comfy and cute!

It’s 55 here this morning so I’m wearing pants and long sleeves to start my day and as it “warms up” to 74 or 75 I’ll swap out the long sleeves with a short sleeve shirt. I don’t think I have ever shopped J Jill but that blue and yellow outfit it really cute.

I really like that first outfit so much – the jeans look great!
I walked into a JJill once and didn’t care for it but everything I see online makes me think I need to go in and try on some things – kinda like Chico’s!
Glad school is back for you – what a whirlwind!

I don’t know if you know this about me, but I really dislike shopping when I “need” to go shopping. When I have to buy something like a pair of jeans, I usually won’t find any that I like. That being said, I do love it when I’m not looking for something, and I hit the jackpot.
That has happened to me twice lately: one was an online order, and one time was in my favorite boutique. I purchased two tops and eight dresses: one dress was the pic I sent you last week- I will probably wear it at least twice before fall is officially here, but the rest I can wear into fall and even winter. I needed (and wanted) more dresses for my job. (I get really hot in there when I’m working!) And truthfully, I don’t have many clothes that are seasonal, because I dress the same all year. I try to buy things that can be worn throughout the year, and I just change things by putting on a denim jacket or a cardigan. Simplicity appeals to me, and while I can’t really consider my wardrobe to be one that I would consider a capsule one, I do try to buy with that way of dressing in mind.
I’ll share about the things I’ve recently bought soon. In the meantime, I can’t wait to wear them! I was shocked that six of the online dresses were as good as they are, and that the fit is perfect. I love it when that happens!

I have been loving seeing what the teachers wear at school when I drop off my son: such cute fashion! Dresses and skirts in abundance as well as wide leg pants. White jeans on Fridays… Very fashionable crew! Love that first outfit of yours. Those jeans suit you well. Those jjill mustard pants are tempting me… going to check them out online!

Oh, I feel for you in a hot classroom. For most of my teaching career, we didn’t have AC at all. There was a window unit in the office and one in the teachers’ lounge. Luckily, the principal let us wear professional looking shorts! I love shopping at Old Navy and J Jill. I often put the two together! There was a time when J Jill was much more avant-garde-ish. In fact, I didn’t think I was cool enough to go in the store! Now, it’s definitely going for a certain demographic.
Love that Old Navy dress as well as those flats you’ve got your eye on. I’m not really looking to add anything to my closet, but I’m sure I will.
