I haven’t done many fashion posts lately and I think we all know why! There has not been much fashion in my life! But, now I am starting to do a bit more; fashion has always been a hobby of mine.
So, today we are going to talk about red shoes! You didn’t expect that, did you?
For the past two years I have been grappling with a decision. Should I buy red flats? Rothy’s? Tieks? What about red clogs? How about red sandals?
Why was I so intrigued? I don’t know! I don’t even wear much red clothing, to be honest.
Dorothy’s red shoes were magical and could take her home.
Carrie Bradshaw’s BFF Stanford told her that only little girls and loose women wear red shoes.
While I was preparing this post I read that red shoes were historically a sign of an unruly woman! I like that!
So, where do you get outfit inspiration? It can be found anywhere. I find it in blogs, catalogs, magazines, movies and t.v., friends, strangers out and about. I wasn’t, however, expecting to find inspiration from a Facebook ad for the Peach Truck coming to a parking lot near me.
Look how cute!
You know I love a white blouse and we all have jeans or denim shorts or denim skirts, and then look at the pop of red. These look like Saltwater Sandals which have also intrigued me for a while. Anyone have them? Advice?
So I did a little more “research” and look how cute they look with this Mexican embroidered top.
And, the red clogs! I can see these looking great with an all black outfit.
And, again, just a simple pop of color adds a lot to this outfit, in my opinion.
After I finish each school year, I buy myself a little gift. So, this year I decided on the red sandal. I decided to go with the classic Dr. Scholl’s – yes, they still make them.
They are so comfortable to me. You can adjust the strap to how it best fits your foot. I have a long history of these. I begged for fake ones when I was little and got them. I also had custom painted ones in the early 2000s. It was a brief trend.
From the website: “From the moment its iconic exercise sandals hit the shelves in 1968, Dr. Scholl’s has been a brand synonymous with comfortable footwear and healthy feet.” So, apparently you get exercise while wearing these, too!
Get ready for some real life outfits with these! I actually can’t believe how much I have that works with these. Even though I don’t wear a great deal of the color red, I have a lot of pieces with a hint of red in them. I also have things that just work with this color.

I have never owned a pair of those Dr. Scholl’s sandals – how crazy is that? I do love a red shoe and feel like the right shade of red will go with just about anything. I have a pair of red heels I bought at Bloomingdale’s while in NYC celebrating my 40th (12 years ago!). They are the best shoes – such soft, gorgeous leather but they aren’t as comfortable on my feet as they used to be so I don’t wear them often. But they mean too much to me to get rid of!

I have some red clog sandals, and I love them. Wish I could wear them somewhere this summer. 🙂 Most of my wardrobe is pretty neutral, so the red is always a nice pop, I think.

I love the red for a pop of color. Dr. scholl’s brings me way back, I wore them all the time! I didn’t know they were still available. I really enjoy your blog!

Thank you! I keep finding ways to style a red shoe! They are still available! They are kind of pricey. I bought mine directly from Dr. Scholls website. They have some other cute styles, too. You are too kind, Lisa! Thank you!

I love the red sandal you bought! I had a similar pair as a kid and then bought a tan pair right out of college. I wish I wouldn’t have let them go.

I LOVE your red Dr. Scholls!! SO CUTE on you!! I have a pair of red patent clogs that I LOVE!!! I wear in the winter a ton! I think the pop of color is just plain FUN!!

Oh my goodness what a blast from the past. I haven’t seen Dr. Scholls in years!! I alwyas loved them. I do have a pair of red flip flops and use them as my pop of red for the 4th of July.

I really love those red clogs. I’m nervous about buying them because of a traumatic experience. I once had the cutest pair of short red leather boots that tied all the way up the front. My sister asked me if I had been shopping at Ronald McDonald’s garage sale. I’ve been intimidated to wear red shoes ever since.

I could see you in red clogs! The experience you describe was far more traumatic for the innocent bystanders. I wake up in cold sweats after having nightmares about them. Those boots and red clogs are two very different fashion statements. You shouldn’t be worried.

I love red shoes and usually have a pair, usually flats and more for cool weather. I was looking in January for a new pair of heels and tried on a pair from a German company called Ara that are the most comfortable I’ve ever had. I was hesitant because they are red suede with a black heel and small platform but went with them and was so glad I did because we parked blocks away from the show we were attending and there was no pain whatsoever! I like the look of the Saltwater sandals and will check them out too. I had a pair of red Dr Scholl’s the first time around and can’t wear wooden soles anymore!

I’ve never heard of that brand! I will look. I would think German shoes would be great quality and comfortable because they walk so much. The wooden sole is a bit tricky. That’s so funny that you had red the first time around!

I had a pair of yellow Dr. Scholl’s sandals and I loved them!! Now you’ve got me thinking about them again. Maybe I’ll add a pair to my summer wardrobe. I love them again! That is a great end of school present to yourself! Have a great day!
