How was your weekend? Mine felt like summer! I am linking up today with Heather, Tanya and many more right here.

Here are the highlights…

Thursday afternoon I did a test run of the Mexican Sangria Mule cocktail. I didn’t love the combo wine and tequila and ginger beer. It looked pretty, though.

Friday morning I took Jack to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to start college dorm room shopping. Their selection was not great so we didn’t buy anything and headed to Target.

The school supply section made me sad. Jack picked up a few notebooks.

Then, he did find his comforter, sheets, and towels. He wasn’t very fun to shop with because he was being so practical. He kept saying he didn’t need much and that he could use a lot of what we already had at home!

Friday afternoon my two college besties came over for a patio happy hour. I made sangria for two of us and the Sangria mule for my friend that really likes mules. She liked it!

I made us individual snack plates.

Then, I brought these out for “dessert”!

Friday night the boys wanted Mediterranean. We split two meals between the four of us.

Greek salad

Chicken kabob, rice, and fries

Saturday morning I decided to run to Hobby Lobby.

Look at the fall stuff!

I bought some clearance things for the patio and napkin rings for my cloth napkins.

Then, Tom, Ernie and I went out on the river for a picnic lunch.

After a while, there were so many boats in the cove where we like to go.

Proscuitto and tomato sandwiches

Ernie did a lot of swimming and then was worn out.

Tom was super happy that baseball started up this weekend and he watched a bit when we got home.

I forgot to take a picture but I picked up Cheddar’s for dinner and then we watched this as a family. I liked it but it wasn’t what I was expecting. The boys really liked it. Tom did not like it.

Sunday morning I read a bit on the porch. I am getting into this book!

Then, I met Tom at the river after he finished paddle boarding and we headed toward the city this time.

I didn’t tell Tom I was getting us Ale 8 slushies for the boat. Ale 8 is a drink from Tom’s hometown that tastes like gingerale. The gas station near our house has a slushie machine with this drink. He was texting to ask about it as I was getting back in my car after getting them!

This is what it looks like.

I got us McDonald’s biscuits and we had a fancy boat brunch!

We like to float with these things – we call them diapers but some call them saddles. You are able to sit upright in the water.

We just floated for a long time and it was nice. Ernie couldn’t come the second day because we dropped the valve for his doggy ramp in the water and are waiting on a replacement to come in the mail this week.

Out of nowhere it started pouring and we high tailed it out of there.

So, we had a very summer weekend with two boat days.

How was your weekend? Any highlights?

I have two more weeks of semi-freedom before work. I found out I have a meeting this week and need to do some professional development. We also have some appointments for the boys and need to finish dorm shopping. I’m taking Mason today. What we can’t find in stores we will order from Amazon. I know I’m late but I wasn’t positive move in would happen.

Thanks for reading!

Amy

    1. Thank you! Can you believe I didn’t own any?
Yes, I was kind of shocking at how boring shopping with a boy was! Mason’s turn is today!
I’m so glad Grace still gets to go but I know you are getting sad and nervous. This darn virus! I just hate it for the kids especially!

  1. I think shopping with boys is always a little frustrating (at least my boys); they never seem to want much of anything I’d like to buy them and they are pretty practical. I know I should be grateful for that and I am but it’s not much fun when I want to shop. I wish we had a Hobby Lobby near us… but my husband is so Thankful we do not!

  2. Ah… Hobby Lobby… I miss my American shopping…! It was you that recommended Hobby Lobby last year, and all four of us loved it! We started a new tradition (or so we thought…) of buying one Christmas ornament for the tree… Crazy to buy it in the middle of the summer, but there was a big department of Christmas stuff, so…
We do boating every day! I always bring “fika”, nothing fancy but it’s very cozy! Your boat looks very nice! Do you ever do sleep overs?
What will you do for professional development? Any recommendations? I need to fill one day…

    1. It’s a great store! That is a fun tradition! Maybe you can buy 2 next year! Lol! Fika on the boat! Boat fika! Maybe I will try that and my husband will think I’m even crazier because I always talk about my Swedish friend.
No good options for you like the podcasts from last year. They are really making us scramble this year. I am doing something about Nearpod and that’s all I know right now.

      1. 2 next year – of course! Sound advice!
Yes, do a Swedish boat fika! Next time you go to Ikea you can buy their cinnamon buns! And you need to put the coffee in a thermos! He won’t think you’re crazy, it’s me you can blame! 😀

      2. W H A T ! ? On both of your statements! Can’t say which one is worse; not drinking coffee or not been too Ikea… LOL!

      3. I drink coffee! Tom doesn’t drink coffee, sadly. The closest IKEA to us is 1.5 hours away and it hasn’t been there that long. Remember that I live in the boring midwest!

      1. It’s in stores all over town here. I am not a bourbon drinker, but Rodney is. I’ll have to pass that along to him!

      2. When I met Tom you couldn’t get it anywhere but his area. That’s funny that it’s there, now! Tell Rodney! I love bourbon – especially in the fall. My Dad started drinking it with me :).

  4. I love the fact you fit such a variety of things into your week! Jack sounds soooo much like Caspar – ‘making do’ and not wanting a fuss or a lot of money spending. Is it going to be his first term at Univeristy? I loved the look of your greek salad – did you use quinoa? It looked super delicious, could eat it now, and have just been out for lunch! I totally get what you are saying about the school supplies thing being a bit sad – what I’m finding sad here is you can tell people are mostly buying online, the shops are full of stuff but so quiet. I love the fact there is a ‘teacher’s decor’ section; I’ve never seen that before!

    1. You are too kind to say that as I feel like I’m not! It’s a good quality to make do and be content. Yes, both of my boys (twins) are starting first year at university 30 minutes from home and living on campus in dorm! I love Greek salad but it’s from a restaurant.
I do recreate sometimes. Yes, they put quinoa which I love!
Yes, we are big on teacher decor but we will be online for start of school – so sad!
