Linking up with Heather etc. right here today!  How was your weekend?  Mine was really fun!

Friday night my work friend E met me at an outdoor concert sponsored by the liquor store in the shopping village near my house.

I finished this book because I couldn’t put it down!  I do recommend it and thanks to Preppy Empty Nester for recommending it on Instagram!

And, then I started this – so cute!  I’m almost done with this now, too.  Pick this up right away if you like rom-com movies and books.

Saturday morning I got my hair cut and colored for the first time since February!

I’m not mad; just can’t take a selfie very well!

We had beautiful weather so hub and I and the pup went boating!  Pup likes to be under the steering wheel by his daddy!

I bought the Truly citrus pack and the lemon is my favorite!

There were lots of boats out!

We came home late afternoon and ordered pizza and watched shows with our boys.

Sunday morning I did a TJ’s run.

And, we took our friends out on the boat and had brunch/lunch at Captain’s Quarters.

We came home after lunch and I read a bit and made dinner and we hung with our boys.  Some more progress was made on our addition this week and weekend and I will do an update soon for those interested.

What are you up to today and this week?  We are doing last minute school errands and I’m setting up my classroom this week and a week from today I will be back in the world of full time employment.  My boys start Wednesday.  Where did the summer go?

Hope you all had a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

  1. Ok, last week of sweet vacation! 😀 I felt it in my heart when I read what you wrote; “Where did the summer go?” … We’re mixing life in the city with country life in the cabin, really nice! But a summerhouse without boat and kitchen (renovation…) is a bit second grade I must confess…
Do you have a lot to do in your classroom? I so envy that you have your own! I will soon enter a brand new school building and a new neighborhood, that will be fun!

    1. I know! It’s bittersweet! I have to arrange the room and unpack and one of my sons likes to help me. I have to set up my technology. I don’t have that much to do in the room but lots to do in regards to lesson planning and creating documents for the first couple of weeks!
I’m sorry about your cabin. Enjoy your last bit, too!

      1. What kind of technology do you use? My school isn’t that high tech, I have a computer that I can connect to a tv and the students have their own computers that I can monitor with the help of hapara. Some school have these cool smart boards – have you seen them?
Yes, lesson planning, of course! I actually feel fine about going back to school – what about you?
We have a rainy day here in the cabin, so cozy! Last year we came home to a Sweden with 86°, that was amazing! This year 65°… No more swimming for this me this summer!

      2. I have a laptop that hooks to a projector and an Apple TV and a big flatscreen. My students don’t have issued computers but we have a cart we can sign up for. 65 actually sounds nice to me! I need to start lesson planning ASAP!

  2. Another great weekend! I love that y’all can just go out on your boat for an afternoon – that has to be the best! I am still on the hunt for the sangria. Enjoy this week – summer does go by so fast!

    1. It is really fun. I really like going out in the fall, too. The leaves start changing and you have to wear a sweatshirt! I found my sangria at Kroger. Really any brand will work. I forgot to message you but I miss our Bahama Breeze! It used to be the go to for girls night out. They had a goat cheese appetizer that we always got. I don’t know why ours went out of business because it was so popular!

  3. Hi, I’m new to your blog, but I have 2 boys 10 and 13 and found you through Shay and Erika from TX. Anyway, my husband and I are at this weird phase in life where the boys can be home by themselves and we have a little more freedom to go out and do things, just the two of us. Sounds great, except mama guilt says I should be home with the boys hanging out. I like your blog since you seem to have a good balance there. I think the boys are glad when I’m not hanging around constantly! Its so strange though! Anyway, love your blog and drink ideas! Have a great week!

    1. Hi Paige! I know exactly how you feel. I think giving them freedom with parameters is important and it’s good for our spouse relationship. We started leaving them home alone in daylight when they were between 5-6 grades. They didn’t have cell phones but we got a pay as you go phone to be kept at home (no more home phone at that time). We know they love the time when we are gone and it helps their brother bond. Sometimes I will meet my husband on his way home from work at a restaurant and then we will bring takeout home to the boys and sit with them while they eat or watch a show while they eat. I think you will feel less guilty as time goes on. I’ve also noticed if I leave a checklist of chores instead of nagging them verbally it makes all happier! I have been so happy this summer when we come home and see that the boys are doing things without us telling them or leaving a note. They will take trash and recycling out when full, clean up leftovers, etc. So, I don’t have all of the answers but I think you are doing them more of a service by going out from time to time!
Thank you so much for your comment and good luck with back to school!

    2. Thank you for the nice compliment! Curious about where in KY your friend lives – you said you would get to see her on this trip?

  4. Summer did go quickly in your case! (I’m thinking a break from the heat might be nice though 🙂

Everyone is always showing their hard seltzer in pictures and I’ve tried it multiple times and one can (less than one, even) will give me a two day hangover. I don’t get it.

    1. I know! So I’m not just imagining it? I guess it’s time for a routine though! The hard seltzer is better for me than wine. Wine gives me a major headache the next day if I have even one glass – except for my new sangria recipe and a few other types. I like that it’s nice and light for summer!

That would be a good book for audio I bet! She often has good recommendations! Last week of summer – wahhhh!

    1. You might like East End because it would remind you a bit of the wealth in Nantucket.
I commented on your post but not sure it goes through! I never know – I use an iPad and it might be something with Google!

  5. Good morning!! So glad that you enjoyed The East End! I am reading a good one now but I don’t want to jump the gun until I finish it. A bad ending can ruin a good book for me.
I’ll post it on Insta if I am happy with it. LOVE your hair! Enjoy your week!!

    1. Thank you! I understand. I just started Lessons from Lucy by Dave Barry and I think you’d really like it. I’m laughing out loud and I need that as I head back to school and my twins start their senior year! I will check Insta to see. I was so jealous of your ability to take the train. We took the train to Chicago from our rental in Michigan and I just love train travel. We have almost no ability to do that from Kentucky and I hate that!
