I have two more weeks of school and 8 more unique outfits to create. I am at the point where I would like to repeat pieces! Lol!

I am so ready to be done, but you guys, I may cry on the last day I see each group of students. I see Group A on Mondays and Tuesday and Group B on Thursday and Friday, except our last week we only go Monday through Thursday, so it will be Monday and Tuesday and then Wednesday and Thursday with no Wednesday asynchronous day. That was a run-on sentence and I’m too tired to fix it! I teach my virtual kids during my planning periods., but I am so tired of teaching on a screen!

I have had so much fun getting to know these kids! We have had some great discussions. Teenagers are really great people, you know? We found that we have basically zero behavior problems from the kids that chose to come back in person.

Friday after school I finished this…

I really liked it and couldn’t put it down as evidenced by the fact that I read it from Wednesday to Friday in pieces after school and in the evenings on a very busy week.

Tom and I had a date night because the kids went to see one of the three Shakespeare in the Parking Lot plays – Much Ado about Nothing.

We tried a new place that has this mural on the outside.

I tried this and it was good.

We shared their pulled pork nachos as our dinner and also got vegetable skewers because they were out of salad!

We got ice cream after because Tom loves getting ice cream and we rarely do it. I am happy with a kid size scoop and always do that. We went to Graeter’s – if you know you know. It is really good ice cream from Cincinnati, Ohio, I think.

Saturday morning I started this book.

I ran to Kroger to get just a few items and I made portable snack/charcuterie boxes. I did Babybel cheese, spicy pickles, grapes, Club minis – so cute!, and 3 types of cheese cubes.

It was time for the family to see Jack in Comedy of Errors at the Shakespeare in the Parking Lot Festival. He had one of the principal roles and was so good. I know I am biased, but this kid can act. He has great stage presence, great enunciation, great voice projection, and comedic timing.

They set the play in modern times at a music festival but still used the Shakespeare dialogue with a few changes to some lines. And now, Mason has been bitten by the acting bug and did two plays in college. We will see where this takes them but it scares Tom and I because we are pretty practical people!

Jack is sad because he has been part of this youth community theatre for 3 years and this was his final play.

After the play we crossed the street to an italian restaurant and had a nice meal with lots of leftovers.

So, the play was outside and it was really hot. They asked that people still wear masks. I have been talking a lot about this with my friends and students. When and how will fully vaccinated people get to stop wearing masks?

I was super careful for a year! I was one of the most careful of people I know, but it is time. If you are fully vaccinated, you do not need the mask. If someone wants to wear one, that is totally fine! You choose to not get vaccinated, you wear a mask.

Jack and Mason stayed to watch the last of the Shakespeare plays, Hamlet. Tom and I got home around 6:30 after saying bye to our family that came.

It was such a nice night so we put the bedroom tv on the patio again. I read my book mostly while Tom watched Alias.

Ernie was our only kid at home!

Sunday morning meal prep for the week – I made homemade light egg mcmuffins and cauliflower fried rice with ground turkey for my breakfasts and lunches this week.

Then, I did school work, walked, and read!

  1. How nice that your family was able to come see Jack’s play – I bet he is sad to see it come to an end. Oh the mask thing – I cannot even get started on it. I don’t wear mine unless I am asked to – and I hate every minute of it! Ha!!

    1. It really was so nice and normal. He is really sad. They have a end of year program tomorrow night. I know. I am actually thinking of only going to stores who have lifted it. I am done!

    I get you on the acting thing… my youngest was really into it for a while, and it was a bit hard for me to cheer her on.,,,
    Well, I had all my family in the cabin for a long weekend, so I was as happy as a mom can be! Oldest daughter has met boyfriend in the military… so I'm happy that she wanted to spend so much time with us!
    So, 8 more outfits!? You can do it! 😀

      Oh, that is cool about your youngest. You know, it is something I always had in the back of my mind for myself. I was in some plays and loved it. You could say that teaching is kind of the same thing – being on stage in front of your students. I just want both of them to have a skill and a back up plan. I would love a cabin right about now!
      So nice! OOOOOOhhhhh – a military boyfriend! Where is he from? I bet she really missed you guys and she is just preparing to introduce the boyfriend, too!

      1. I agree, teaching is absolutely a kind of performance!
        The boyfriend is actually from Stockholm too, but he’s planning to stay in the military for one more year (up in the north) while my daughter is done with her training and will go to university here in Stockholm. We’ll see… But I guess we’ll meet him this summer, it is a bit strange… And my husband is maybe not 100 % ok with it… you know, daddy’s girl!

  3. I love your little charcuterie plates and that some many were able to go see Jack’s play. I’m with you on the masks…it’s time. People who want to be vaccinated have had the opportunity. I hope you have a great week

    1. Thank you! It was so nice for Jack and for all of us to do something so pre-pandemic. It is time and I agree. If someone hasn’t gotten vaccinated by now they probably won’t.

  5. SO much yummy food!! What a delicious looking week. I know around here they are dropping our mask mandate but people are already wondering how/who will be policing the unvaccinated that go mask-less. With Hippa laws you can’t ask to see proof of vaccine and once people are in the store how on Earth would anyone know that they removed their mask if they did have someone at the door asking to see proof… it’s going to be a mess and from what I understand most states the drop the mandate pretty much just left it as a free for all and most people don’t wear masks.

    1. Thank you, Joanne! I did eat much healthier on the other days – lol! I agree – I don’t think it really can be policed. If our healthcare system is not taxed, I think the better approach might be a “you do you” approach. I went to Costco and they said no masks if you were vaccinated but didn’t ask for proof. About 1/3 still wore masks inside.
      I hate to think of a teenager having to police that at a retail establishment, you know?

  6. The mini charcuterie boards are such a fun idea. I’m glad you got to see the play with lots of family around. I hope you like Star Crossed Sisters – I loved it. The book you just finished is on the my phone for audio right now…can’t wait to start. Thanks for the shout out – great news about the masks. Now I have heard that Target and Trader Joe’s have joined Walmart. I hope Kroger and HEB (our local groc store) will follow suit soon. Have a wonderful week.

      I am loving Star Crossed! It’s very different from anything I’ve read recently or maybe ever.
      Yes – I loved that you posted that and we went to Costco and it was amazing!
      It really is time – especially if one is fully vaccinated!

  7. Those charcuterie boards are a great idea! I think it is going to be hard to say good bye to kids this year because we’ve been through so much. But it will not be hard to say good bye to the year. Does that make sens? I can’t believe you only have 2 weeks left! You’ve got this!! I love how you were all able to be there for the play!!       I agree – I feel like we just got to know each other and have built such a rapport in just a few weeks. Exactly! I think I will prepare a little speech with something of that sort of wording. I hope I’ve got this. This feels like the longest part of the year.

  8. Hello, We had great weather and got the garden planted and flowers in the pots. Now I need to water as have not had much rain at all, but in the forecast for most of the week. Another gorgeous day here so will get out and walk too. Yes, masks are annoying , but I know people who are not vaccinated and will not wear them. I find it disrespectful. We are pretty much done wearing them here and my husband and I were fully vaccinated by April 10. You motivated me to stop at the library and our church is across the street! I looked for that book, but got another of hers, London is the Best City in America. She has several books that look great. Reading Jane Harper’s new book too and on Chapter 2 and like it so far. Since rain is in the forecast, hoping I can get some reading done My husband went back to our gym as mask mandate ended and I may venture there this week as, rain. So glad your guys are enjoying acting. It is something they can do throughout their lives. My husband sings and was in Annie and Jesus Christ Superstar in 2018 and was really fun and good for him. Hang in there!!

    1. So jealous! I would love a garden! We looked for flowers for a pot this weekend and I didn’t find what I wanted so I will put that on my list for next weekend. Glad you had great weather!
      Right – if you haven’t been vaccinated by now and you are 16 or older you probably aren’t going to? I say if it doesn’t tax our healthcare system that we let those who are unvaccinated still wear masks or not.
      I’m so glad you lucked out at the library! That is nice that your church is across the street. I love that our library now has Sunday hours after many years of not having them. I will look into those books – haven’t heard of that or that author.
      Love reading in the rain under my covered patio. I love summer rain!
      I am enjoying walking outside but I am considering trying to figure out a weight routine at the gym along with some elliptical trainer which I enjoy.
      I would love to be in an adult production. It is super time consuming but so rewarding and I love that your husband does that!
