Are you ready for an amazing recipe? Go make it right after you read this – that is how strongly I feel! You probably have all of the ingredients on hand. This is a simple, but super chocolately cake and you will flip.
Not a food blogger photo:

I was thinking I could use a cookie cutter for the powdered sugar next time and create an image in powdered sugar!
Better photo from the magazine:

I found this recipe in one of those free local magazines – believe it or not – and part of my reason for this post is selfish; I will have the recipe on the blog to refer to myself! I plan to make this so much that people will think of me and this cake as one. “Amy, the one who makes that divine chocolate cake? Yes, I know her.”
Ingredients:
1 and 1/4 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup warm coffee (I used my Keurig and did my normal breakfast blend. It makes me wonder about using a darker roast?)
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 cup veg. oil
1 tsp. apple cider vinegar (weird, right?)
Preheat oven to 350.
Mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt with a whisk.
Combine coffee, vanilla, veg. oil and vinegar in a separate bowl.
Now combine the wet with the dry just until mixed.
Pour into a greased cake pan and bake for 30 minutes.
That is it! Sprinkle powdered sugar after it has cooled a bit.
So simple but so perfect. You will die over how MOIST (not a favorite word of mine, but it really is the only word to use in this case) it is. Embrace a German custom and have a 3:00 coffee with this cake.
I cannot wait for you to try this!
