How was your weekend/holiday? I am so happy Tom took off on Monday. I think he really needed those four consecutive days off. He caught up on sleep, went to the movies, did a lot of boating, watched a lot of Tour de France (ha!), and spent time with his family. He didn’t do a ton of fix it jobs, but he did do some.
So, I left off after Saturday evening on my Hello Monday post...
Sunday we woke up to more rain! But, we were determined. Would there be a clear pocket to go boating?
But first, a gym sesh:

Ok, the sky doesn’t look too great…

Heather looks scared but she is just excited. She doesn’t let a few dark clouds stop her. I am getting a lot of Heather time right now.

We headed towards our downtown and we got to see The Nina, The Pinta, or The Santa Maria!

It was especially fun because Heather and Eric’s sweet college daughter got to come for the first time. Katelyn is a doll and complimented me on my pop culture knowledge.

Tom’s boat radio started blowing up about severe weather so we gave up and drove cars (instead of boat) to eat.
I got the salmon spinach salad!

We still had a nice time.
For dinner we were happy to have all of us home and I made burgers, corn, and potatoes.

Monday, we re-did our boat ride with our friends Scott and Jessica and finally, the weather looked amazing for us.

We ate on the boat and then hung out in the cove.

I finished this and really liked it! It made me laugh out loud or at least chuckle several times.

It’s by the same author as this:

I really liked this, too!
Then, on Tuesday…
My sister Molly and her hub Jason did their annual (3rd year running) trip from our hometown to Louisville by boat.

We had such a nice day!
Bye!

Now for Currently with Jennifer!
Loving –
Really, everything! I am loving having all four of us in the house, cooking for my family, electricity! (After having lost it for about 36 hours from last Sunday until Tuesday morning), time to read, time outdoors, unhurried time, lack of structure – all the things of summer.
We have had so many storms and so much rain, but everything is so GREEN!

Our happy place is definitely on the river. I pushed Tom to buy a used boat 8 years ago after talking about it for our entire marriage and we have gotten so much use out of it. Sure, a lake would be nice, but we can be on this river in about 15 minutes from our house.

Savoring –
With life being so busy for my friends at this stage in our lives, I am savoring any time spent with them.

And, add in a nice chilled glass of wine over conversation….ahhhh

Celebrating –
Anything and everything! We are getting ready to celebrate our anniversary soon.

Remembering –
Summers of the past and just trying to remember how quickly summer passes and to live in the moment.
Trying –
A few new things like this:

What about you? Anything you want to share?
Amy
We’ve been having lots of rain and lots of storms too (not all that surprising as our temps either drop or raise by 20+ degrees from one day to the next). Funny enough we had a boat and living on the lake we rarely used it so we finally decided to sell it a few years ago and we haven’t missed it at all. BUT I am glad we had it when the boys were little and they were all into tubing.

I am hoping to have some just nice sunny days here now!
That is funny but if you aren’t using it you made the right call!

What a full weekend you had!! So sorry the weather did not work out for you Saturday but also really nice that you live so close that you could call an audible and still have a great day with your friends. Sometimes those four-day weekends really, really recharge, someone… We chose not to take that option this year and it’s a weird week with having worked one day, yesterday off, and now, three days of work before the weekend.
I couldn’t agree, more, savoring summer. Whether you are in the classroom and this is your time off every year or not, it is my hands-down, favorite season – the sun, the heat, not wearing a million layers, and the great, light food!

Yes, it was fine! I hope he feels recharged. It was a weird week and I never knew the day of the week!
Yes to all things summer except the mosquitoes!

I’m so glad you finally got some great boating weather! I would love hanging out/ floating in that cove. We used to do that on a lake I grew up in Hot Springs, as a young girl. I remember hours of floating on the life jacket I used for a floating device. It’s so great to spend time with friends- there is really nothing quite like it! I love that you’re savoring the lazy days of summer and being present each day. I’m trying to do the same over here!

Finally! That is great. I can relate. Tom works himself too hard sometimes and then complains that he is tired.

It is fun to talk pop culture with the youth of today…those kids keep us a little young :). Sounds like the boat was a smart decision for your family and always fun to see y’all enjoying the outdoors. Loving family time together, cooking and having electricity are certainly great things to love and be thankful for. I’m glad there is some green beauty after the storms. Enjoy the rest of your week!

I love all of the boat time! My parents recently bought a lake house so a boat may be in our near future!

Thank you! It’s a lot of fun, but very expensive for the maintenance and the gas. Maybe the family could go in together? Also, always buy used. Some people buy boats and then never use them so you really can get a good deal.

That is so nice that you are so close to the river! I think we would really enjoy boating, but we are at least an hour from any lake or the coast. I don’t think we’d go very often with that drive, which would usually be longer due to traffic! Keep on enjoying the summer days, and send some of that rain to us in texas!

I like it! Yes, you would. You could rent one sometime maybe? Yes – I would love to send it to you! I think we are getting into a more dry spell now.

Oh, I would love to have a boat and a body of water to enjoy it on. And thanks for the book recommendation — I just checked it out to read.

We live close to a large reservoir, and I’m always trying to talk Mike into buying a pontoon boat. Somehow, the answer remains no. Maybe, some year! Ah, summer…I remember struggling with the first couple of weeks right after school let out. Then, I’d get used to the glory of summer, and it would be time to start getting ready for the next year.
I’m currently on a reading crush on Louise Penny and Armand Gamache. I love these books, but so many of them are on hold. I don’t usually read series of books, but these are also stand alone kinds of books.
I invite you to come over for a link party for 10 on the 10th.

The best thing is to have a friend with a boat!
I don’t think I have ever read those authors. I will look into them.
I’m at the party! Thanks!
